Wu Zhong picked her up.
His movents were gentle, in stark contrast with his usual sternness, yet even so, Ye Lingyue couldn’t stop her body from trembling uncontrollably.
It was an instinctual fear of this man.
Even though his arrival had resolved her crisis, it seed to have brought about an even greater one.
This man was beyond her control.
Ye Lingyue wanted to struggle, but her body wouldn’t obey her commands.
The glimring golden light made Ye Lingyue’s heart skip a beat as she tried to lift her head.
Suddenly, a pair of hands covered her eyes.
"Little Yueyue, you are too presumptuous," Wu Zhong said through gritted teeth.
Tears, cold ones, she realized she was crying.
She didn’t know if it was from humiliation, or the terror inside her, but Ye Lingyue couldn’t help but let the tears flow.
She was a tough person who never wept even in life-threatening danger, but now, she found herself crying uncontrollably.
The tears were painfully warm.
"Feng... Xin."
A part near her heart trembled intensely.
Wu Zhong’s eyes were complicated, turning hazy as if covered by an opaque black cloth.
"Don’t ntion that trash in front of ," Wu Zhong hissed viciously, punching the air beside her.
Shards of ice flew, brushing past her face, and she couldn’t tell if her face hurt more or her heart.
The lengthy night passed, and beside the cold Ice Lake, the water turned into steam, bit by bit shrouding the area.
By dawn, all the ice on Ice Lake had lted.
Ye Lingyue fell into a drowsy sleep, and when she awoke, she felt an itch on her forehead. As she opened her eyes, she saw Wu Zhong playing with her hair. Realizing she was awake, Wu Zhong’s gaze turned a few degrees colder.
She found an extra piece of clothing on her body, it was Wu Zhong’s robe.
A faint blush flashed across Ye Lingyue’s face, mixed with an inexplicable sense of gratitude.
He, in the end, did not force himself on her. Perhaps, this person wasn’t all that bad.
Ye Lingyue’s heart ward slightly.
For what reason had he given up?
Suddenly alard, Ye Lingyue realized there was not a trace of Primordial Power within her body.
"No need to worry, there is still so dicinal power within you, you cannot exercise your powers at the mont, since I have sealed your Dantian. After three days, your Primordial Power will recover," said Wu Zhong indifferently, glancing at Ye Lingyue and scooping her up in his arms.
"What are you doing!" Ye Lingyue, rembering last night, was afraid that Wu Zhong might change his mind again.
"Heh~" Wu Zhong chuckled, causing Ye Lingyue’s ears to redden even more.
Ye Lingyue then noticed that a fire had been lit on the shore, where he had also boiled ice water. Next to the fire, several roasted fish were skewered.
Could this man actually be caring?
The man holding her emitted a pleasant aroma of snowlt. Presumably, he had washed himself before she woke up.
Ye Lingyue’s gaze shifted and landed on Wu Zhong.
His clothes were still on her, nothing was laid on the ground, and Wu Zhong had discarded his boots off to the side after fetching fish from the water.
Given that they were on the peak of Ice Mountain, with the ground covered in perennial ice, was he worried she might be cold?
Wu Zhong’s face stretched long.
This damn woman, didn’t she realize that she had exhausted all the patience he had in a single night?
To allow her dicinal power to dissipate, he had no choice but to draw upon his own cold energy, dispersing it bit by bit for her.
His face turned somber, only to find the person in his arms suddenly not daring to move. Looking down, he saw Ye Lingyue curled up into a ball, pitiful, with a mist of tears in her eyes.
