She paused and then added, "Of course, I am not looking for a man with a special status. If I find a man who is good to then even if he is not rich, I will willingly marry him." Han Ruochen did not want her father to think that she was deliberately going against her mother. She just wanted him to understand that she was no longer at the age where he could affect or intervene in her decisions. The kind of man she was going to marry – ultimately it was her own decision; neither her dad nor her mom had the right to stop her from pursuing her happiness.

What was more, Han Ruochen knew why her mother was adamant on making her marry a mud-legged person. She was afraid that if she reached greater heights, then there was a good chance that Yun Xinye would be troubled. After all, that man had many ideas in his head even if he did not have the skills to rise above his station.

"Don’t! Why should you lower your standards by marrying a man below your station when you have the ability to marry a man from a good background? Dad was muddleheaded and did not think clearly; it was Dad’s fault. Your sister and mother are really bad-tempered and think too much. Since they want to marry into a good family, naturally you should also have the chance to do the sa."

After thinking it over, he realised that he was once again fooled by his wife. ng Yunhan kept repeating that she was thinking about Han Ruochen, but she never once ntioned that she wanted Han Ziyan to marry an honest but poor person; it was all about Han Ruochen. Why did she not ntion Han Ziyan? Was it not because she was reluctant to even think about such a thing? Why was it that Han Ziyan was given the best of everything but his daughter could not get even what she deserved?

Han Ruochen heaved a sigh of relief when she saw that her father had seen through things clearly. She was worried that if this went on, then her mother would continue to fool her father with all sorts of nonsense. It was not that she wanted to drag this matter, but finding the evidence of Yun Xinye and her mother’s affair was not easy. First of all, her mother was really careful and never t with Yun Xinye directly; instead, she sent things to the Yun house through Yun Xinye’s sister.

Yun Xinye also knew that even though the country had gone through a reform, the ideals and morals of the people were still the sa. If he were caught having an affair, he would be embarrassed to death, and his reputation would be ruined. What’s more, he wanted to use her father as a stepping stone and wouldn’t leave any evidence behind so easily.

Maybe if she were not worried about the financial situation of the family, then maybe Han Ruochen could have done sothing about the affair. She did not believe that after pouring all her energy into finding evidence, she wouldn’t have found anything, but she also needed to take care of her siblings as well as the finances of the family! She did not have the ti to pay attention to her mother’s affairs for the ti being; what’s more, Han Ziyan’s birth was an old affair; she would need at least a few months before she could even dig deep enough to get an answer.

"Dad, you don’t have to worry too much. It’s true that fishing cannot earn a decent sum of stable inco, but at least I can support you and my siblings. You do not need to work so hard."

Hearing his daughter’s words, Han Yichen’s eyes could not help but turn red. Even though he was a grown-up man, at that mont he could not help but shed so tears. Though he never said anything, Han Yichen was really worried about the situation at ho and at the pig farm. The savings at ho were gone, but he had to hand out salaries to his employees on ti. To put it simply, even though he felt he was about to fall sick, he did not even dare to take a day off.

Because of the money situation at ho, Han Yichen had grown a lot of white hair in the past few days. He looked older than he ever did before and if not for the fact that his foundation was good, he would have started looking like he was the younger brother of Old Madam Han.

Unfortunately, ng Yunhan and Han Ziyan did not seem to understand his worries. If anything, their spending habits had turned even worse than before. Han Yichen could not control his wife and Han Ziyan; after all, they were earning their own money. If they did not want to hand over their salaries, there was nothing he could do. These days, except for the family expenses, he did not dare to waste another penny on himself. He was such a big man, but he was only using five yuan a month. He did not even dare to buy protein dishes for his lunch. He only ate whatever Han Ruochen cooked for him. If there were no fish, then he would make do with vegetarian dishes.

As the head of the family, he was worried about the expenses to the point that he was going crazy. Yet his wife did not seem to have the sa worries as him.

Han Yichen thought that even if they had their differences, his wife would care about him; now he knew that the only person who cared for him the most in this family was his second daughter. He pursed his lips and nodded before saying to Han Ruochen, "Ruochen, you...are you working so hard because Dad doesn’t have any money at hand?"

"Yes." Han Ruochen did not refuse. She blankly replied in a cold voice, "I know that my siblings and I are different from Han Ziyan. Because she has no mother, Mom wants to make up for her loss. She even expects us siblings to give way to Han Ziyan. But I know that Dad is suffering hard because of the expenses in the family. Although I cannot fill in the hole that my mother has made, I can lessen your burden a little bit."
