477: Long Distance Heartbeats ( 477 ) 477: Long Distance Heartbeats ( 477 ) That night.

Armand Region.

Armand Estate.

The soft glow of the full moon bathed the courtyard in silver light.

A gentle breeze rustled the leaves, and the faint scent of night-blooming flowers drifted through the garden.

Liana stood alone, her silver hair shimring like moonlight itself.

She wore a light shawl over her maid uniform, her erald eyes reflecting the sky above as she gazed upward in silence.

“…Young master.” Her voice was barely above a whisper.

It blended into the wind, unheard by anyone but the moon.

She thought she’d gotten used to it—the days without him, the quiet halls, the absence of his teasing voice, his mischievous grin, the way he would cling to her when he was half-asleep.

She used to believe he’d be the one to break without her.

That he’d sulk.

That he’d whine.

That he’d cling to her robe and say, “Don’t leave , Liana.” But now…

She clenched the fabric of her shawl softly.

“…Turns out I’m the sa.” Her lips trembled slightly, though her expression stayed calm, as always.

She slowly sat down on the marble bench in the center of the garden, her fingers trailing across the petals of a nearby flower bush.

“I wonder… are you doing okay without ?” she whispered.

She smiled—softly, with longing.

A smile only the moon could see.

Liana closed her eyes.

The moonlight kissed her pale cheeks as she lowered her head, her fingers curling into her lap.

“…At least co once in a while,” she whispered, her voice almost lost to the wind.

“Even if you’re busy… or find a way to contact with the mana talkie…” Her lips parted with a tremble, eyes shimring with unshed emotion.

“Young master… I miss you… so much.” The garden fell into stillness.

Only the quiet chirping of night insects and the gentle rustle of leaves replied to her sorrow.

Sowhere deep inside her heart, she hoped—just maybe—that he could hear her.

Even from far, far away.

anwhile, in the Beastkin Kingdom… Far from the capital, in a forest clearing recently cleared of monsters, Javier sat on the grass, his back leaning lazily against a tree.

The battle earlier had left him a bit dusty, but he wasn’t tired.

If anything, his mood was light.

With a soft hum, he reached into his storage magic and pulled out a small, spherical object—his newly modified mana drone, about the size of a clenched fist.

Unlike normal drones, it shimred faintly with runic inscriptions, crafted not with tools but through pure magic.

Javier’s fingers moved smoothly, weaving delicate mana threads to fine-tune its structure.

“Alright… let’s hope this version can transmit signals all the way to the main mana relay tower back in Armand,” he muttered, a half-smile forming.

“That way I can finally contact my beautiful Liana.” He pulled out a small remote control—also magically inscribed with runes—and launched the drone into the air.

It buzzed softly, rising above the treetops and vanishing into the starry sky, heading toward the nearest relay node.

Then, Javier slid the mana talkie over his ear, channeled mana into it, and tapped the side once.

“Testing… testing…” He waited, hope flickering in his eyes.

A voice crackled over the mana talkie.

“This is the main base.

Identify yourself.” Javier groaned softly, smacking his forehead.

Ah, crap… I forgot to connect directly to Liana’s line first.

With a resigned sigh, he replied, “This is Javier De Armand.” The officer at the main base instantly straightened, voice brightening.

“Ah!

Young master Javier!” Javier chuckled lightly.

“Sorry, just testing a new invention.

No need to worry about it.” “Understood, young master.

Should we pass along any ssages to the estate?” “No need,” Javier answered casually.

“I can contact them directly if necessary.

Just wanted to see if my latest toy worked.” “If you say so, young master.

Stay safe out there.” The connection clicked shut, leaving Javier shaking his head with mild annoyance.

“Alright… let’s tweak the signal a bit,” he muttered.

He shifted mana back into the drone, adjusting the transmission frequency with a few flicks of his fingers and a minor mana pulse.

“Let’s try again.” He tapped the mana talkie.

“Hello?” A gentle voice responded a mont later.

“Ah, young master Javier.

What’s with the call at this hour?” “…Err… who is this?” he asked, blinking.

“This is Erisa,” the voice replied patiently.

“One of the elite battle maid units under Mrs.

Erinnete.” “Ah!

Sorry, wrong connection again,” Javier said, scratching his head.

“I was actually trying to contact Liana.

Is she nearby?” “I’m not sure, young master.

I’m inside my office right now.” “…Huh?

You didn’t sleep yet?” “Hmm?

Tonight’s my night shift—four hours.

You forgot, young master?

The maids rotate night duties in four-hour blocks.” “Oh… right… yeah, slipped my mind.

Sorry, sorry.” “It’s alright, young master.” There was a small chuckle in her voice.

“Talk to you later.

Good night.

And stay safe.” “Thanks.

You too.” The line went dead again.

Javier sighed, leaning his head back against the tree trunk.

“…Why is it so hard to contact Liana?” he muttered, exasperated.

The night was quiet now—his modified drone still circling high above, maintaining the link.

Buddy was already fast asleep beside him, feathers puffed up and occasionally letting out a soft cuquawk in his dreams.

Around them, his white puppet knights stood guard in a protective periter, unmoving but ever alert—each enchanted to act the mont danger approached.

Javier inhaled slowly and lifted his mana talkie once more, channeling mana with steady focus.

He closed his eyes, concentrating as he fine-tuned the signal to a more precise frequency.

Co on… reach her… He tapped it again.

“Hello?” This ti, there was silence for a mont.

Then— “…Mmh… hello?” A soft, sleepy voice responded—calm, graceful, unmistakably hers.

Javier’s eyes lit up instantly.

“Liana!?” Armand Estate – Liana’s Room Liana sat bolt upright from her bed at the faint voice over the mana talkie.

Her hands trembled slightly as she pressed it closer to her ear, breath caught in her throat.

“Young master…!!!” Her voice cracked, and soft sobs escaped despite her trying to stay composed.

“I miss you!” she whispered, her eyes already shimring with tears.

Javier’s voice was gentle through the line.

“Sa here…” Liana wiped her tears with her sleeve, sniffing.

“Have you eaten?

Who are you with?

Are there any girls around you there!?” There was a pause.

“…Hmm?

Just Buddy and my puppet knights.

No girls.” She narrowed her eyes suspiciously, though her heart ward.

“Really?” “Yes.” “Really!?” “Yes…” Javier answered, sounding a little tired now.

“You’re not lying, are you!?” “I’m not!!

Ugh…” he grumbled, half amused, half defeated.
