Chapter 1387: Chapter 40 Escape from Death! [Subscribe to the legitimate version]

At the mont, with a terrifying giant dragon pursuing from behind, and a semi-permanent star-level genius blocking the path ahead.

Jia Yan’s eyes flashed with a peculiar glint, and then a small, pitch-black bead appeared in front of him.

This small bead was quite unremarkable, about the size of a human palm. In the eyes of the several monsters present, it was nearly forgettable at a glance, just a minor presence.

But in Jia Yan’s eyes, it was nothing less than a life-saving bead.

“Detonate for !”

Jia Yan’s gaze sharpened as he roared out decisively.

The bead wasn’t aid at the semi-permanent star-level creature ahead, nor the enormous giant dragon behind. Instead, in an instant, it moved to the tallic appendage of Jia Yan’s conceptual ship.

As his shout resounded, the tiny, black stone suddenly erupted with a fearso and overwhelming force.

Indeed, this was the powerful weapon Jia Yan had been relying on recently—the Space Burst Stone!

And it was the very last Space Burst Stone Jia Yan had!

If even this didn’t work, Jia Yan truly had no tricks left to play.

Jia Yan only felt a horrifying force explode abruptly behind his wings.

The force was imnsely astonishing. The explosion wasn’t due to normal chanics but arose from the distortion and expansion of space itself. Under extre circumstances, its explosive power even seed a notch stronger than usual.

Boom!!!

Under this surge of force, a segnt of his tallic conceptual ship’s body was instantly torn apart.

Yet the conceptual ship’s mory tal proved its worth; within an instant, defensive systems sprang into action, dampening and blocking much of the explosion’s impact.

However, Jia Yan, who was inside the conceptual ship, still endured the force’s assault. In that mont, he spat out a mouthful of blood.

As for his avatar, Jia Yan didn’t have the luxury to worry about it. When he hurled out the Space Burst Stone, he rely had the avatar cling onto the tallic body of the ship for dear life.

The avatar was nearly half-destroyed in an instant.

The terrifying force of the explosion was enough to shake heavens and earth, but Jia Yan wasn’t seeking re raw power.

He knew that the Space Burst Stone might or might not harm the semi-permanent star-level monster ahead, but it definitely couldn’t injure the colossal monster behind him.

So what he sought wasn’t to kill with the blast—it was to use the force as propulsion!

Boom!

Jia Yan, having prepared in advance, suddenly found himself blasted forward.

He was already flying, but the explosion’s force propelled him with a power dozens or even hundreds of tis greater than his full-speed flight!

Under this force, his speed surged intensely.

The semi-permanent star-level monster ahead collided head-on with Jia Yan.

The terrifying propulsion force was beyond what the monster could have anticipated. Caught off guard and unable to react effectively, Jia Yan’s crash left the monster grievously wounded, losing nearly half its life in an instant.

anwhile, Jia Yan’s conceptual ship sustained severe damage at its top. If it had been Jia Yan himself, he might have lost half his life as well.

Behind them, the giant dragon monster was briefly stalled by the explosion from the Space Burst Stone. To be exact, it wasn’t so much the force of the blast but the surprise that startled it. The explosion’s energy rippled across its body but barely left a scratch.

As for Jia Yan, who had cleared the semi-permanent star-level monster in front, his path opened up like a golden highway. With the montum from the explosion, he accelerated and extended his spatial talents. Although subspace wasn’t an option in this already-subspatial region, he still managed to further enhance his flight speed using his space talent.

Jia Yan transford into a deadly sword.

He didn’t need to be the fastest—just faster than the others who were also fleeing!

The semi-permanent star-level monster struck by Jia Yan quickly regained its senses in less than half a second. However, what greeted it was the terrifying shockwave from the Space Burst Stone’s explosion.

Though the shockwave couldn’t severely harm it, the monster still staggered. It exerted its control talent to stabilize itself, recovering balance in less than a second.

Nevertheless, its body bore so minor injuries.

“Hmph, that murderous insect sure escaped fast! Using such a self-destructive thod to flee, I can catch up to him in no ti.”

The controlling monster glared into the direction where Jia Yan had fled.

Soon, though, it sensed sothing was wrong.

“Wait, why didn’t he target with that strange explosive stone? If it had hit directly, I might’ve been seriously injured. Did he think I’m that terrifying?”

Although it wasn’t being self-deprecating, the controlling semi-permanent star-level monster realized that Jia Yan’s strength was nothing ordinary, especially with spatial talents. If faced head-on, Jia Yan might have a chance of escaping its pursuit. But resorting to such a self-harming escape tactic?

“Hmm…?”

