This courtyard is the Refining Hall of Sea Star Island.
Compared to the Clothes Washing Workshop, the miscellaneous servants who can enter the Refining Hall receive better treatnt and hold a relatively higher status on Sea Star Island.
However, correspondingly, not just anyone can beco a miscellaneous servant at the Refining Hall; working here is famously tough and exhausting.
As the Fishing Old Man led Ye Lingyue and Little Di Shen into the Refining Hall, the place was bustling with activity.
A middle-aged man, as burly as a bear, was walking around with his hands behind his back.
Dozens of miscellaneous servants were refining artifacts inside.
These servants all had strong and sturdy builds, but on closer inspection, there was a slender figure among them. Could there really be a female servant in the Refining Hall?
"Chief, everyone’s been working day and night for several nights to rush the production of spiritual artifacts for the old disciples heading to the Jiu Provinces Ancient Battlefield. You said newcors were supposed to arrive, but we haven’t seen anyone yet."
A sweating servant wiped his brow and complained to the middle-aged man.
"Soon, soon, the Lord Chief said he would bring people over tonight."
The burly middle-aged man, nad Xiong Li, was the manager of the Refining Hall. His status in the Lonely Moon Sea was comparable to that of Master Tan Yi from the Elixir Cauldron.
Even though Xiong Li said that, he was secretly skeptical. The Lord Chief of Sea Star Island was a carefree character, and his words weren’t necessarily reliable. Who knows, he might have gone fishing at the Galaxy Fall and forgotten all about it.
Just as he was speaking, the doors to the Refining Hall opened.
"Xiong Li, look who I’ve brought you."
The Fishing Old Man walked in with a smile.
Seeing the Fishing Old Man, Xiong Li’s eyes brightened, and he hurried to greet him.
"Lord Chief, we were waiting for you. Everyone’s eyes were red from waiting for you to bring the newcors. Where’s the help you found for ?"
Xiong Li’s gaze went straight past Ye Lingyue and Little Di Shen behind the Fishing Old Man, looking into the dark outside.
Where is the person?
"Right here in front of you. It’s this girl."
The Fishing Old Man gestured toward Ye Lingyue.
When Xiong Li got a good look at Ye Lingyue, the large grin on his face quickly vanished.
"Ye Lingyue?"
"Ling Yue, sis?"
Before Xiong Li could speak, two surprised voices ca from not far away.
Two people in the Refining Hall simultaneously stopped their work, recognizing Ye Lingyue with surprise.
Ye Lingyue followed the voices and first saw Huang Jun, but the second person she saw surprised her a bit.
She knew Huang Jun was assigned to the Refining Hall, but why was she here too?
Not far away, a beautiful girl with almond eyes and peach-like cheeks was staring wide-eyed at Ye Lingyue.
This person was Mu Shuang from the Mu family siblings, whom Ye Lingyue and Feng Xun had t several tis earlier during the World’s First Refining in Sifang City.
The story goes that the Mu siblings participated in the World’s First Refining together. Mu Wu died tragically in an explosion incident due to the conspiracy of Hong Mingyue and Lie Xuyang.
Grieving, Mu Shuang and her aunt Mu Ying returned to Mu Country with Mu Wu’s body. The Mu Family Head, considering that Mu Shuang’s artifact refining skills needed improvent, used so connections to send her to the Refining Hall in Lonely Moon Sea.
With Mu Shuang’s age and cultivation level, she wasn’t qualified to beco a disciple of Lonely Moon Sea, but relying on the artifact refining reputation of the "Southern Long and Northern Mu" Mu Family, Mu Shuang smoothly entered the Refining Hall as a female servant.
Mu Shuang hadn’t expected Ye Lingyue to appear in the Refining Hall.
Seeing Ye Lingyue, Mu Shuang had mixed feelings.
Perhaps due to her appearance, Mu Shuang disliked Ye Lingyue at first sight.
Add Feng Xun into the mix, and with Mu Wu’s death related to Ye Lingyue’s artifact cauldron explosion, her dislike for Ye Lingyue grew.
But seeing Ye Lingyue reminded her of Feng Xun.
Ye Lingyue seed to always be inseparable from Feng Xun.
Thinking of Feng Xun, Mu Shuang’s face slightly reddened, and she opened her mouth to ask.
"What are you doing at Lonely Moon Sea? Did Family Head Feng also co with you?"
Ye Lingyue’s gaze turned somber, clearly unwilling to answer.
"Who are you, and what gives you the right to speak to my washing wife like that?"
Little Di Shen, unhappy with Mu Shuang’s rude words, spoke up.
"Washing wife? Ye Lingyue, didn’t you already have a marriage contract with Family Head Feng? How can you now be this unclear-speaking little ghost’s wife? You woman, how can you be so fickle? Family Head Feng must be bewitched by you."
Mu Shuang glanced at Little Di Shen, finding him adorable but way too young.
Even if Ye Lingyue were a cradle robber, she wouldn’t go that far.
"Who are you calling little ghost? Ugly freak!"
Little Di Shen’s temper flared up, being called small and berated by this ugly girl for unclear speech all in one day.
How was his speech unclear? He just liked calling her "washing wife," which was endearingly interesting. Who understood that kind of nuance?
"Who are you calling ugly freak? Not only do you speak unclearly, but you’re also blind." Mu Shuang’s pretty face flushed red in anger, eager to tear apart Little Di Shen’s nasty mouth.
As tensions flared between the two, Ye Lingyue quickly picked up Little Di Shen, and Huang Jun hurried to stop Mu Shuang.
Mu Shuang’s reaction, however, made Ye Lingyue breathe a sigh of relief.
At least it proved Mu Shuang hadn’t recognized that Little Di Shen was indeed Feng Xun reborn.
Ye Lingyue had always been perturbed by Mu Shuang’s earlier interest in Feng Xun. Now, with Little Di Shen having lost his previous mories, she had to be cautious not to let him inadvertently fall for so other beautiful female disciple in Lonely Moon Sea.
However, Ye Lingyue’s concern was clearly unnecessary.
Other than his washing wife, Little Di Shen saw all other won, regardless of age or beauty, as irrelevant.
"Haha, Xiong Li, didn’t I tell you? Look, the little girl knows people in your Refining Hall, and they seem to get along quite well. Now, are you satisfied?" The Fishing Old Man was fully amused by the scene.
Xiong Li awkwardly grinned, but couldn’t muster a smile.
Was the Lord Chief getting old and blind? How were they getting along well?
On usual days, having just Mu Shuang was already a headache for him.
Initially, Xiong Li was also reluctant to admit Mu Shuang.
It wasn’t until the Mu Family ntioned that Mu Shuang participated in the World’s First Refining and did quite well, that Xiong Li relented.
If Ye Lingyue were to be added to the mix, who knows if the Refining Hall could still operate normally.
"Mu Shuang, do you know each other?" Xiong Li decided to ask Mu Shuang instead of the Fishing Old Man.
"We sort of know each other; we t during the World’s First Refining. But, Manager Xiong, she doesn’t qualify to stay in the Refining Hall. This woman’s spiritual spark is the lowest-grade White Fire." Mu Shuang said with extre disdain.
