It was almost you shi (5-7 PM) when the group finally returned to the mansion.

“Quick! Help Wencai inside and call for a doctor!” Lady Xia urgently ordered as soon as they stepped out of the sedan chair.

Lady Su didn’t say much, simply instructing the servants, “Lock the thief in the woodshed for now. We’ll deal with him after the master returns.”

Then she turned to her daughter and said, “Go back to your room and rest.”

Su Li nodded and left with her maids.

On the way, Su Li whispered to Siqin, “Keep an eye on the woodshed.”

Siqin lowered her voice and asked, “Is the young lady worried soone might silence him?”

Su Li nodded.

Siqin replied, “This servant will watch carefully.”

Back in her room, Su Li had just finished washing up when Mohua ca in and said, “Young lady, the west courtyard is bustling. Doctors have been coming in waves.”

“Oh? How is it going?” Su Li asked casually, flipping through a book.

Mohua said, “No one knows who did it, but they say Young Master Xia’s limbs are completely shattered. The bones can’t even be set. He’ll probably be bedridden for the rest of his life. Tsk tsk, it’s so tragic.”

Su Li sighed, “Yes, truly tragic.”

Mohua looked puzzled. “Why does the young lady seem a bit happy?”

Su Li looked at the lively maid in front of her and felt a sense of relief.

In her past life, Mohua had been married off to Xia Wencai, and her fate had been miserable.

In this life, Xia Wencai was already crippled and would never be able to harm her maid again. How could she not be happy?

Mohua asked curiously, “Why is the young lady looking at like that?”

“Because Mohua is beautiful.”

Mohua blushed and said, “Once the young lady’s scars fade, ten... no, a hundred, a thousand Mohuas wouldn’t compare to even a fraction of the young lady’s beauty.”

They had known for a while that the young lady was using dicine to treat her scars. Over the past few days, whether it was their imagination or not, they felt the scars had lightened sowhat.

Su Li chuckled softly, “Silly girl.”

At that mont, Shiqing rushed in from outside.

“Young lady, sothing terrible has happened! There’s trouble at the woodshed!”

When Su Li hurried to the woodshed, she saw Lady Su coming out.

Lady Su stopped her daughter and said, “Don’t go in. It’s too bloody. It’s not sothing a young lady should see.”

Su Li’s eyes turned cold as she scanned the servants in the courtyard.

Despite the chaos in the west courtyard, Lady Xia had still found ti to silence the witness. Truly, she was not to be underestimated!

No wonder she had been able to harm her mother so severely in her past life. Her thods were indeed formidable.

This courtyard was likely filled with her spies.

Lady Su ordered, “Clean this up imdiately!”

“Yes, madam.”

Su Li helped her mother leave.

“For soone to be silenced right in our own ho shows how powerful the other side is,” Lady Su said anxiously.

How could her husband have provoked such people?

Su Li said softly, “Mother, have you considered that this might not be about Father, but about ?”

Lady Su stopped and looked at her daughter.

“About you?”

Su Li nodded. “The thief initially accused . He only changed his story after being exposed.”

Lady Su was puzzled. “But the words on the undergarnt...”

“I had soone change them.”

Lady Su’s eyes widened in shock.

“You... you...”

Su Li helped her mother back to the main courtyard and closed the door.

Then she explained, “Mother, don’t be surprised. I noticed sothing was wrong a while ago. Don’t you think it’s strange that the west courtyard was so desperate to go to the temple? And how coincidental it was that Xia Wencai also appeared at Huguo Temple?”

She hadn’t wanted to reveal this, but her mother was too trusting.

If she didn’t expose the true nature of the west courtyard, her mother would remain completely defenseless.

It was only after the witness was silenced today that Su Li realized.

Her enemy was a venomous snake.

Even with her mories of her past life and the ability to foresee events, she wasn’t omnipotent.

She feared that a single oversight could lead to her mother falling into a trap, and it would be too late to regret.

Only by making her mother see the truth would she truly take it seriously.

Hearing her daughter’s words, Lady Su’s heart was in turmoil.

Thinking back to recent events and combining them with the behavior of the mother and daughter from the west courtyard that morning, a cold sweat broke out on her back.

She quickly pulled her daughter close and asked, “Did sothing happen last night?”

Su Li nodded and recounted everything in detail, omitting the part where Jun Mo had helped.

By the ti she finished, Lady Su’s face was pale with anger.

“That wretch!”

Seeing her mother about to storm out, Su Li quickly stopped her.

“Mother, don’t act impulsively! Calm down first!” Su Li urged.

“How can I calm down when she’s trying to harm my daughter like this?!”

Su Li hugged her mother and said, “I’m fine. The ones in trouble now are that mother and daughter. We don’t have any evidence. If you do sothing rash, it could damage your reputation. Once I find the evidence, you can deal with her however you want, and no one will say a word.”

Lady Su cald down.

That’s right. Without proof, her reputation didn’t matter, but it would affect her daughter.

Lady Su hugged her daughter tightly, guilt written all over her face. “I’m sorry. I’m useless. I’ve made you bear so much alone.”

Su Li said, “Don’t worry, Mother. Evil will be punished. That day isn’t far off!”

Lady Su said indignantly, “But are we just going to let this go? When your father returns, we’ll have him take care of this!”

Su Li shook her head. “Mother, Su Yue is also Father’s daughter. Without evidence, it would only put him in a difficult position.”

Lady Su said, “I’m the mistress, and Lady Xia is a servant. I can easily find an excuse to sell her off or have her beaten to death.”

Su Li advised, “Mother, if we act forcefully, ten Lady Xias wouldn’t be a problem. But if soone catches wind of it and spreads rumors, Father could be accused of poor household managent, and your reputation would suffer. Lady Xia is just a servant, but Su Yue is a mistress.”

Besides, wouldn’t that be letting the mother and daughter off too easily?

Although Lady Su ca from a military family and was sowhat naive, she wasn’t foolish.

After thinking it over, she understood.

Even though her husband had no affection for the west courtyard, asking him to take action without evidence, or acting herself, would indeed give people sothing to talk about.

Su Li comforted her mother for a while longer until Lady Su finally cald down.

Su Li coldly glanced in the direction of the west courtyard. She would find their weak point and deliver a fatal blow!

This ga was only halfway through, and she had the patience to see it to the end!

When the ti ca, she would make that mother and daughter regret ever being born!

When Minister Su returned from his duties, the main courtyard was already quiet.

During dinner, he casually asked about the doctors being called to the west courtyard.

Lady Su said indifferently, “I don’t know who the Xia family has offended, but soone broke all four of their son’s limbs. The doctors say it’s unclear if he’ll wake up. It could be months, years, or he might stay like this forever.”

Minister Su frowned. “Such a brutal attack? When did the capital’s security beco so lax?”

Lady Su sneered inwardly.

Brutal?

She wished she could storm into the west courtyard and smash his skull too!

If it weren’t for her daughter’s cleverness, who knows what she might be facing now!

After the al, the noise from the west courtyard could still be heard even from a distance.

Minister Su rubbed his temples and said, “Tomorrow, have soone send Xia’s son back to his family. It’s not right to keep him here causing such a disturbance. Give them so silver.”

It wasn’t their family who had injured him, so there was no reason for him to stay and disrupt the household.

Lady Su nodded. “Alright.”
