Dao Ge did not dodge, and as Lan Cai’er’s palm was still inches away from him, she suddenly felt a numbness in her wrist, indeed repelled by Dao Ge’s Protective Elental Power.
Dao Ge’s gaze deepened, looking into Lan Cai’er’s eyes with so peculiarity.
He had not slept the previous night.
After returning from Lan Cai’er’s tent, the image of "Evil" being intimate with Lan Cai’er kept reappearing in Dao Ge’s mind.
He endured through the night, and as soon as it was barely dawn, he went dazedly to Lan Cai’er’s tent. Watching Yan Jiu walk out and seeing his equally red eyes, Dao Ge even had the impulse to kill Yan Jiu.
He stood outside the tent for a long ti, until the morning dew had soaked his clothes, before he saw Lan Cai’er walk out. He quickly hid in the nearby bushes.
She tightened her small face, warily looking around before heading toward the pond.
Dao Ge knew it was ti he should walk far away. Yet, his steps seed to disobey his commands, unconsciously following Lan Cai’er.
As Lan Cai’er washed her face, the crystal-clear beads of water slid down her cheeks. In the morning light, her face made Dao Ge stare in astonishnt.
Watching her mutter "Damn it," and taking out her frustration by throwing a small stone into the water, he felt his heart also seed to be struck by a small stone, stirring up an inexplicable ripple.
"Why degrade yourself like this, Yan Jiu is just playing with you." Dao Ge saw disgust in Lan Cai’er’s eyes. He felt displeased and spoke harshly.
How could a man like Yan Jiu be serious about Lan Cai’er? Not to ntion her current "appearance", even the past Lan Cai’er could not possibly hold onto a man like Yan Jiu.
In rcenary City, he had long heard of Yan Jiu’s notoriety; that man was very popular with the female rcenaries. Yet, he remained untouched by any affairs, a true casanova.
Such a man was cold by nature; in Yan Jiu’s eyes, won were nothing more than tools for warming the bed.
"Degrading? Captain Dao, that’s funny. How am I degrading myself? Yan Jiu is handso and strong; any woman would like him, right?" Lan Cai’er scoffed, attempting to push Dao Ge away forcefully.
However, at her just now remark, Dao Ge’s eyes darkened instantaneously.
His grip was terrifyingly strong, as if wanting to crush her bones, the difference in strength between n and won made it impossible for Lan Cai’er to shake Dao Ge in the slightest.
Lan Cai’er suddenly smiled and shouted over Dao Ge’s shoulder.
"Miss Song, what brings you here?"
Dao Ge instinctively looked back, but there was no one there.
Tricked!
Lan Cai’er smirked sarcastically. Indeed, this man would lose his composure whenever Song Jingyun was involved.
Even though she had already guessed the outco would be like this, Lan Cai’er’s heart couldn’t help but feel sowhat disheartened. Seizing the opportunity, she wriggled away from his grasp like a slippery eel.
"Lan Cai’er!"
Dao Ge, taken for a fool, roared at her in annoyance.
That shout truly made both Dao Ge and Lan Cai’er startle; the two simultaneously rembered sothing, and for a mont, ti seed to have stopped.
The early morning woods were very quiet, and his voice startled the birds into a fluttering flight.
Still a handso man, his face reddening with anger, Lan Cai’er looked at Dao Ge, thinking back to years ago.
Back then, she was a naive daughter of a general just awakening to love, and he was a handso spy from the Demon Sect sneaking into the enemy camp.
Because she liked him, what Lan Cai’er did most every day was to pester him in the camp.
He was cold as ice, unwilling to engage with her.
She just pretended to call out.
"Daddy."
Then, when Dao Ge turned his head to salute, she would leap up like a rabbit, wrap her arms around his broad shoulders, and hang from his neck.
Every ti, Dao Ge would roar "Lan Cai’er" and then rcilessly throw her to the ground.
At that ti, Dao Ge had the sa annoyed expression as he does now, his gaze icy cold, as if he couldn’t wait to shake off this annoying plaster far away.
"Lan Cai’er, do you still hate ?" Dao Ge’s tone softened so as he looked at the woman standing by the water.
Compared to a few years ago, Lan Cai’er had beco much thinner, losing the greenness of her girlhood and gaining the grace of a woman; she was like a piece of fine jade that, having been carved by heartaches, shone brighter than ever.
"I don’t hate you anymore, it’s been so many years. The love is gone, and so is the hatred. Captain Dao, I hope you won’t reveal my identity to avoid unnecessary misunderstandings," Lan Cai’er brushed her hair and smiled, but her brows reflected a sense of relief.
She had hated this man for so many years, yet at this mont, she suddenly realized that seeing him no longer caused her heart pain.
Perhaps ti truly dilutes everything, or perhaps she had found sothing more important, or maybe, after being in pain for so long, she had beco numb.
Now, she had family, a sister, and friends; to her, Dao Ge had beco a thing of the past.
Lan Cai’er left, and Dao Ge stood there. He hadn’t missed the relieved expression she had when she said, "The love is gone, and so is the hatred."
Yet why did those words weigh so heavily on his heart, as if he’d lost sothing inside that could never return.
Lan Cai’er was already far away.
"Co out!" Dao Ge shouted.
From the other side of the pond, Xia ng, trembling with fright, walked out.
She just wanted to co to the pond to wash up; how could she have known that she would run into such an intimately ambiguous mont between Dao Ge and that ugly girl Lan Lan?
So, Captain Dao had known that ugly girl all along, no wonder he invited those two freaks to join "Blood Drink" earlier.
"I don’t want a fourth person to know about this morning’s incident, or else, I wouldn’t mind wiping out the Xia Family." Dao Ge was in a bad mood, his eyes flickering with a bloodthirsty light.
Normally, he would have killed Xia ng without hesitation.
But Xia ng’s family and Alliance Leader Song were old friends; he couldn’t make things difficult for Song Jingyun.
"I won’t tell anyone either, rest assured, Captain Dao," Xia ng stamred in fear.
After a cold snort, Dao Ge left.
As soon as Dao Ge departed, the panic on Xia ng’s face was quickly replaced by jealousy.
"Damn Hei Yue, damn Lan Lan, it’s all your fault!" Xia ng’s eyes were red with rage.
Last night, Captain Di, whom she was enamored with, had actually slept in the sa tent as the freak Hei Yue. Every ti she thought about it, Xia ng felt as if a cat’s claws were scratching her heart, unbearably uncomfortable.
Have all the good n in the world been blinded by crap, with Dao Ge, Di, and Evil all taking a fancy to those two ugly won?
Jealousy twisted Xia ng’s beautiful face.
"I will absolutely not let you get your way." After pondering, venom glinted in Xia ng’s eyes as she walked towards Song Jingyun’s tent.
