Chapter 519: Fire from the Skies ( 519 )

Javier was riding Buddy along the quiet road.

The sky was still dim, just a hint of orange touching the edge of the horizon.

Dawn had co.

But Javier couldn’t sleep at all the night before.

He didn’t know why.

No monster disturbed him.

No strange noise.

No danger.

But sothing inside kept telling him.

Move.

Now.

He sighed, adjusting his cloak as Buddy trotted steadily forward.

“I don’t even know why I’m rushing.”

Buddy gave a low squawk, sensing his master’s unease.

The road ahead stretched long, the wind brushing gently across the plains.

Javier narrowed his eyes.

Sowhere ahead…

sothing was waiting.

“Buddy… stop.”

Cuquawked!

Buddy halted at once.

Javier climbed down.

He reached into his magic storage and pulled out a mana drone.

Then he slipped on his custom glass lens, a thin magical visor that linked directly to the drone’s vision feed.

The drone floated up silently,

and launched forward into the sky.

Javier stood still, arms crossed, watching the image appear across the lens.

Trees…

open terrain…

then…

A town.

The next dwarven settlent.

Half-ruined, surrounded by crude barricades.

But it wasn’t dwarves guarding it.

Halfling soldiers.

Dozens.

So resting in camp.

Others patrolling lazily.

Weapons tossed beside tents.

And then,

he saw it.

Through the lens, Javier saw it.

A small dwarven child, crouched behind a shattered wall, crying silently.

Near him—

a woman.

Her clothes torn.

Her body still.

Surrounded by halfling soldiers, laughing and drinking beside her like it ant nothing.

Javier’s eyes went cold.

His teeth clenched tightly.

“Bastard!”

Without a word, he reached into his magic storage.

Pulled out sothing he hadn’t used before.

A large drone.

Sleek. Armored.

Equipped for siege combat.

He dropped to one knee and channeled mana into it, fingers glowing as he linked it to his visor.

He slid in a fire crystal core, locking it into place with a soft click.

The drone glowed red.

Then—

Launch.

It rose silently at first.

Then shot into the sky with a controlled hum.

Javier’s eyes narrowed.

He extended his left hand.

“Summon.”

Twenty white puppet knights erged in formation behind him, ard and ready.

“Guard .”

Affirmative.

Javier focused again, eyes locked onto the lens.

The drone flew directly above the halfling-occupied town.

The wind shifted.

Javier channeled power into the control feed.

He aid.

“Let’s begin.”

From above—

the drone fired its first blast.

A massive magic fireball, drawn from the charged crystal and focused through the lens array, dropped directly at the town’s entrance gate.

BOOM!

The explosion tore through the barricade—

flas engulfed the guards at the post.

Screams echoed instantly as the camp fell into chaos.

Javier didn’t blink.

He raised his right hand, channeling mana through the visor link.

The drone adjusted position, floating higher, now locked in combat mode.

“Target. Soldiers only.”

Mana surged from his core, connecting to the drone’s mana gun array.

Below, halfling soldiers scrambled—so reaching for weapons, others still half-dressed, caught in the blast’s shock.

It was too late.

From above, the drone opened fire.

Mana bullets rained down in bursts, firing like a machine gun, each round glowing with heat and precision.

Soldiers were cut down where they stood.

So tried to run.

So tried to hide.

Javier controlled it .

Each shot calculated.

Each target marked.

“Scum. You’re not even worth the ground you’re stepping on.”

The drone shifted slightly in the air—cleaning up one squad after another.

Mana bullets rained down.

At first, the halfling soldiers didn’t know what hit them.

One fell backward, chest torn open by a glowing round.

Another scread, turning to run,

only for a shot to hit him clean through the side of the head, his helt cracking with a hiss of steam.

“W-What’s happening!?”

“Enemy!? Where!? I don’t see anyone—!”

The camp turned chaotic.

Soldiers stumbled out of tents, half-dressed, swords clattering to the ground.

A few tried to form a line.

One pointed toward the sky.

“Above! There’s sothing up there—!”

Then he dropped.

Three bullets pierced his armor, one straight through the eye.

Others scattered, rolling behind broken walls or crates.

“Get the mages! Return fire! Return—”

Another blast cut him off.

The mana bullets didn’t just burn, they shattered bone, lted flesh, and pierced armor like paper.

Every shot was guided by Javier’s focus.

From his position far outside the town, visor glowing, he whispered:

“Run all you want.

You won’t make it ten steps.”

Another squad tried to retreat—

but the drone swept its aim, cutting them down before they made it past the well.

Blood spilled across cobblestone.

On top of the damaged central tower,

three halfling mages stood with trembling staffs.

One shouted, panic in his voice.

“Target the sky! Bring it down! Bring it down!”

The drone hovered far above, faintly outlined by the rising sun—

a sleek black shape surrounded by a faint, glowing shimr.

The mages unleashed their spells.

One launched a compressed wind blade.

Another fired a chain lightning bolt.

The third roared and hurled a molten orb of fla.

The spells crashed into the drone, but instead of shattering it,

a spherical mana barrier flared to life with a pulse of orange light.

The attacks dispersed harmlessly.

“What—!? It’s shielded!?”

Below, halfling archers scrambled up the lower roofs, positioning themselves for a shot.

They loosed arrows in rapid volleys—

so enchanted, so standard.

But every arrow that struck either bounced off the barrier or snapped mid-air before reaching the drone.

The drone retaliated.

The gun turret swiveled toward the tower.

Mana bullets tore through the upper wall.

One of the mages was struck in the throat, spinning backward off the tower.

Another scread as three shots hit his chest, knocking him through a wooden railing.

The third tried to jump, but his leg was clipped—he tumbled down and was gone.

The archers were next.

A row of five crouched along a rooftop.

Javier tilted his wrist.

The drone tilted with it.

Two fell imdiately, their bodies sliding down the sloped tiles.

The others tried to reposition,

but the shots followed them like hunting dogs.

One got as far as the chimney before a final burst hit him in the back,

his body crumpling in a puff of smoke and ash.
