"You have co uninvited, young lady." Master Chunwei said, his voice echoing in the small hallway.
Yu Qi’s eyes shifted from him to Sang Yuling, lingering on the woman for a brief but aningful mont before returning her attention to Master Chunwei.
"Oh... Really? Am I truly uninvited?" Yu Qi asked, tilting her head slightly with a hint of curiosity that did not quite reach her eyes.
"You... Did you follow here?" Sang Yuling asked with a shaking, high-pitched voice.
Yu Qi did not deign to answer Sang Yuling’s question directly. Instead, she lifted her hand, the one currently shrouded in a pulsating, dark red aura. Then, she made a slow, fluid gesture with that hand, as if she were gently releasing a captive bird into the open sky.
The faint trace of the white aura reappeared instantly, swirling gently around her slender fingers like a living, breathing entity. It pulsed once with a soft glow, then pointed, unmistakably and purposefully, toward the inner ritual room.
Sang Yuling was paralysed with shock. anwhile, Master Chunwei narrowed his eyes, his focus sharpening and intensifying. That white aura was clearly being drawn toward the ritual room, as though responding to an unseen call.
"So, it was my own spell that led you here." Master Chunwei said, his tone no longer calm, but edged with sothing much colder and far more lethal. "Interesting... very interesting."
"You used sothing that does not belong to you, Master Chunwei. Did you truly think there would be no consequences for such a theft?" Yu Qi asked, her voice steady, firm, and demanding.
A low, raspy chuckle escaped from Master Chunwei’s throat, filled with dark amusent.
"Consequences? Do you even truly understand the forces you are interfering with, young lady?" Master Chunwei asked in return, his aura beginning to flare ominously around him.
The atmosphere in the room shifted instantly. The air grew heavier and thicker, making it difficult to breathe, as though sothing unseen, ancient, and malevolent had begun to awaken within the shadows.
Sang Yuling felt it imdiately. It was the sa oppressive, sickening sensation she had experienced during the ritual earlier, but this ti, it was far stronger and far more unstable, as if it could spiral out of control at any mont.
"Master Chunwei... maybe we should... maybe we should stop..." Sang Yuling tried to intervene weakly, her voice trembling, but she was imdiately cut off.
"Silence!" Master Chunwei snapped sharply, not even sparing her a glance.
Yu Qi remained perfectly still. However, her eyes had already shifted toward the direction of the ritual room. With her unique sight, she could see sothing beginning to manifest. A dark, distorted shape was slowly forming its body within that room, twisting unnaturally as it took shape.
"You should stop this now, while you still can. Otherwise, I cannot pretend this did not happen." Yu Qi advised Master Chunwei, her tone carrying a final warning.
Master Chunwei stared at her for a long, heavy mont of silence. Then, slowly, the corners of his lips curled upward into a cold, dangerous, and predatory smile.
"Too late." Master Chunwei stated.
The mont the words left his mouth, the door behind Yu Qi slamd shut with a deafening bang. The lights began to flicker violently, casting erratic shadows across the walls.
Then, coming from the ritual room, a deep, guttural sound began to echo. It was not a sound that any human could make.
Sang Yuling, who heard that sound, imdiately turned pale.
"The ritual... It’s still active?" Sang Yuling asked Master Chunwei in a trembling voice.
Master Chunwei did not answer Sang Yuling’s question. His attention was fully fixed on Yu Qi at that mont, as though nothing else in the room mattered. His eyes glead with sothing dark and feverish, almost unsettling to behold.
"Since you have co this far, you might as well witness it. You could also beco its food later." Master Chunwei said, letting out a soft, chilling laugh.
"Oh... you want to be its food..." Yu Qi replied, slowly raising her eyes to et his.
Then, she turned to Sang Yuling with a aningful, almost knowing smile.
Sang Yuling happened to catch that smile. At that instant, a thought crossed her mind. If Yu Qi had not co, did Master Chunwei intend for her to beco that thing’s food instead?
"Master Chunwei... do you plan to kill today?" Sang Yuling blurted out, unable to hold back any longer.
Master Chunwei heard the question and shifted his gaze toward Sang Yuling, yet he still did not answer her. His silence was heavier than any words he could have spoken.
Looking at Master Chunwei’s reaction, Sang Yuling felt a chill run down her spine. She knew then that she was right. Master Chunwei was indeed planning to kill her by feeding her to whatever that thing was inside the ritual room. Her whole body began to tremble uncontrollably.
She deeply regretted coming to get Master Chunwei this ti. If he truly killed her today, what would happen to her lovely daughter? Would she be able to live well without her mother? The thoughts rushed chaotically through her mind, but she could not dwell on them for long, because sothing else suddenly happened.
Bang!
The walls seed to tremble from the force.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
It happened again. From the direction of the ritual room, sothing slamd violently against the door from the inside, each impact louder and more forceful than the last.
Sang Yuling let out a strangled gasp, her legs nearly giving out beneath her as fear gripped her entire body.
Yu Qi’s gaze, however, remained steady, firmly locked onto the door of the ritual room, as if she could already see through it and anticipate what was about to erge.
