"Morning, Mom... Where is Dad?" Chen ili asked casually as she reached for a piece of golden toast, her eyes already scanning her phone for more likes.
"He is still in his room." Xue Jinghua replied with a chuckle.
Chen ili pulled out a chair and sat down to have her breakfast, feeling rather pleased with her "work." Shortly after, Chen Guoliang appeared, looking slightly tired from a restless night but curious about the morning’s developnts, and took his usual seat at the table as well.
Just then, a phone began to ring loudly, the sharp tone breaking the quiet, dostic morning atmosphere. It was Chen ili’s phone. She glanced at the screen and saw the caller’s na. It was her uncle, Chen Song. She frowned slightly, her ego flaring as she wondered why he would bother calling her so early in the morning when everything was already set in motion.
"Who is calling at this hour? Is it the press?" Chen Guoliang asked, looking up from his steaming coffee.
"It’s Uncle Song." Chen ili replied, her thumb hovering dismissively over the accept button.
"Well, do not just stare at it like that. Answer it and see what he wants. He is probably calling to congratulate you." Xue Jinghua said.
"But yesterday, when I desperately looked to him for help in that hall, he did not even bother to say a single word to defend . He just sat there like a coward while that woman humiliated ." Chen ili said, rolling her eyes in irritation before finally sliding the bar to answer the call.
The mont Chen ili pressed the phone to her ear, a loud, distorted roar exploded from the other end of the line. Even without the call being on speaker, the sheer volu of the shouting was clearly audible to everyone sitting across the table.
"CHEN ILI, WHAT ON EARTH HAVE YOU DONE!?" Chen Song shouted, his voice cracking with pure fury.
