"Are you alright?" Angela handed him a cup of coffee.

Jack shook his head and took the coffee. "This feeling of forcibly taking a loved one away from a child is truly awful. I checked, this person really has no criminal record. His actions yesterday were just a montary lapse in judgnt; before that, he was always an honest and law-abiding good person."

Angela shrugged: "I never said that being a patrol officer is an easy job, neither physically nor ntally. He may have been a good person, but that doesn't change the fact that he committed a cri."

Jack finished his coffee in a few gulps, shrugged: "Maybe, poor kid, damn this world." But a thought ford in his mind.

In the afternoon, everyone was recalled to the police station. While Jack and Angela were arresting a child's father that morning, Officer Nolan and Training Officer Talia Bishop arrested a wanted criminal who had escaped from court.

The wanted criminal fled to attend his daughter's coming-of-age ceremony. He was grateful that the kind-hearted Nolan hadn't arrested him in public, and he provided a crucial lead on a drug deal. Commander Gray gathered everyone in the conference room to assign tasks.

"The transaction location is the parking lot behind Stone Ho Goods on Sunset Boulevard. At 3 PM, a car carrying 80 kilograms of cocaine will arrive from xico and park here."

Lucy, taking notes, asked, "So, the drug dealers will et in broad daylight in a parking lot?"

Tim, experienced as ever, explained, "The parking lot of a departnt store is an excellent choice. The traffic is heavy, the entrances and exits are clear, and the large flow of people provides perfect cover."

Commander Gray continued, "The transaction process is very simple. The driver will leave the vehicle, leaving the keys, and the buyer will follow, get into the driver's seat, and drive away. The whole process takes less than a minute."

"According to the informant, the drugs are hidden in a red Honda Civic with Nevada license plates. The parking lot has only two entrances and exits. Here are the specific divisions of labor."

After hearing the personnel deploynt, Jack, who hadn't been called on, raised his hand in confusion: "What about ?"

Commander Gray pointed at him: "You'll drive a patrol car alone and follow . I'll be in plainclothes keeping watch in the parking lot. You're responsible for covering ."

At 2:55 p.m., Jack parked his patrol car behind Commander Gray's old Buick, pretending to go up to give him a ticket. The commander, holding a small pair of binoculars, surveyed the parking lot, picked up the walkie-talkie and said: "Buyer spotted, a blue Dodge Ram, with three Latino suspects inside. The red Honda Civic hasn't been spotted yet."

Nolan and Lucy, the two rookie teams hiding in the two alleys, and Hannah and Angela, the other team, replied on the walkie-talkie, "Received."

Five minutes later, a red Honda Civic with Nevada license plates slowly drove into the parking lot. A man wearing a beanie got out and quickly walked to an unmanned Toyota pickup truck at the other end of the parking lot.

At the sa ti, a man got out of a blue Dodge Ram, climbed into the driver's seat of the Honda Civic, restarted the car, and prepared to leave.

"Action!" With the order from Commander Gray, two police cars sounded their sirens and blocked the entrances and exits of the parking lot. Hannah and Angela's police cars drove out from the underground parking lot, blocking the beanie-clad delivery driver. anwhile, the Honda Civic carrying the drugs forced its way across the dian strip and fled. Lucy and Tim's team of police cars sped after it.

Commander Gray also started his Buick and followed the Dodge Ram, with Jack quickly following in his car.

The Dodge Ram, attempting to escape, found its path blocked by the police car driven by Nolan and Talia Bishop. A criminal jumped out of the passenger seat, using a parked car as cover, and began firing a semi-automatic rifle at the two officers.

The Dodge Ram accelerated wildly and made a U-turn, the screeching tires and gunfire echoing throughout the parking lot.

With a loud crash, the Dodge Ram ramd into Commander Gray's Buick. The deployed airbags instantly rendered the commander unconscious, while the drug dealer in the car, seemingly possessed, staggered out of the vehicle, wielding an AK-47, and began firing into the Buick's driver's seat.

