Han Yichen felt a bit awkward. He had only t with Elder Zhai, and that too a handful of tis; thus, asking him to sit in front of Old Master Zhai was similar to asking him to sit in front of the pri minister. He couldn’t move a single finger and could only smile awkwardly.
"Where is Xiao ng?" Old Master Zhai noticed that Han Yichen was not feeling well and couldn’t help but make so small talk. However, as soon as he asked about ng Yunhan, the entire living room turned cold as if soone had poured chilled water on the heads of the Han family mbers.
"She is just feeling a bit under the weather," replied Han Yichen through gritted teeth. He knew that ng Yunhan knew that there were guests at their house, but she was still not coming out of her room. That woman really did not understand anything. She was the matriarch of the family, and yet she did not act like one at all. Truly, his friends were right. When choosing a woman as his wife, he should have truly paid attention to her character and not just the fact that she was his responsibility.
Han Yichen was furious at the re thought that ng Yunhan could not even see the big picture.
Seeing that the situation had turned a bit complicated, Zhai Muchen pushed forth the wine bottle that his grandfather had brought for Han Yichen. He said to him, "Uncle Han, this is a little sothing that our family brought for you. I hope that you will not refuse it."
"Ah, why did you take the trouble?" Han Yichen took the wine bottle with a helpless expression. It was quite an expensive brand that he usually could not drink and only brought it when he was entertaining his clients and new custors.
"There is no trouble," said Old Master Zhai with a smile. He raised his hand and patted Zhai Heng’s head before saying in a low voice, "It was all because of little Ruochen that our Ah Heng is with us. If not for her tily help, I shudder to think what would have happened to this brat." As he finished speaking, Old Master Zhai couldn’t help but smack Zhai Heng on the back of his head in anger. "He is such a troubleso brat that I don’t know what to do with him."
"Oww~" Zhai Heng cried in pain and raised his hand to rub the spot where he was hit. He raised his head and looked at his grandpa before saying to him, "It is not my fault; those people suddenly ca to and started talking badly about our family. What was I supposed to do?"
"Idiot, then you should have retreated. Even the smartest and bravest soldier knows that he cannot take more than forty people on his own and that too with weapons," scolded Old Master Zhai. he glared at the idiotic grandson of his and couldn’t help but hit him again. "You are lucky that Xiao Han was going through that path; if not, then you would have t with your ancestors!"
Old Master Zhai turned to look at Han Ruochen and asked her with a smile, "Thank you for saving this idiot’s life. If not for you, then who knows what would have happened?" Old Master Zhai looked at Han Ruochen, and the more he looked at her, the more he liked her. "Your na is Han Ruochen?"
Han Ruochen nodded, not knowing what Old Master Zhai was trying to do by asking her for her na.
"You see, Grandpa does not have an obedient and sensible granddaughter. How about you be grandpa’s granddaughter?" After he finished speaking, without waiting for Han Ruochen’s response, he turned to look at Han Yichen and said to him, "Little Yichen, our families are fated. What I an is, why don’t I acknowledge Little Ruochen as my god-granddaughter? That way we can treat one another as relatives."
Han Yichen was a bit overwheld by the favour. He knew that the Zhai family was not a normal family; it was one of the most noble and rich families of the quad, and no one could even match up to them. And yet they were willing to beco relatives with him. A young man with nothing but a small pig farm under his na.
On the other hand, when Zhai Muchen heard that his grandfather wanted to take Han Ruochen as his god granddaughter, he resisted in his heart. He raised his head and looked at Han Ruochen’s beautiful face, which was blank with shock and did not want her to beco his sister.
He turned to look at his grandfather and said to him softly, "Grandfather, you cannot do it. If you take Miss Han as your god granddaughter, then she will be targeted by your political rivals."
Old Master Zhai snorted upon hearing this. "Oh, they always cause trouble for ; I cannot even live my life the way I want."
While he was feeling disgruntled, Han Ruochen was feeling quite relieved. She was very worried, for she knew the virtues of her mother and Han Ziyan. If she were taken as the god granddaughter of Old Master Zhai, then she was worried that the two of them would definitely try to take advantage of the position. Fortunately, the thing that she was worried about did not happen.
"Thank you for your kind feelings, Old Master Zhai, but our family cannot trouble you." Han Yichen was very worried when he heard that after taking Han Ruochen as his granddaughter, Old Master Zhai’s political rivals would start making trouble for him. "The feelings are alone enough."
Old Master Zhai was even more satisfied with this family. They did not want to climb higher and had no greed. He then raised his head and looked at Zhai Muchen. He knew his grandson way better than anyone; after all, this brat had never cared about his political rivals before but he suddenly brought them up there had to be sothing fishy!
