Capítulo 1958: Chapter 10: Studying the Dao
“This is remarkable. Within the Milky Way, there is absolutely no creature or system that can clearly explain the other systems or cultivation thods. But this path is different; it can explain all systems, subtly embodying correctness in its form.”
As Jia Yan pondered the general shape of this path, he found himself increasingly interested in the path and its cultivation thods.
While Jia Yan was engrossed in his research, Wu Peili seemingly returned from a eting with so high-level authority.
“I greet you, Senior.” It was evident that this ti, Wu Peili felt more distant from Jia Yan and had an unusual feeling, as if she’d been briefed about Jia Yan’s strength, and now dared not be as casual as before with him.
“Why call Senior? Just call Jia Yan. Alright, Wu Peili, I have sothing to ask you.”
Jia Yan knew that his words wouldn’t easily penetrate Wu Peili’s ears. The creatures here treated Strong Ones with a respect akin to, if not greater than, outside attitudes. In this world, it seed like the Strong Ones were more favored.
After all, Jia Yan hadn’t heard of any powerful technological weapons here. Without the elent of technology, he felt that the Strong Ones were indeed magnified, especially in this place, where so disturbingly powerful figures existed.
Even the Grand Elder appeared to be expressing that he was just an ordinary Strong One in this world. Under such circumstances, Jia Yan had reason to believe that there might be even more powerful beings existing, potentially reaching the level of Territory Master, or even beyond, but he didn’t know for certain.
Wu Peili’s current attitude towards Jia Yan was natural, as it was the kind of attitude a weaker individual should have towards a Strong One.
Of course, since Jia Yan had spoken, she wouldn’t be too concerned with sticking to those formalities.
After a few words, Wu Peili returned to her original tone with Jia Yan, realizing that he wasn’t soone difficult to talk to.
“So, Jia Yan, you want to ask about the experiences with the path?”
Wu Peili knew that what she understood about the path wasn’t sothing that could be casually taught to others. If Jia Yan were asking for such things, she would definitely refuse to answer.
But Jia Yan was inquiring about experiences related to the path or so peculiar incidents, which she had plenty to share.
“It’s actually like this. In our forest, unlike in the cities, there isn’t a lot of gossip, but we do have our own exciting stories. For instance, a few days ago, I heard that about a hundred kiloters away, there was a silkworm-like creature that spontaneously comprehended the ‘path’ and then ravaged the surroundings, wiping out a small tribe.”
“And, for example, about two hundred kiloters away, there was a settlent similar in size to our tribe that was completely wiped out during a confrontation with the Ape Monkey Clan; not a single person managed to escape. This surely indicates that a powerful Strong One erged among the Ape Monkey Clan.”
Wu Peili recounted her experiences, which, while seeming trivial, were unrelated to Jia Yan. However, Jia Yan was still engrossed in listening.
Yet, as he listened halfway, he sensed that Wu Peili seed to be relaxing her guard, so the topic gradually shifted to cultivation.
“Ha, you say you don’t understand how their species cultivates? It’s not surprising you don’t understand, especially since this species only exists in our part of the forest. Let tell you, their cultivation thod is quite funny. They press their heads against tree trunks, unlike us who simply sit cross-legged, gathering the path’s energy to ourselves…”
Just as Wu Peili was getting into the topic, she suddenly paused.
She felt like she had let sothing slip.
“Ugh, I’m done talking; I feel a bit tired; I’ll go rest now.”
She looked deeply at Jia Yan, wondering if everything she had said had fallen into Jia Yan, the foreign race’s trap.
Feeling she hadn’t revealed too much information, she hastily left.
Little did she know, Jia Yan had already acquired much of what he desired.
In fact, even the amusing anecdotes about surrounding species she had shared added to Jia Yan’s understanding of this world.
Gradually, he was able to sketch a very small unknown forest in this world that housed a seemingly insignificant species—humans.
Yet, it couldn’t be said that this Human Race was weak. At least, according to Wu Peili’s statents, humans were one of the top ten dominant groups in this world, with significant human Empires or cities existing elsewhere.
Jia Yan, who erged in this forest, saw it firsthand. A few days ago, people had witnessed sothing almost shattering—a rift suddenly split open in the sky and then disappeared quickly.
This incident beca the year’s biggest mysterious news, yet no one had considered that from the vast rift erged an intergalactic visitor.
“Oh, Senior Jia Yan, are you planning to leave already? We haven’t even fully acquainted ourselves.”
Upon saying a lot, Wu Peili suddenly realized that Jia Yan intended to leave.
“Uh, I do have a bit of an idea to leave. After all, I’ve already intruded enough on your space.”
“It’s no disturbance at all. I an, um, if you intend to leave, why not take along? I have no family, no attachnts. If you’re willing, I’d be at your side, helping manage everything for you, right?”
Wu Peili’s words were imbued with a strong desire to stop Jia Yan from leaving, even directly stating that if Jia Yan wanted to leave, taking her along would be ideal.
Jia Yan fell into deep thought.
He’d long seen through these young individuals and their desire to leave with him, but he had no intention of taking them.
First, this tribe would never willingly allow two beings with star-level combat power, which weren’t weak in this world, to leave.
Second, Jia Long believed they wouldn’t be of help to him, or if, upon leaving, they saw his strength wasn’t as formidable as thought, wouldn’t that be cause for alternative designs on him?
Jia Yan held many secrets, ones that travelers from another world might discover, so he was extrely cautious.
“Here’s the deal: It’s impossible for to take you with . Give so ti to handle certain affairs, and I’ll return to retrieve you. This could take a month, five months, or even a year—maybe a lifeti. If you’re willing to wait, I’ll pick you up next ti I co.”
Jia Yan’s words caused Wu Peili to fall silent, as she could tell this was a stalling tactic.
“Heh, regardless, I still want to adventure with you, my lord. If you won’t take us, I’ll just team up with Luzhi. I’m confident that with our combined strength, we shouldn’t encounter much danger in this forest.”
Wu Peili’s tone changed, as though becoming another person suddenly during the conversation with Jia Yan.
Because Jia Yan had refused her, it was akin to a man refusing a girl’s confession, a highly humiliating act. She, of course, wouldn’t show him a good face.
Jia Yan had no more to say.
That night, he spent engrossed in contemplation and studying the path, transitioning gradually into the following day.
Unexpectedly, the forest gave Jia Yan a slight surprise the next day.
Because the Ape Monkey Clan, which Wu Peili had ntioned only yesterday, actually showed up in this human-inhabited region.
