Jack never expected to encounter two unconventional brothers. Chris and Braxton, after learning the truth, calmly devoured an entire pot of at, and from then on, their farm had over a dozen free-range piglets.
To achieve the more delicious taste Jack described, they even self-taught the art of castrating pigs. Fortunately, their farm was remote enough that they didn't plan to sell the pork, otherwise, they might have been targeted by security forces.
After finishing the braising ingredients, soone couldn't resist any longer, hopped on the farm's electric tricycle, and went to find the Wolf brothers for a shooting contest.
If anyone saw Jack using a sniper rifle, they would find it quite unscientific. Even a super expert like Chris, when using a Barrett, starts calculating bullet drop at speeds above 200 yards.
If the wind speed is high that day, at speeds above 300 yards, he needs to carefully calculate the impact of wind direction and current on the bullet. At even greater distances, factors such as humidity and temperature must be factored into the calculations.
At extrely long distances, even the acceleration caused by the Earth's rotation (Coriolis force) must be taken into account.
Jack, however, has a shooting accuracy bonus from his system skills, so he shoots purely by feel. At 1200 yards, he can almost always hit a fixed target the size of a human head, if he wants to.
Beyond 1200 yards, the further the distance, the lower the hit rate, and there's no pattern to it, unrelated to the first-shot success.
On the other hand, even at a mile (1760 yards), Chris can achieve an 80-90% hit rate if he gets a first-shot success, based on his calculations.
Even if he misses the first shot, he can still achieve a similar level after correcting the trajectory.
But for Chris to consistently hit the target with his first shot at 1200 yards is almost impossible.
Sudden changes in wind direction at a distance and the shooting conditions all affect the probability of a first-shot success.
For a good sniper, luck is still a key factor when shooting at extrely long distances. Simply put, skill is essential before leaving the rest to luck.
But if your skill isn't up to par, even if you're incredibly lucky and get three gold items in ten consecutive draws, you'll still miss. Of course, super lucky players who get ten gold items in ten draws are a different story.
Fortunately, Jack's acting skills are now superb. Occasionally, he misses a few shots, but no one notices anything amiss. Watching him pretend to doodle and calculate various data on paper, just like Chris, he actually looks quite convincing.
Of course, the quality of the gun and bullets also determines the skill's maximum bonus. If Jack were to replace his current Barrett MK22 with a CheyTac M200, his mid-range accuracy would probably increase by another hundred or two yards.
Happy tis are always short-lived. When Rossi and Professor Harper returned with empty buckets of water, the boys had no choice but to pack up and go ho. They had promised to have a big al, and they couldn't let everyone go hungry. As it was getting dark, Jack rushed back to the Wolf brothers' villa and plunged into the kitchen to continue the work he hadn't finished.
Having cooked European dishes for a long ti, Jack focused on other cuisines this ti. Due to the daily absences of two elderly people, one classic dish was missing from the table. However, the signature dishes—atballs in broth, delicate soup, and braised shredded beef—were all present, and of course, the braised offal that the Wolf brothers had been longing for was indispensable.
Jack even specially ordered eels from a specialty market a week in advance, costing over $200 a pound, just to make an authentic eel dish.
Using the finest pork ribs, alternating between lean and fatty at, deboned and cut into chunks with the skin on, soak in cold water to remove blood. Place the seasoning in cheesecloth, pour boiling water over it, and once fully dissolved, discard the cheesecloth and residue. Add water and the pork chunks, and boil over high heat for an hour to color them.
Then remove and rinse clean, place on a bed of cinnamon, fennel, and other seasonings, pour in the previously prepared water, add cooking wine and soy sauce, and continue to simr over high heat. Finally, add a generous amount of rock sugar and simr over low heat until the sauce thickens. This is the braised pork that Jack ate every spring in his previous life—salty and sweet, rich but not greasy.
This dish was probably the most popular on the table that day. A thick sauce was poured over rice, topped with large chunks of the fatty and lean braised pork; a gentle press allowed the oil from the fat to seep into the bright red rice, releasing an irresistible aroma.
Humanity's innate craving for fats and carbohydrates finds ultimate satisfaction in this perfect fusion.
Of course, the two dishes that relied heavily on knife skills also garnered unanimous amazent.
Everyone watched as his knife moved with lightning speed, making a series of soft tapping sounds on the cutting board, before he deftly placed the entire block of tofu into a clear broth made from ham and chicken, instantly transforming it into a flower.
Finally, when he placed a berry in the center of the tofu, everyone's mouths ford an "O."
"Is this magic? How did you do that?" Reid asked incredulously.
Amidst the gasps of amazent, Jack replied with an air of nonchalance, "I just handled it carefully so it wouldn't break."
If it weren't for the final unexpected turn of events, Jack's "team building" could be considered the most perfect dinner ever.
Just as everyone had finished their al and were gathering in small groups to discuss whether to play a couple of rounds of cards or try their newfound experience of using an air rifle to kill rats, the Native Arican girl, Alia, received a phone call from her hotown.
Seeing Alia rush into Braxton's arms, sobbing uncontrollably, the others exchanged glances. Although they hadn't known each other for long, this kind and beautiful Native Arican girl had left a good impression on them all.
Especially JJ; in less than a day, the two girls, with similar personalities, had beco inseparable best friends.
Listening to the girl struggling to hold back her grief, sobbing and choking as she recounted the contents of the call, everyone's spirits sank.
The call was from Alia's father, Martin, who inford his eldest daughter of the tragic news that their youngest daughter, Alia's younger sister Natalie, had been found frozen to death in the wild that afternoon by a hunter.
Hearing Alia plead with Braxton to take her ho as soon as possible, Jack instinctively asked, "Alia, where exactly is your hotown, that reservation?"
"Wind...Wind River Valley."
