Javier walked calmly toward the nearby outpost, the cool breeze brushing gently against his bare skin.
Still shirtless, he entered the simple dining area where soldiers and staff typically gathered to eat.
The tables were rough but sturdy, and the air was filled with the hearty aroma of freshly cooked food.
Without needing to call out, the outpost chef. A seasoned cook who recognized him instantly, hastily approached and set a steaming plate of food and a drink in front of him.
A hearty serving of roasted at, fresh bread, and a simple vegetable stew.
“Thank you,” Javier said softly, nodding casually.
He took a seat, calmly cutting into his al, savoring each bite, the slow rhythm a rare mont of peace after the chaos earlier.
A quiet reprieve, sothing he didn’t get often.
Beside his tray, a sealed letter bearing his father Garius’s crest rested silently.
Javier glanced at it thoughtfully.
Well… I’ll read it later.
Let finish my al first.
He took another slow bite, allowing his mind to settle amid the quiet hum of the outpost.

Outside near the rchant stalls..
Buddy was already causing his usual ruckus.
The big Pekko waddled through the stalls, happily chomping on fruits without a second thought.
Every ti Buddy’s beak snapped down on an apple, the rchant started counting nervously.
“That’s one! No, wait, two! No, THREE!”
The rchant was on the verge of tears, caught in a flurry of frantic negotiations with a bird that clearly didn’t grasp the concept of “paying.”
Inside the dining hall, Javier sighed deeply at the distant cuquawk and the rchant’s shouts.
He neatly wiped his mouth, then reached into his magic storage, pulling out two gold coins.
He stood and waved over the outpost captain, who had been pretending very hard not to notice.
“Captain.”
“Yes, Young Master?” the captain hurried over imdiately.
Javier handed him the coins.
“Here. Two gold coins. Please help pay for whatever my Pekko eats.”
“If there’s any change, just keep it.”
The captain saluted sharply, eyes respectful.
“Understood, Young Master. Thank you.”
Javier sighed once more, then sat back, lifting his cup to take a calm sip of his drink.
anwhile, Buddy was happily devouring a waterlon, taking bites so big he caused the rchant to start recounting from scratch all over again.
Once Javier finished, he neatly wiped his mouth with the cloth provided, then gathered his dishes, wooden bowl, plate, and glass, and prepared to return them properly.
Before he could step inside..
A cleaning lady in a plain apron spotted him.
Her eyes widened in sheer panic.
“Ah!! No need for that, Young Master!!” she rushed forward, hands flailing as she nearly tripped over herself.
“That’s my job!! Please, please, let handle it!”
She bowed repeatedly, trembling a little from nervousness.
Javier blinked once, caught off guard.
Then he gave her an awkward smile.
“Oh… sorry.”
He carefully handed over the dishes.
“Here.”
The lady clasped them with both hands, bowing so deeply it looked like she’d just been handed sacred relics.
Javier offered a small nod.
“I’m going now.”
Without causing any more fuss, he turned and walked casually back toward the open courtyard where Buddy was already waiting, nibbling the last bits of the stolen fruit.
The sun had risen higher in the sky.
It was ti to move.
Javier walked toward Buddy, who was now lazily flapping his wings after his fruit feast.
With a gentle push on Buddy’s side, Javier climbed onto his Pekko’s saddle, settling comfortably into place.
Buddy let out a soft squawk, proud to carry his master.
Without rushing, Javier guided Buddy into a slow, steady walk toward the town gate, the afternoon sun casting long shadows across the ground.
As they neared the gates, Javier reached into his magic storage, pulling out ten gleaming gold coins. He held them in his palm, catching the sunlight.
He scanned the surroundings and spotted the outpost guard captain nearby, who imdiately saluted upon seeing him.
“Captain.”
Javier called out casually but with authority, leaning slightly down from Buddy’s back.
“Treat everyone with this.”
The captain’s eyes widened in surprise.
“A-Ah!! No need, Young Master!” he stamred, quickly shaking his hands.
“We already earn good pay from our duty here. Please, you don’t have to trouble yourself.”
Javier offered a gentle smile, cutting him off.
“Just use it to treat everyone. Good als. Good drinks.”
“Let everyone relax for a little while, that’s an order.”
The captain froze, then bowed deeply.
“…Understood, Young Master. Thank you very much!”
Nearby soldiers, who had been watching silently, saluted firmly, their respect deepening for Javier.
Javier straightened in the saddle.
“Alright, Buddy, let’s move! Dash!!”
Cuquawked!!
Buddy jolted forward at top speed, leaving the area in a blur.
As Javier and Buddy disappeared beyond the gate, one of the younger soldiers leaned closer to the captain, whispering,
“Just like his father, right, Captain?”
The captain chuckled quietly, crossing his arms over his chest, a prideful smile on his face.
“Yeah.” he said softly. “Our Lord… he’s not stingy. He cares for his people. Always has.”
“And he gives us the best salary compared to any other region.”
Another soldier nodded firmly.
A quiet hum of agreent spread among the guards.
A small, warm sense of pride filled the air.
The captain grinned wider, feeling the weight of the gold coins in his pocket.
One of the younger ones nudged him excitedly.
“So, Captain?”
“Hmm?”
“Huge feast tonight?!”
The captain laughed heartily, slapping his knee.
“Of course! A huge feast!!”
“YEAHHH!!!”
The outpost erupted into cheers, soldiers raising their fists in celebration.
Even the nearby rchants and a few workers couldn’t help but smile, sharing in the rare scene of joy.
Tonight would be lively, a small but genuine celebration, all thanks to the kindness of the Young Master of Armand.
After passing through the town gate, Javier leaned forward slightly in the saddle, trusting Buddy to carry him at an incredible speed.
The wind whipped past him, the world narrowing into a single rushing line, sharp and exhilarating.

Javier’s keen eyes caught sight of a peaceful spot up ahead.
A gentle river flowing beside a cluster of tall, shady trees…a perfect place for a quick stop.
“Buddy!!” Javier called out over the roaring wind.
“Stop by that river and those trees!”
“Cuquawked!!” Buddy responded proudly, understanding instantly.
He adjusted his pace, slowing smoothly into a steady trot, heading gracefully toward the riverbank.
When Buddy finally ca to a stop, he flapped his wings once with pride, announcing the mission was complete.
Javier chuckled softly, a small, rare smile touching his face.
He dismounted, stretching his legs and arms quietly as Buddy waddled over nearby, happily scratching at the ground, digging little patches of dirt, perhaps searching for bugs or just enjoying a playful mont.
The soft rush of the river and the gentle rustling of leaves filled the tranquil air, a temporary haven of peace amid the chaos.
Javier took a deep breath, letting the calmness seep into him, grounding his thoughts.
Finally…
He reached into his belt and pulled out a sealed letter.
The letter from Lord Garius, still untouched.
The embossed seal glead faintly in the sunlight, untouched, waiting for him.
He sat down casually on a flat rock near the river’s edge, his gaze fixed on the parchnt.
The letter rested in his hands, his thumb gently brushing over the crest, weighing the mont.
He knew….
Once he broke the seal and read those words, everything would change.
There would be no more peaceful monts like this.
Only duty.
And war.

Javier slowly broke the seal and opened the letter.