The controlling monster suddenly seed to notice sothing. It spun back around, only to be t with a pair of massive, terrifying eyes looming right in front of it.

Eyes belonging to a colossal, mountain-sized monster that even made the semi-permanent star-level monster’s scalp tingle.

The tides of the gravitational wave sea surged around the enormous beast, signifying that the giant dragon’s influence had completely enveloped the controlling monster.

In this situation, not even divine intervention could save it.

“Wha—”

It didn’t even finish the word before the terrifying giant dragon lunged and bit down with lightning speed.

The controlling monster unleashed its greatest talents and activated various life-preserving artifacts.

But to the giant dragon, these attempts didn’t even qualify as toys. In a single bite, the once-relentless pursuer of Jia Yan was instantaneously devoured!

Amid the gravitational wave sea, the ten-kiloter-long head of the horrific dragon surfaced, showing a satisfied expression.

The taste of a semi-permanent star-level strong one served as a nice appetizer for it.

Yet, this monster suddenly sniffed the air deeply, its enormous eyes sparking with eagerness.

It greedily licked at a faint trail of blood suspended in the sky.

If Jia Yan had been present, he would have been shocked.

The blood was from when the explosion’s energy breached Jia Yan’s true body, spilling a trace of his blood.

Now, the monstrous dragon seed inexplicably drawn to Jia Yan’s blood!

“Roar!”

The terrifying dragon let out a deafening cry before looking delightedly in the direction Jia Yan had fled. With a swing of its tail, it accelerated in pursuit.

Jia Yan had no idea that a trace of his blood had not only been consud but also piqued the dragon’s interest.

He only knew that if he didn’t escape quickly, his chances of survival would plumt.

“Huh? Isn’t that anti-star condensate? And so much of it gathered here.”

Up ahead, Jia Yan saw a large cluster of liquid-like material pooled together.

Moving swiftly, he hastily connected with his avatar.

The avatar, now half-destroyed, was in an ambiguous state between life and death, but Jia Yan decided to give it a try.

To his surprise, upon connecting with the advanced talent avatar, he found its body rapidly regenerating, its life force not significantly diminished.

“So that’s it. This avatar’s species is inherently resilient.”

Overjoyed, Jia Yan ordered the avatar to act.

Shooting past the anti-star condensate cluster, the avatar used one arm to cling to Jia Yan’s conceptual ship while scooping up the condensate with the other.

“There’re also so Gravity Stones ahead—that stuff’s scarce in the outside universe. Snatch it!”

Ignoring everything else, Jia Yan seized the mont, grabbing as much as he could without compromising his flight.

But the giant dragon was drawing closer and closer. When Jia Yan glanced back, he saw it had already entered his line of sight.

“So fast! It’s like a lingering ghost haunting .”

Terrified, Jia Yan no longer dared to pick up anything and instead fled at full speed.

However, the explosive propulsion had already worn off. Now relying only on his own power, his current speed felt like a crawl. The giant dragon rapidly closed the gap, its ferocious teeth almost within reach.

“Is this my end?”

A bitter smile crept across Jia Yan’s heart.

But just then, his eyes lit up. Up ahead, he spotted an area with a different hue—it was not far now.

It was the exit!

“Haha! Heaven hasn’t abandoned !”

Ecstatic, Jia Yan let out a joyous roar and, summoning every ounce of strength he had left, shot through the opening like a bullet.

The sa instant Jia Yan escaped through the opening, the formidable dragon lunged out as well.

Roar!!!!

In the ordinary cosmic starry sky, the creature’s thunderous roar echoed endlessly.

The dragon’s massive jaws missed Jia Yan by a hair’s breadth. Barely shy of a fatal chomp, Jia Yan narrowly escaped with his life.

This minuscule margin was the difference between life and death.

Jia Yan dodged past the monstrous teeth, then dove downward at full speed.

The dragon, with its long neck, attempted to swing back for another attack, aiming to crush Jia Yan in its maw.

But Jia Yan noticed that the gravitational wave opening, which had once accommodated the dragon, was no longer leaking gravitational waves. The dragon’s exposed head visibly began to wither.

“Roar!!”

The fearful dragon unleashed a pained, anguished roar.

It didn’t dare linger any longer and hastily retreated. Yet even as it withdrew, its cold, predatory eyes remained fixed on Jia Yan’s rapidly disappearing figure below.

Within its gaze lurked an almost insatiable longing.

But there was nothing it could do; it could only return to the void of the great black hole behind it.

Jia Yan stared in shock at the dragon’s full retreat into the pitch-black chasm.

“Escape!”

He dared not delay a second longer. Ignoring his near-exhausted body, he quickly activated his brainwave power, opening a subspace channel in front of him and fleeing in utter desperation!
