"Tracy is a fighter. Even with a gun pointed at her head, she won't give in."

"During our adolescence, we were particularly resistant to close protection. Our father insisted we learn self-defense so we could get rid of bodyguards after entering university."

Listening to the girl's confident words, JJ flipped through the report provided by the police officers at the scene and pointed to the photos of the car's interior.

"She's right. There are fingernail scratches on the car seat. Tracy was forcibly dragged away."

"Do you think your sister is still alive?" Jack asked Cheryl.

"I know she's definitely still alive." Cheryl's eyes were firm.

JJ was sowhat skeptical. "Was it really confird through that kind of telepathic connection between twins?"

Cheryl's face showed a hint of helplessness, as if she had explained it too many tis.

"It's not as magical as you think. It's not so superpower where I cry if you poke her with a needle."

"But if sothing is bothering her, making her unhappy, I can sense it. Even if we're thousands of miles apart, we can sense each other's recent mood."

Jack and JJ exchanged a glance, both sowhat skeptical.

"Looks like we need to consult our human encyclopedia to see if there really is such a magical connection between twins." Jack said, taking the information from JJ's hand and recreating the scene based on the environnt.

"According to the tire tracks in the photo, Tracy and her boyfriend drove through here. A car was stopped in the middle of the road, forcing them to brake suddenly. They probably even got out to check. Hmm, their footprints extended all the way here, and then they turned back."

"When they got back into the car, the robber suddenly appeared and shot the boyfriend in the driver's seat. Very decisively, the bullet entered his forehead, passed through the back of his head, and lodged in the headrest."

"That's strange." Jack turned to look at JJ.

"For the kidnapper, Tracy's boyfriend was an obstacle. He only wanted to kidnap Tracy alone. Killing the boyfriend is understandable, but going to the trouble of turning around and shooting him face-to-face seems a bit deliberate."

"Out of hatred? Did the kidnapper want Tracy's boyfriend to feel fear before he died?" After hearing Jack's retelling, JJ subconsciously ca to this conclusion.

"Your kind of deduction sounds even less scientific, doesn't it?" Cheryl muttered from the side.

"Maybe. We should go back." Jack shrugged. He was starting to appreciate how great it was working at the BAU. He had a bunch of police officers, detectives, and even FBI agents assisting him. All they had to do was stay at the terminal and summarize and analyze all the information.

After helping the pretty Cheryl into the back seat, Jack drove JJ and the three of them to Davenport's house. The two Justice Departnt agents who had acted as bodyguards followed behind in their car.

This Suburban, a full-size SUV, was 5.7 ters long, over 2 ters wide, and 1.9 ters high. It not only looked cool but was also fun to drive. Jack really enjoyed driving such a big vehicle.

Unfortunately, the BAU travels all over the country, so he'll likely have to hitchhike everywhere from now on; the FBI is unlikely to provide him with a dedicated vehicle.

When the group arrived at Davenport's house, the local FBI support team was leaving. They had routinely ruled out the possibility of bugging in the house and brought a bunch of equipnt with them: several laptops, a complete set of phone tracking and recording devices. When Jack and his group entered, their all-around helper, Reid, was busy setting up and adjusting the equipnt.

A haggard-looking middle-aged man saw Cheryl behind Jack, gasped, and hugged her.

This must be the twin girls' father, Evan Davenport.

Rossi was sitting on the sofa, looking at the thick instruction manual with the sa expression as an old man looking at his phone, completely bewildered.

"Have we been out of touch with new technology for too long?" Jack joked.

"I thought learning to use a smartphone was enough, but I didn't expect even listening devices to be updated so quickly." Rossi looked sowhat helpless. "Back then, we were still using cassette tapes."

"This button answers the phone. This button can mute our voice. When you press it, a red light will light up. We can hear the other party clearly, but they can't hear us."

"Leave the rest to . The computer will record the whole conversation and convert it into text."

Seeing that Reid had quickly set everything up, a young man in a suit and tie, around thirty years old, stood up to say goodbye to everyone and comforted the worried father, Evan Davenport.

"Evan, don't worry too much. The New York office will handle tracing the call's origin. Rossi and his team will fully assist you. Two Justice Departnt agents will stay here for close protection, and two FBI agents will be monitoring the area outside 24/7."

Evan Davenport shook hands with him. "Thank you. Please give my regards to your father."

"Are you familiar with this agent?" Jack asked casually, glancing at the departing figure.

Evan Davenport, preoccupied with his missing daughter, nodded sowhat absentmindedly and explained, "He's from the FBI's New York office. He's quite accomplished for his age. I often deal with his father."

Jack glanced at the clock; it was just before 7 a.m., more than an hour before the kidnappers' promised call. He then asked the others, "Want so coffee? I'll make so and get so breakfast. Everyone needs to be at their best before the call cos."

"I'll help you," JJ, the seemingly gentle and kind type, offered.

"Arican espresso, double the sugar." Reid answered without looking up from his docunts.

"I'll make sure you squeeze out all that extra sugar when we get back." Jack threatened, and together with JJ, led by Cheryl, they went into the kitchen.

While frying eggs on the stove, Jack and JJ started talking about twins again.

"Maybe it's because I'm an only child, but I've always found it incredible that this kind of telepathy really exists." JJ's frowning expression was beautiful.

"Actually, there might be a physiological basis for it." Reid chid in, drawn by the aroma.

"Tell , Mr. Know-It-All." Jack gestured for him to continue.

"I just looked at their birth records. Tracy and Cheryl are rare mirror twins, aning one of their internal organs is in the opposite position to the average person, um, it's the younger sister, Tracy."

"Her heart is on the right, and her liver is on the left."

JJ's beautiful eyes widened in surprise, sowhat incredulous.

"Mirror symtry twins occur more than a week after fertilization by a single sperm fertilizing an egg, and their final DNA strands are completely identical. A small number of studies docunt instances of these twins experiencing shared physical pain."
