Three shots in two seconds — Jack's firing speed drew the attention of Lake beside him.

Lake, the sniper of the PMC team, was a weathered man and at least half Native Arican ancestry.

He was only a little over 1.7 ters tall and not particularly strong, which was probably why he was willing to give the heavy rifle to Jack.

Although the heavy rifle had undergone further weight reduction, many people might be able to achieve Jack's speed when firing it as a semi-automatic rifle. However, to achieve perfect accuracy with every shot was sothing Lake had never seen before.

Finally, the value of the veterans on the other side beca apparent. Although their leader had been killed and their heavy firepower crippled, these n hadn't scattered.

Amidst the chaotic shouts and curses, the people scrambled into the bushes on either side, using tree trunks, shrubs, and even rotten logs as cover to unleash a hail of bullets at the roof of the small building.

Jack and Lake were montarily too afraid to show their faces, and the concrete walls of the building were torn apart by rifle rounds, sending clouds of dust flying.

So of the shooters, whose marksmanship was less precise or who couldn't control the recoil, fired bullets into the fourth-floor windows, into the rooms, and ricocheting off the hard brick walls or concrete surfaces.

Hearing the whistling of bullets coming from the next room, several passengers hiding behind cover in the fourth-floor corridor couldn't help but let out quiet gasps. The four local girls who had been rescued were so terrified that they burst into tears, and JJ could only rely on the only girl who understood English, nad Nadine, to comfort the other three.

As a result, the other equally frightened passengers stopped screaming.

They chattered amongst themselves, trying to soothe the terrified girls. So even pulled out the chocolates they'd hidden away while eating their MRE rations and offered them to them.

In the eyes of others, these little girls were truly just children; due to chronic malnutrition, they were thin and their developnt was even slower than that of eleven or twelve-year-old teenagers.

Gradually, the gunfire seed to subside. Jack changed positions, cautiously peeked out, and was imdiately driven back by several precise short bursts of fire.

On the other side, Lake, who had also changed positions, simply leaned against the sandbag wall with his gun, too lazy to even lift his head.

The Abu Sayyaf militants, feeling they had suppressed the snipers on the rooftop, were urged on by several veterans to crouch low and approach the barbed wire fence.

"Machine gunners, stand by! The rest of you, fire freely!"

With Shebeck's command, the n on the third and first floors pulled out pre-prepared tools like daggers, crowbars, and even claw hamrs, pried off the wooden planks that were barely nailed to their sides, and began firing at the enemy less than a hundred ters away.

Gunfire erupted again. The seven or eight militants trying to approach the barbed wire fence had no ti to react; they all fell to the ground.

Caught off guard by this sudden attack, the militants' gunfire paused. Taking advantage of this opportunity, the two snipers on the rooftop unleashed their fire once more.

Lake seed to have been spurred on by Jack's earlier actions, and his rifle began firing at a rate of almost one shot per second.

Jack switched back to regular rounds, but against the heavy rifle's terrifying caliber, the paper-thin bunkers the militants were using for cover were no match for them.

Tropical trees like oil palms, though seemingly thick, actually had wood fibers making up less than a third of their structure, making them easy targets.

Jack specifically targeted those using these trees as cover; while less efficient than Lake, the terrifying visual effect created imnse panic on the enemy.

Watching their veterans being picked off one by one, dying before their eyes, their comrades being torn apart, so even turning half their bodies into a bloody mist, finally so dropped their weapons and began to flee.

"Try to leave the vehicles behind. Jack and Lake, cover us, we're going downstairs," Shebeck said, starting to run downstairs with his teammates. Isaac, the machine gunner on the second floor, remained stationary, but his assistant, Mo, switched back to assault trooper and followed them down.

The three n reached the first floor and ford an assault team, advancing into the rainforest under alternating cover. Captain Torrance and Gaspare cautiously followed behind, maintaining a safe distance to avoid friendly fire.

Several n attempting to escape in their vehicles were shot dead in the driver's seat by Lake. One vehicle, positioned poorly, had its engine destroyed by the heavy rifle.

Of the nearly 40 attackers, only five or six managed to escape in the last pickup truck, while others fled into the rainforest. At least 30 bodies lay at the scene.

Four vehicles were eventually captured intact. Adding the one from the mine, five vehicles would be sufficient. Each pickup could comfortably fit five or six people in the front and back seats, with a few more in the back. Even if the SEALs arrived, they could accommodate everyone.

The reason so many vehicles were needed was that, according to the new evacuation plan, once the SEAL team arrived, they would cover the passengers and crew as they proceeded to the nearest beach to the south.

A destroyer would provide support in nearby waters, transporting everyone away in the SEALs' ard rubber boats.

The mine where they were now located was at least seven or eight kiloters from the beach, making a quick evacuation on foot impractical.

The group drove the captured pickup truck back to the mine. Gaspare even retrieved several steel magazines for his AK-47; he seed quite fond of his original AK.

Thanks to the excellent performance of the two snipers, the battle went relatively smoothly, with minimal ammunition consumption and non-combatants well protected.

Among the combatants, only Captain Torrance sustained a minor injury; a bullet tore a small piece of flesh from his left arm.

Although it wasn't a serious injury, he was too nervous during his first intense gunfight to notice it until the battle was nearing its end, when he realized half his arm was stained with blood.

Influencer Brie Terry, alerted by JJ, rushed over, snapping photos with her phone — there was no better news material.

After bandaging the wounds of the valiant Captain Torrance and giving him an antibiotic injection, the girls ran off laughing and joking, leaving him alone with the flight attendant Bonnie. Soti during the night, the two seed to have fallen for each other.
