Cough, cough. "The couch is so big… do we really need to sit this close?" Mavi asked, glancing awkwardly toward the kitchen.
He just hoped that when Sniezhana ca out, she wouldn't get the wrong idea about him and her daughter. After all, won tend to be incredibly perceptive about these things. They can usually tell at a glance.
Mavi thought that after he said this, Leoxia would scoot over a little and put so distance between them. But to his surprise, the Ukrainian Deputy Pri Minister's daughter didn't seem to care at all…
"What's wrong? Are you getting shy, Mavi?" Leoxia asked with a playful smile.
Before Mavi could respond, Leoxia suddenly leaned in with a mischievous grin. She brought her lips close to his ear and whispered, "I heard from my classmates that Russian n are really good at that… is it true?"
Mavi almost choked again. He had no idea what was up with kids these days. They had just t for the first ti, yet she was already talking about sothing like this… as if they were old friends.
"What do you an by that? I don't really understand," Mavi replied, playing dumb and taking a step back—figuratively and literally. He was determined to keep up the image of a respectable man who didn't engage in nonsense.
Leoxia shot him a sideways glance, clearly skeptical. She suspected he was just pretending not to understand.
Then, with an innocent smile that showed her white teeth and dimples, she said, "I an fighting, Mavi. I heard that Russian n grow up learning how to fight."
"Oh, that's what you ant?" Mavi let out a small breath of relief. He could already tell that Leoxia was a sharp and cunning girl—soone who could easily turn into a fem fatale in the future.
But, as expected, his instincts were right.
As soon as he answered, Leoxia leaned in again, lowered her voice, and whispered, "So, does that an you're also good at fighting in bed?"
While speaking, she deliberately let out a soft, warm breath against his ear. Caught off guard, Mavi felt a brief mont of distraction—he was being teased.
Mavi knew he had to put an end to this conversation. The cultural gap between them was just too big, even though they were only a few years apart. If they kept talking like this, things might spiral out of control.
This was her ho—Sniezhana, the Ukrainian Deputy Pri Minister, was just a few steps away. If she found out that he was caught up in so flirtatious nonsense with her daughter, it would be impossible to explain.
At that mont, Sniezhana walked into the living room, carrying plates of delicious food. She casually asked, "Dinner's ready. Mavi, Leoxia, what were you two talking about just now?"
Mavi was just about to co up with a random excuse to change the subject. But before he could say anything, Leoxia smiled and answered, "Mom, I was just talking to Mavi about fighting! I heard Russian n are natural-born fighters."
While speaking, she sneaked a glance at Mavi, as if enjoying his discomfort.
Indeed, they say it's hard to deal with both won and troublemakers.
n, at least, have so sense of restraint. But when it cos to won? They don't play by the sa rules. When they decide to go all in, they go all in—even more fiercely than n.
"Fighting? And did you two co to any conclusions?" Sniezhana asked, completely unaware of the double aning. She had been focused on cooking and hadn't caught on to the subtle hints in her daughter's words.
Hearing her mother's question, Leoxia couldn't help but giggle uncontrollably. She spoke between laughs, "Our… final conclusion was… Russian n are really good at fighting!"
She found the whole thing so hilarious that she nearly doubled over with laughter, clutching her stomach. anwhile, Mavi sat there, completely baffled, unsure of what expression to make.
Clearly, even after living two lifetis, he still couldn't quite wrap his head around how to deal with a fourth-dinsional girl like Leoxia.
Sniezhana, on the other hand, seed used to her daughter's unpredictable behavior. She simply gave her a look, signaling that they had a guest in the house and that she should stop fooling around.
"Alright, enough giggling. You two, co eat! The food's going to get cold." Sniezhana called them over to the table.
Mavi obediently took his seat, but he imdiately noticed sothing. Leoxia gave him a sly, knowing look before deliberately choosing the seat right across from him.
That look told him one thing—she was up to sothing again.
Sure enough, his instincts as a man who had lived two lives were spot on.
Not long after he started eating, he suddenly felt sothing soft brush against his leg.
Glancing out of the corner of his eye, he saw the culprit—Leoxia's little foot, wrapped in black stockings, had casually stretched across the table and was now gently nudging him.
Mavi almost spit out his soup. Fortunately, he managed to hold it in; otherwise, he would have made a complete fool of himself.
Cough, cough!
"What's wrong, Mavi? You don't like the seafood chowder?" Sniezhana asked with concern.
"N-no, it's delicious," Mavi replied, quickly wiping his mouth with a napkin.
anwhile, he noticed that Leoxia was watching him with an amused, teasing smile.
Mavi pretended not to notice and continued drinking his soup. Then, as soon as Leoxia stretched her foot forward again to ss with him, he suddenly clamped his knee shut—trapping her foot.
"Eep!"
This ti, she was the one caught off guard. She tried to pull her foot back, but it was stuck. If she pulled too hard, she'd attract her mother's attention.
So, she had no choice but to grit her teeth and remain perfectly still, locked in this silent battle under the table.
Before long, her face turned slightly red from the effort.
"Leoxia? Why is your face so red? Is the heating too high?" Sniezhana asked, noticing her daughter's unusual expression.
"N-no, it's nothing…" Leoxia quickly shook her head, hoping her mother wouldn't pay too much attention to her.
But just at that mont, a phone call ca from the Ukrainian governnt building.
It was urgent. Sniezhana, the Deputy Pri Minister, was needed imdiately to handle an important matter.