Jack, who had just maneuvered his police car sideways 20 ters away, was terrified by what he saw. Without even turning around to retrieve his M16 from the back seat, or even getting out of his car, he kicked open the door, drew his Glock, and aid at the drug dealer 20 ters away.

Ti seed to stand still. The sound of gunfire between another thug and Nolan's group seed to co from a distant horizon. Driven by adrenaline, their focus had never been so intense. The thug's ferocious expression was magnified in the crosshairs; Jack could even see the dense blood vessels around his pupils.

As the thug raised his AK, Jack's Glock fired, the gunshots continuous until the magazine was empty.

Pressing the magazine release, the empty magazine fell to the ground. Jack quickly moved forward, replacing the magazine. The thug on the ground was dead.

Without further examining the body, Jack kicked the AK aside and continued forward, reaching another thug still trying to resist. Pointing his gun at his back, he yelled, "Put down your gun, hands behind your head!"

Seeing Nolan handcuff the surrendered thug, he finally relaxed. Seeing his concerned colleagues gathering around him, a thought struck him. His hands trembled as he gripped the front of the car, retching.

Having regained consciousness, Commander Gray stood beside him, patted him on the shoulder, and asked, "Are you alright?"

Jack feigned weakness and waved his hand, "I'm fine, I was probably just too nervous."

Commander Gray's usually stern, dark face broke into a rare, sowhat chilling smile as he praised, "Well done, kid, you saved my life."

Just then, a call ca over the radio; Lucy and Tim, who had been chasing the Honda Civic, had successfully apprehended the last suspect.

Hannah, who had been covering her mouth after examining the body, and Angela, who appeared perfectly normal, approached Jack. Angela punched Jack in the chest, laughing, "Your daily shooting practice at the range these past few weeks has been quite effective. You're the best rookie I've ever seen with the best reaction ti. This is the first ti I've seen soone hit all 15 Glock shots from over 20 ters away in real combat."

Jack was shocked. He walked to the body and saw that it had been shot multiple tis in the abdon and neck, and its chest was almost completely mangled, a bloody ss. He couldn't understand how Angela had managed to count all 15 shots.

Although every detail of the shooting was still vivid in his mory, Jack couldn't help but feel uneasy. Had he gone too far? Even missing a couple of shots would have made things easier to explain later.

Suddenly, an idea struck him, and he opened the system in his mind. He was shocked to see a new notification: "Congratulations, host, you have successfully utilized your ntal power in actual combat. Your pistol shooting skills have been upgraded to Proficiency."

He thought to himself, 'Sure enough, ntal power and physical constitution are related to skills. Luckily, I broke through to 20 in ntal power beforehand, otherwise not only would my pistol shooting skills not have improved today, but Commander Gray's life would probably be in danger.'

This system doesn't explain anything clearly; everything has to be figured out by myself. It's really too much of a rip-off.

The result of the shooting in the parking lot was that all the officers who fired their weapons received three days of administrative leave, pending confirmation of the legality of the shooting by the District Attorney's Office. Before leaving work, Jack t with Commander Gray alone and made a request.

"Did you bail out the guy who stole your evidence?" After another fierce battle, a completely exhausted Zoe, as usual, drew circles on Jack's chest.

"Yeah, this guy stole less than $2,000, but the bail is $5,000! Half of my paycheck is gone. I'm going to go hungry this month." Finally feeling refreshed, Jack even had the energy to joke, hugging Zoe and complaining about being broke.

A rookie LAPD officer's annual salary is only around $70,000 to $80,000, about $6,000 a month. Losing $5,000 at once really stung Jack's heart. He had to pray that the guy wouldn't cause trouble again during his bail period, or he'd really be at a huge loss.

Fortunately, he didn't have the typical Arican problem of spending money in advance and having a mountain of bills at the end of the month. Plus, he was living off Hannah's, so aside from the cost of ammunition for shooting practice, he didn't have many other expenses.
