"I have an idea that I need your help to refine. Captain Anderson sent the information on the Southern Front; let's discuss it together." Jack waved his phone at Nolan.
The next morning, Jack and Nolan rushed to the police station, dragging Commander Gray into Zoe's office. A full hour passed before the door finally reopened.
"You're the most audacious guy I've ever t, Officer Tavelor!" Commander Gray muttered to Jack, his face dark.
Nolan chid in, "But you can't deny it's a brilliant plan. If it succeeds, we can—"
"Of course I understand, that's why I didn't strongly object." Commander Gray interrupted him, sowhat annoyed.
"From now on, only a limited number of people will know about this plan. The briefing is about to begin; you have five minutes to change."
"Yes, Commander." The two quickly ran to the changing room.
The briefing room was unusually crowded today, with Commander Ben Cicora of the Anti-Gang and Narcotics Division and a group of detectives in attendance.
"Sorry, I'm late." When the grim-faced rookie Nolan entered the room, Tim was the first to stand and applaud.
Jack, who followed, didn't go in but leaned against the door, smiling and clapping as well. This was a mont of glory for the rookie; everyone present cheered for his courage.
Even among police officers, not everyone dared to face a large-scale violent gang attack, let alone a rookie who had only been on the job for less than six months.
Once everyone was back in their places, Zoe stepped onto the podium.
"Yesterday, the Southern Front attempted to murder one of our officers. Today, it's our turn to fight back. Now, please let your commander present the details."
Commander Gray then took to the podium.
"So of you may already know that the Southern Front originated 15 years ago, organized by a group of white supremacist prisoners, and since then, they have expanded rapidly in various fields."
"Drugs, prostitution, extortion — they do all sorts of evil, but what distinguishes them from ordinary gangs is their involvent in the arms trade, which makes them extrely dangerous."
Commander Gray pressed the remote control in his hand, and a white man in his sixties with a mohawk appeared on the large screen: "Their leader, known as 'King Midas,' has been sentenced to three life sentences and is currently serving his ti in prison."
"This is his son, Cole." A young white man appeared on the screen, looking like a carefree, naive young man.
"He currently controls the Southern Front's daily operations on the streets, but there's no doubt his father is the mastermind behind it all."
"Forcing Cole to rescind the kill order would be incredibly humiliating for him, so we need to first severely damage their daily 'business' before contacting his father."
As the briefing ended, Nolan, Jack, Angela, Tim, and Nyla were left behind, along with Commander Ben Cicora from the Anti-Gang and Narcotics Division.
After a bald, muscular black man wearing a black short-sleeved T-shirt with the SWAT badge rushed in, Zoe introduced him to the crowd: "This is Daniel Harrison, the SWAT team leader. He and his team will be responsible for providing backup for us."
"Next, Jack Tavelor will explain our real plan."
Fifteen minutes later, everyone present stared at Jack with astonishnt, seemingly unable to believe that this seemingly far-fetched yet practically feasible plan had co from the hands of this excessively young, ordinary police officer.
"Let reintroduce myself. Everyone calls Hondo. I really like this plan; it's bold, ticulous, and very innovative," the bald, muscular black man said, extending his hand to Jack.
Jack quickly reached out, feeling the man's firm grip. He had watched a few episodes of *S.W.A.T.*, and he had to admit that Hondo was a good leader.
"I heard you're a good shot too. Co join our team soti," the stern-faced Hondo invited.
Although he knew this SWAT team leader had ulterior motives, Jack was still tempted. While he had no intention of joining SWAT, the prospect of sparring with those muscular n was certainly appealing.
If he could deepen their relationship further, perhaps he could even get a free pass at SWAT's expensive outdoor shooting range?
Just then, Angela walked over with a mischievous grin, pulled out her palm-sized Beretta 950, and handed it to Jack: "I didn't expect you to suggest this plan. I'll get you so spare underwear later."
Jack was speechless, but accepted the toy-like little gun.
By afternoon, the temporary detention cells at the Wilshire Precinct were overflowing. The LAPD and LASD had mobilized their entire forces, launching a targeted sweep of the Southern Front in over a dozen cities in the greater Los Angeles area.
In just half a day, all brothels, casinos, and even illegal car rental operations linked to the Southern Front were completely wiped out; vehicles, goods, and firearms were all confiscated.
"Why couldn't the police have acted against these shady businesses sooner? We had such clear intelligence," Lucy asked her training officer, puzzled, as she left the detention cell.
Tim looked helpless. "Take down one criminal organization, and another rises up. We usually don't waste police resources on these, but today is the perfect opportunity."
"Clearing out the Southern Front's territory will allow other forces to take over. This kind of targeted strike will... What the hell is this?"
Tim looked in surprise at the conference room, where Captain Anderson, dressed in civilian clothes, was standing with a taller blonde woman in uniform and wearing the insignia of a commander. The two were whispering to each other.
Although everyone had heard the news that Zoe was leaving her post and entering politics, it was only a rumor until the official notice was issued.
Lucy, who also saw this scene, was puzzled. "Is this the new commander? At this ti?"
"Tim, don't you think this new commander looks familiar?"
Tim's expression was strange, his gaze sweeping back and forth between the new female commander. Finally, Lucy couldn't help but drag him away.
After the two left, Nolan walked into the briefing conference room, which was completely separated by large floor-to-ceiling windows.
