"The next round of beer is free!"
The restaurant manager jumped out and yelled, trying to salvage the situation, but no one cared about him at this point. Everyone crowded to the window, cheering for their favorite side.
Even Hannah excitedly pulled Jack to the door, screaming loudly, eager for more excitent.
"Kill those sons of Cossacks! Yi~~~ha~~~!"
The atmosphere in the restaurant instantly beca even more heated than during the beauty pageant. Every now and then, a few hot-blooded onlookers would rush out of the restaurant to join the fray.
Jack, who had never witnessed such a fierce side of Texans, was completely blown away. He thought that the "what are you doing? Attack if you dare" attitude was the limit of stupidity, but he never expected to see such interesting people in Texas.
He felt that "lawful evil" wasn't quite accurate; he preferred to call them rebellious kids who had been through the harsh realities of society but remained true to their original nature. Their defining characteristic was one word: rebellion.
The brawl didn't last long. A dozen minutes later, as police sirens blared in the distance, both sides stopped simultaneously, wiped their bloodied noses, picked up their dropped gear, helped their dazed companions, mounted their Harleys, and roared away with a deafening roar.
When the police arrived, only a crowd of onlookers and a few specks of blood remained.
A police car leisurely pulled up in front of the restaurant. A tall Texas Ranger, wearing a white shirt, a white cowboy hat, and a lone star badge on his chest, stepped out.
This was Jack's first ti seeing the renowned Texas Rangers. This special law enforcent unit exists only in the unique state of the United States, as their na suggests — Texas Rangers.
The Texas Rangers and the Texas State Police both belong to the Texas Departnt of Public Safety, but they are independent of each other. They handle everything, from public order incidents to bomb attacks, from border security to criminal investigations.
However, due to certain historical reasons, perhaps tracing back to the Civil War, the Texas Rangers were once on the verge of disbanding, only regaining a certain size at the end of the 19th century, but even now, their size has not exceeded 200 people.
In a sense, the Texas Rangers are the most loyal ard force to the Texas state governnt; only those who have served in the state police for more than eight years are eligible to apply to join them.
"Walker!" Hannah exclaid with delight, running a few steps and rushing into his arms.
"Oh, Hannah, you've grown into a big girl."
Although Walker was very tall, almost 1.95 ters, his build wasn't particularly muscular, sowhat similar to Jack's current physique — muscular but not bulky.
Hannah's excited, forceful movent caused him to take a half-step back, helplessly opening his arms with a slightly embarrassed expression. He seed like a tough guy who didn't easily show his emotions, but there was a clear glint of tears in his eyes.
"Jack, this is Cordell Walker. Their ranch is right next to ours. They almost adopted ."
"Walker, this is Jack, my boyfriend. He's coming ho with ."
Hannah introduced the two to each other. Jack extended his hand to Walker, and the two shook hands, each showing off their strong arms.
"Great lad." Walker patted Jack's arm. Although he looked no more than 30, maybe in his early 40s, he deliberately acted like a mature old man.
The Arican show *Walker, Texas Ranger* wasn't very popular, mainly because the Japanese subtitles weren't readily available. Jack only watched two seasons before his ti travel and didn't have a strong impression of it. However, the actor who played Walker was already well-known to Jack from another supernatural Arican show: *Supernatural*, one of the representative works of the golden age of Arican television. He played Sam Winchester, the younger brother of the Winchester brothers.
The baby-faced young man from back then was now a scruffy middle-aged man, a stark contrast that made Jack uncomfortable as he was a little different from what he imagined. He felt like this guy was about to pull out a dagger and salt and perform an exorcism.
Seeing the Harley enthusiasts all flee and the Rangers appear, the still-unsatisfied onlookers sighed and returned to their seats, even the free beers offered by the waitresses couldn't rekindle their interest.
"Old Thiago ca to see Molly early this morning and told her where you were. Molly ordered to find a way to bring you back. Your house hasn't been repaired in so long, it's uninhabitable. Old Thiago and his wife have been living in the farmhouse next door."
"You know, if I can't carry out Mom's orders…" Walker put on a pitiful look, making Hannah laugh.
"Okay, I understand. I won't let Aunt Molly make things difficult for you."
Walker followed the two back to the dining room, casually ordered a beer, and then glanced around.
"The first ti I ca here, it was your father who brought ."
Jack opened his mouth but didn't speak. In this mont of family warmth, he felt like an outsider.
However, Hannah quickly broke the slightly sad atmosphere, lifting her coat to show him the FBI badge on her waist. Walker's eyes imdiately sharpened.
"Are Stephens's kids ready for blood for blood?"
Hannah nodded. "We're planning to stay here for two days, then head to Georgia."
"Do you need to co with you? Old Anderson called a while ago and asked to prepare so things for you." Walker glanced at Jack, seemingly assessing his fighting ability.
"Thank you, Walker, but I don't want Aunt Molly and Uncle Bonham to worry too much. Your identity as a Ranger is too conspicuous, and we have other helpers."
Walker touched his nose sowhat awkwardly. "Really? I applied to go undercover a while ago. Things aren't very peaceful at the border lately; soone is using illegal immigrants for drug smuggling."
Jack, who was listening, had a sudden thought. *Walker, Texas Ranger* was less of a Texas cri drama and more of a family drama. There weren't many detective plots, and very few action scenes. The whole story basically revolved around the grudges and feuds of the Walker family.
The series begins with Walker's wife being murdered after witnessing a drug smuggling operation. Walker then goes undercover to avenge her, returning a year later. Does this an none of this has happened yet?
"Sister Emily, how are Stella and August doing?" Hearing Hannah's question, Jack secretly pricked up his ears, hoping to have another chance to manipulate fate. If he could have saved Walker's wife Emily from the beginning, perhaps the family's subsequent misfortunes wouldn't have occurred.
After all, in the original series, Emily was the pillar of the family; after her death, Walker's mother, Molly, had to shoulder the burden of the family once more.
