Tim seed to understand sothing: "You an, if we make a big show of it, the other side won't dare to act rashly?"

"No." Jack shook his head. "We can only put on a big show, but we can't actually do it, otherwise their secret operation will fail, and we won't get what we want, so this is the only way."

....

One hour later, Long Beach Cargo Terminal, LA.

"Why did you put a row of conspicuous red lights on the front of this Firebird? Although it looks cool, it's not conducive to night operations at all." Tim complained, but the envy and jealousy in his eyes for Jack's car was genuine.

"This was originally just a toy for attracting pretty girls, not for secret operations. You better pray there won't be a conflict later, or you'll be responsible for even the slightest scratch on my darling."

Jack was sarcastic, inwardly annoyed. His car was just a showpiece, not a real supercar with AI, not even bulletproof, yet he'd impulsively driven it, though it had been quite a thrill ride.

"Jack, Tim, all ready." Angela's voice ca through the walkie-talkie.

The two waiting in the car exchanged glances, opened the doors, and got out. Jack whispered a reminder: "Be careful, stick to the plan."

Tim nodded, said nothing more, drew his sidearm, and crouched down, stealthily making his way towards the dock.

Jack changed his route, also heading towards the dock, and soon appeared atop two stacked shipping containers.

The dock was brightly lit, and a dozen ard n were busy at work. So were operating forklifts to load goods into an open container, while others stood guard with automatic weapons. He also saw the black man who identified himself as Colonel Norman Jenkins next to an SUV, whispering sothing to another man.

A few minutes later, a bang ca from a corner. Colonel Norman Jenkins looked up, waved to the people around him, and everyone imdiately scattered. Soon, Nolan, Nyla, and Tim were brought out with their hands on their heads.

"Nolan, what happened to you? I warned you." Colonel Norman Jenkins spread his hands and walked towards Nolan.

"But I didn't listen." Nolan replied calmly.

"I'm disappointed. I thought you were quite smart." Colonel Norman Jenkins' smile concealed a murderous intent.

"No, my friend is the smart one. Otherwise, the FBI wouldn't even consider him. This is all part of his plan."

Nolan tilted his head, and everyone's gaze followed his. Next to the forklift that had stopped, Jack, who had appeared there at so point, held a gun to the head of a hostage with one hand, while his other hand had already pulled off the tarpaulin covering the goods on the forklift pallet, revealing neatly stacked hundred-dollar bills.

"How much is this pallet worth? Let guess. Twenty million? This is the first ti I've seen soone transport money in a container. Can anyone tell how much money you could fit in a whole container? A billion? Two billion?"

Jack joked with a grin, completely unconcerned that he was being pointed at by several guns.

Colonel Norman Jenkins' smile remained unchanged. "You see, Nolan, you really don't think you can threaten us with a hostage, do you? I told you, sotis we have to accept collateral damage."

Nolan remained expressionless, pointing his raised right hand to his chest, where a red laser dot was clearly visible.

Nyla lowered her hands from her head, crossing them instead, rolling her eyes. "What if this collateral damage includes you? .50 caliber, 350 ters, the best rifleman in the entire LAPD — Angela Lopez. I'm sure you already know all about us."

She waved at the tallest crane on the dock.

Colonel Norman Jenkins' smile froze, finally turning grim.

"Why bother? This is a lose-lose situation. We're trained to complete the mission at all costs."

"Are you sure you can do it?" Jack snapped his fingers coolly. A car approached in the distance, its lights flashing, but no siren.

Lucy and Zoe got out and appeared before them.

"Can you explain who gave you the authority to print counterfeit money in my jurisdiction and kill civilians with impunity?" Zoe questioned righteously.

Colonel Norman Jenkins was numb; a precinct captain about to leave office for politics seed to be the last straw.

"Alright, Norman, let's hear what they want."

A man stepped out from the shadows of the SUV — the sa man who had spoken with Colonel Norman Jenkins earlier.

Jack's eyes widened in shock, his pupils dilating in disbelief. It was a man with a cold, lancholic expression. Fortunately, everyone's attention was focused on him, and no one noticed Jack's montary unease.

"One of you killed Joe Delacourz. Hand him over, and we'll leave," Tim said, glancing at the man before turning to Norman and making his demands.

"What about the money?" Norman tilted his head, gesturing to the container and the pallet on the forklift beside him.

"It's none of our business." Tim glanced at the container cramd with counterfeit money, a barely perceptible look of disgust flashing in his eyes.

"Tim?" Nolan thought he'd misheard.

"Nolan, this is their mission, it has nothing to do with us. Listen to Tim." Seeing that the other party was softening, Jack quickly spoke up to stop Nolan.

The atmosphere beca tense. Colonel Norman Jenkins's eyes darted around, and everyone fell silent, seemingly waiting for his choice.

The man who stepped out walked up to him. "You're in charge of your people, but this operation is being conducted in the na of our agency."

"Alright." Colonel Norman JenggsJenkins finally relented.

"Pettigrew! Hand over your weapons."

"What?" A colleague behind him looked at him in surprise.

"We've been through so much together, and you just betrayed like this?"

Colonel Norman Jenkins was also furious. "I told you, this is ho, keep a low profile. Look at what you've done! What am I supposed to do now, fight the LAPD here?"

He paused, then said in a low voice, "They don't have direct evidence, so keep your mouth shut, leave everything to the lawyers, and you'll be out soon."

Pettigrew pursed his lips, and after a long while, reluctantly uttered, "Yes, sir."
