"Probably not?" Jack wasn't too sure. He wasn't very ambitious, and putting himself in Rossi's shoes, after overcoming his problems, he couldn't think of a reason to stay.
But a deep feeling told him it was unlikely. Rossi had gone to great lengths to assemble this task force just for a case with almost no chance of being solved?
If it weren't for the father and son's guilt, secretly sending those gifts over twenty years, and their accidental discovery, this case would have remained a cold case.
"But his book isn't finished yet." Reid looked conflicted. He wasn't as complicated as everyone thought; he seed simply worried about not being able to have his cake and eat it too.
"I won't leave for now." Rossi, who had woken up soti earlier, looked at these worried young people with amusent.
"At least until I've tasted all of Jack's delicacies, I won't leave this team."
"Then you might never leave the FBI in your life." Jack replied confidently.
Although the case was closed, Rossi still invited everyone to stay an extra day at the luxurious five-star hotel. The next day, feeling refreshed, he drove himself to visit Connie and her two siblings, without taking anyone else with him.
Emily dragged JJ out shopping, while the two n stayed in the hotel, unwilling to move.
After the two ladies left, Jack went to the bookstore on the corner and bought a copy of *Of Mice and n*, returning to his room to read.
He genuinely disliked tragedies, including novels, but he had to admit that the book's dramatic writing techniques were superb. He was soon engrossed in it, even deliberately noticing JJ sneaking into his room.
"Still thinking about that father and son?" JJ glanced at the title, placing a nice bottle of champagne and two wine glasses on the coffee table beside him.
"Although the case is solved, this is the first ti I haven't felt any sense of accomplishnt after solving a case."
Jack also placed his book on the coffee table, reached out and pulled her into his arms, burying his face in her neck, inhaling the scent of her hair.
"Rossi's heart is at ease now. As for you, I don't like seeing you so gloomy, even though you look handso."
JJ pushed his head away and nestled herself completely into his arms; she liked this position.
"I'm not as fragile as you think. I just simply hate that feeling. I've always hoped to be on the side of absolute justice."
"To Connie's family, we are justice." JJ had already noticed his unease and was there to comfort him.
"I know, I'm just feeling a bit uneasy." Jack didn't know what he was struggling with; he just felt uneasy.
Since obtaining the system, he was much more confident than in his previous life, especially with his almost superhuman healing abilities, which allowed him to avert many inevitable tragedies.
However, this ti, reality seed to be mocking him, coldly telling him that he had been too arrogant, and many things were already predetermined.
Jack knew this was actually a good thing, reminding him in ti before he fell into self-inflation without realizing it.
Otherwise, he might have really gone down that path of heroism, staging a drama of "with great power cos great responsibility."
Although he might not actually save the world, it's quite possible that he'll take on all the responsibilities of those around him, and such a person is almost destined to suffer a lifeti of pain.
"I never expected you to be a perfectionist," JJ said, amused, and kissed him on the cheek, as if coaxing a child.
Jack pursed his lips and searched her fair neck for a while before finally capturing her earlobe in his mouth, mumbling, "Kids are all perfectionists. I never wanted to grow up."
"Jack… I want to take a shower first."
"Yes, ma'am."
...
Rossi returned the property to Connie's family. In his words, whether they sold it or moved in, he hoped this small help would allow the three siblings to start their lives anew.
He also planned to return the bracelet; it belonged to the children's mother and had been given to him by their grandmother.
Connie accepted the bracelet, then turned and gave it back, placing it in Rossi's hand.
In any case, for Rossi, the case that had plagued him for years had finally been ended by his own hand.
Back in Los Angeles, Hotchner's problem seed to have been resolved as well. The couple were undergoing therapy together, which might last for several sessions, but seeing the occasional stiff smile on that poker face, everyone finally felt relieved.
Just when Jack thought everything had finally returned to normal, an unexpected catastrophe suddenly descended upon him.
"We need the BAU team's help." With the workday about to end, Hannah suddenly appeared on the 16th floor with a stern face, looking rather reluctant as she approached JJ.
An atmosphere of gossip imdiately filled the office. Even Rossi, who usually secluded himself in his office writing, made a rare appearance in the hallway.
"What happened?" Seeing Jack clearly restless yet trying to appear nonchalant, Reid, unusually perceptive, didn't ask directly but turned to Emily.
Emily completely ignored him, opened a bag of chips, and craned her neck to look at the closed door of JJ's office, occasionally glancing back at the scumbag.
Finally, the office door opened again, and Hannah walked out, followed by JJ.
"After explaining the situation to the team, we'll set off imdiately." JJ saw Hannah into the elevator in a very friendly manner, then turned and glared at Emily, who had a gossipy look on her face.
"et in the conference room, I think we have sothing to do." Rossi said with a strange smile, then knocked on Hotchner's office door.
A few minutes later, the group quickly walked out of the conference room. The case was urgent; two girls had been missing for more than 18 hours, and three hours earlier, the body of one of the girls had been found, in a grueso state.
The LAPD urgently contacted the FBI, and the departnt wanted the BAU to lead the investigation; they needed to go to the scene imdiately.
The body was found in a dry drainage ditch in the southern suburbs. When the group arrived, the LAPD had already cordoned off the area, and several news vans were surrounding it.
This area was not within the Wilshire Police Station's jurisdiction. Jack didn't see any familiar friends, and there was no Channel 8 logo in the news vans, which made him secretly relieved.
"Have you identified the deceased?" Hotchner briefly greeted the sheriff in charge of the scene and got straight to the point.
