Ella's heart dropped.
Ella realized that all the convincing she did still did not amount to her freedom.
He could get her the phone but he would not let her out.
Adrian was a paranoid person and her constant efforts to escape him had only made his paranoia further severe.
If she aggravated him further, she would probably be pushed back to square one.
''I... was just asking...'' she mumbled and focused on eating.
Seeing the listlessness on her face, Adrian's face hardened. The entire air around him was suffocating.
The happiness that she radiated when she was making pancakes and watching him try it had long disappeared and even though her expressions were not of the hatred that she spared him before, it still made her feel distant to him.
There were sounds of approaching footsteps at this mont and the stiff atmosphere around the table was interrupted by Ji Yan who walked in with a few people.
''Second Master, they are here to renovate the second floor and these four people would be fixing the library...'' his curious gaze wandered off to the back of the elegant and graceful back of the lady who was sitting next to Adrian.
Considering that the only woman Adrian ever paid attention to was Ella, it made his assistant curious as to who this lady could be but then... the figure was rather familiar yet unfamiliar at the sa ti.
''Hmm? You are fixing the library?" Ella's turned to look at the man.
Ji Yan was shell shocked, ''Miss Yu...?"
Ella frowned, ''Don't tell you also can't recognize anymore?"
Ji Yan smiled bitterly. He had only seen the woman dressing in clothes that barely fit her. She dressed up to nines like a superstar, leather boots and pants and all that but she struggled to breathe in them after every step she took.
Even though her face remained the sa, her entire aura seed to have changed.
The rest of the servants seed to share the sa sentints with Ji Yan as they looked at him with a 'I get you' gaze.
Ella sighed. She rely started wearing clothes her size and her current style, ''Don't worry... if you all want to see dressed up like a superstar, I will keep switching styles every once in a while.''
Ji Yan smiled bitterly, ''You must be kidding, Miss Yu. You look great,'' he looked at the servants who nodded eagerly.
They did not want to see a smokey eyed supermodel in barely fitting clothes walking down the staircase at the crack of the dawn. It was scary at tis.
''You just said you were getting the library fixed,'' Ella pushed herself to her feet, ''Have you already decided on the plan? Can I help you out?"
''That...'' Ji Yan hesitated, ''It took us a few weeks because most of the rare books had burnt in the fire or else, the plan...'' he looked at Adrian.
Ella suddenly rembered that the burning of the floor above was her doing as well. She did it just about a month ago, wanting to burn down the entire Eve Mansion and run away but then she got stuck in the fire she had started.
It was a close death experience but when she woke up, she was already in the hospital. The constant failures of her plans triggered her even more into plotting against Adrian.
''You can help,'' Adrian calmly said.
Seeing that she sincerely wanted to help and the Second Master had no issues, Ji Yan was more than agreeable. As long as she did not burn down the mansion again, the rest would be fine.
"Oh, that's great then. The previous library was filled with all classics...'' Ella started.
Ji Yan was speechless. What do you an all classics only? They included rare dical books, economics books, political books, business books, literary and philosophical classics and many more things.
"Unfortunately, they were all burnt down...'' 'by ' was left unsaid.
''However, we can take this chance to make the books more diverse. You can put fictional books in there. Oh, on the left side which was filled with business books, try to put so dark romance books. Replace so of the classics with trending s and trending thrillers. Ah, yes. How could I forget?!"
Ji Yan's mouth had ford a 'O' that could fit two potatoes inside but hearing her say she forgot sothing, he flinched. His soul was trembling in fear of what the prestigious Eve Mansion's library was about to turn into.
''Add comics. A lot of comics of all genres...''
"C-Comics? Do you like comics, Miss Yu?"
''Not as much. I like reading but sotis when I am tired, I would rather read skim through the comic books instead of exerting my brain. Or all of us can even read so before bedti,'' Ella shrugged.
Ji Yan: "_" I don't want to read comics before bedti.
Ella was an avid reader as a teenager but life changed a lot in her late teens and she dropped these hobbies. Since she was living here, she should make herself comfortable.
Adrian had his forehead propped on his fist as he watched the girl flurrying about instructing the people on the library design. Sothing twinkled in his eyes.
Later that day, Adrian went to his study. And Ella busied herself in the setup of the library and personally went through the book collections.
Much to Ji Yan's relief, she was rely teasing him and she did not completely exclude the classics and informational books. But he knew for a fact that the current library was no longer going to be as elegant as aloof as before with all these romance books in the shades of red and pink.
Later that evening, an unexpected guest arrived at the Eve Mansion with so uncharitable intentions.
