Capítulo 1982: Chapter 22: Different from Imagination
“Does this city really have such complete defenses? It won’t even let other creatures in.”
Jia Yan watched the family entering the city. Under the scanning of a strange iron object by the soldier at the gate, their bodies seed swept by electromagnetic waves. Several seemingly unintelligent creatures were driven out.
Jia Yan noticed that even after those creatures flew away, they sustained significant injuries. He estimated that even if they escaped, they wouldn’t survive long, making his heart pound with fear.
He knew that Jia Yan’s strength was similar to those creatures. If he hadn’t fled directly earlier, their fate might have been his own.
Luckily, Jia Yan managed to escape.
“This is sowhat different from what I imagined, but it’s normal. After all, the Giant Tribe is so enormous. If everyone entering the city wasn’t inspected, various creatures would definitely be brought in, turning the city into a place like those on Earth teeming with biodiversity, which could potentially lead to outbreaks of diseases.”
Additionally, there are too many creatures in this world. The Giant Tribe is large in size but not yet absolutely powerful, so their level of defense is understandable.
“But if I don’t enter, the danger around is still too great. Do I have to enter the nearby forest or sowhere else again?”
Jia Yan watched the family entering the city, knowing that he would soon part ways with them, feeling quite helpless. He had been contemplating trying the taste of that family leader’s blood these past days.
Over the past three days, Jia Yan’s strength improved while digesting the female giant’s blood, having a free ride, he felt secure.
Thus, over these days, his strength ascended again. Though not having leveled up, his actual strength reached a certain peak.
“No, the outside world is definitely dangerous. In this world, there’s probably little defense against flight; I should risk flying into the city.”
Jia Yan decided to enter the Giant City.
After all, for him, apart from giants being a significant risk, other creatures inside the Giant City should be fewer. Just as humans on Earth generally wouldn’t harm ants, the giants probably wouldn’t bother with small creatures like Jia Yan unless they got in their way or did sothing detrintal.
Thus, Jia Yan gently took flight within the City of the Giant.
The city was enormous, circling its wall. Even though Jia Yan’s flying speed reached hundreds of thousands of kiloters per hour, it was difficult to reach the edge.
“Flying directly from the city gate is a definite no-go since, despite the limited aerial defense thods, important areas like these surely have so precautions. I need to find a potentially weaker spot in this city; I can’t afford any mistakes.”
Jia Yan glanced at the city’s height and after flying for two hours, finally reached a less frequented section of the city wall.
No giants were patrolling as guards, so he directly fluttered his wings and ascended upwards.
To Jia Yan, the wall was too tall. Being ten thousand kiloters high, it took him quite a while to reach the altitude.
Once atop, Jia Yan peered inside, finding no patrolling giants on the wall, but sothing felt peculiar.
“So that’s it, they’re rearing so bats on this wall.”
Jia Yan finally understood why the giants weren’t afraid of airborne creatures; apparently, bats were being raised along the wall.
These bats were the sa type of creature Jia Yan encountered upon arriving in this world.
They rely looked like bats, but they weren’t actually bats.
So at this mont, knowing the giants’ aerial defenses involved bats was sowhat relieving for Jia Yan.
“These creatures seem quite similar to bats; they find prey through ans like sonic waves, so if I try not to fly too high and avoid attracting their attention, I might have a chance to sneak into the city unnoticed.”
Jia Yan slowly clung to the city wall, sticking to its surface as he traversed the wall segnt.
He reached the most dangerous mont, landing on the ground and crawling with his six legs along the city wall.
He dared not fly, for doing so might expose him to the bats hidden in the wall’s crevices, inviting an attack.
To Jia Yan, these bats might not be too powerful now since he’s beco stronger multiple tis. Even facing one, he could likely escape.
But the bats weren’t alone; countless were hiding within the wall’s crevices. Getting discovered would undoubtedly result in him being torn apart.
Step by step, Jia Yan carefully navigated the edge of the city wall, gradually entering the city.
Then, crawling along the internal bricks of the wall, he descended step by step, a process wasting nearly half a day for Jia Yan.
When he finally reached halfway down the wall, Jia Yan couldn’t resist fluttering his wings to take flight.
Looking back, the bats indeed hadn’t noticed his movents, or perhaps their alert range didn’t include his altitude.
Thus, Jia Yan flew directly into the city before him.
“My God, this Giant City is truly astonishing.”
Upon seeing the city before him, Jia Yan was stunned.
Initially, he thought the Giants’ city, though seemingly grand on the outside due to the giants’ unintelligent appearances, would be simplistic inside, likely just so basic dwellings.
Unexpectedly, when he entered the city, Jia Yan found it was not at all inferior to ancient cities on Earth.
Inside were magnificent palaces, extrely prosperous.
An endless stream of giants, so even wearing clothes akin to silk, walked the streets.
Among them were exceptionally large creatures, resembling dinosaurs, presumably serving as ‘horses’ for the Giant Tribe, pulling carts on the streets.
This was nowhere near backward; there was no sense of savagery but rather a blend of Civilization and a quaint, primitive aura.
The city was entirely different from what Jia Yan imagined.
“Huh?”
While Jia Yan was scanning for a place to perch, he was suddenly surprised.
On the streets, the sa Giant family that he saw entering the city earlier in the day happened to be passing by.
“Weren’t they already in the city long ago? Why are they still wandering around? Did sothing go wrong?”
Jia Yan approached the family, as they were ‘acquaintances’ after all.
Of course, that wasn’t Jia Yan’s primary motive for nearing them. The true reason was that after three days of accompanying them, they had not discovered his presence. With another Giant Tribe, Jia Yan feared he might get caught.
So having confird them as a risk-free and excellent ‘blood’ source, if given another chance to et, why not continue hiding on their bodies for safety?
Quickly, Jia Yan avoided the family’s sight, landing at the bottom of the child’s backpack.
As he landed, he heard the male giant, the family head, fuming.
“What kind of sister is that? She sweet-talked us into finding a place to stay nearby first, promising to help look for a suitable house and job. It seems she doesn’t really want us living with her.”
