"How are you feeling today, Mrs. King?" The old doctor, Dr. Xiao, looked at her with slight concern.
"Exceptionally well," Ella found the old man’s gaze to be weird all the ti.
Like, everyti he looked at her, he would look at her like she was a dying person.
Dr. Xiao adjusted his glasses and sighed for the umpteenth ti, "How sinful, how sinful," Mumbling a series of holy prayers, he left the room.
Ella looked at his retreating back in amusent.
It has been three days since her conversation with Adrian.
After they talked, he told her that if she wanted to, she could stay here to recuperate.
Ella did not understand imdiately what he ant by that. She told him that she was not sick.
Then, he revealed that Dr. Xiao was also known for his expertise in psychiatry and he could help her with her nightmares.
And it finally dawned on her. After all, Adrian had witnessed her suffering from nightmares for so ti now. This ti, her condition surprised her too, because she hadn’t expected herself to pass out for 3 days.
That night, after tossing and turning for a long ti, Ella made up her mind to go through the treatnt.
Ella had long wanted to consult a professional regarding her condition; however, things were risky back then.
She was constantly wary of Adrian and Esther. She did not want to arouse the forr’s suspicion or the latter’s attention.
But now, things have changed between her and Adrian. Although Ella had never thought of revealing everything about her past to him, she felt no qualms receiving treatnt in his presence.
’Click’
The door opened and Adrian walked in, a phone pressed to his ear.
Ella batted her lashes at the man when their gazes t.
And he imdiately circled the hospital bed before reaching her.
Grabbing the back of her neck, he leaned down and captured her lips.
Up so close, Ella could hear the sound of the person on the phone call as he talked about so business deal.
Red exploded on her cheeks as she tried to push him back but he pulled her closer, thrusting his tongue inside her mouth.
Adrian kissed her until she was breathless before finally releasing her neck.
As he stood to his full height, he licked his bottom lips, "Yes, do that," And even continued the business call with a tone so nonchalant as if he was not the one who just sucked all the air out of her lungs.
Ella sat there in a daze until he hung up on the call.
"Baby, how about we go out today?" She looked at him.
Adrian tilted his head, eting her gaze, "Like, a date?"
Ella blinked. Hey, why did this sound familiar...?
"Ask properly," he said.
Ella: "_"
This... hadn’t she said sothing like this when he took her to the amusent park?
Ella’s eyes twinkled, and a mischievous glint flickered in her gaze.
"Baby, you are the only sun in my sky. How can you be unwilling to spread your rays on ? Take out, please," She grabbed his hand, swaying it back and forth wilfully.
Adrian cleared his throat and averted his gaze.
"Baby... the only sun..."
"Fine."
Ella grinned. Adrian, ah, Adrian, you want to tease ? You still have a long way to go, princess!
...
Amidst the snow-clad streets, a black Bentley ca to a stop in front of the swankiest shopping district in Country A.
The scent of fresh blooms wafted from the sidewalk planters, mixing with the distant aroma of coffee and patisserie sugar.
Ella stepped out in a pale cream sundress, a soft knit cardigan draped over her shoulders. After her spa session, her face glowed with pinkish hue and her short hair frad her face perfectly, contrary to how uneven it had looked a few days ago.
"I can walk," she muttered when Adrian rounded the car to offer his arm.
He didn’t say a word but took her hand anyway, locking their fingers together as if daring anyone to pry them apart.
Ella sighed, "Baby, do you ever stop to think what would people think if you are this clingy?"
"You are my wife," Adrian replied, unbothered.
"But people don’t even cling to their wives that much..."
"I do," He righteously said, leading her into an exquisite clothing store.
The store was mostly pastel thed and Ella was imdiately srized by their intricate artistry.
’’These are beautiful..." Her fingers trailed over a soft blue shawl.
An hour later, that shawl, along with eleven dresses, six pairs of heels, hairpins, perfus and other stuff were being packed into glossy shopping bags.
"Adrian..." Ella mumbled as another employee scurried to swipe a scarf she’d only brushed against.
"Hmm?"
Her jaws dropped when she watched the number of bags that Ji Yan was carrying to the car.
"Are you buying everything I touched... looked at?" she rephrased her question when she saw the beautiful skirt she just looked at being packed.
"Mm."
He looked so unfazed that Ella wanted to peek into his mind and see what he was thinking. "Are you... Are you not afraid of being bankrupt?"
He looked at her like she was talking in so foreign language, "No."
Ella choked on her unshed tears. Fine, you are rich. Barely nouveau riche people like won’t understand your glitz and glamour.
They made their way out of the store with half the staff bowing behind them.
Despite making her peace with it, Ella felt the pinch in her heart as she watched the number of bags being carried out, "Baby, we need to save so money in the future..."
"No need."
Ella glared at him.
But oblivious to her glare, Adrian continued indifferently, ’’I have enough money."
Ella gulped. Ah, my filthy-richie-rich princess, please stop shining so bright, you will attract more money grubbers like !
Suddenly, a voice cut through the air.
"Adrian."
Ella looked ahead.
A woman in her early fifties, dressed in a crisp black suit, stood not far from them. Her face was porcelain-perfect, but the way her eyes bored into Adrian made Ella tense.
Adrian’s grip tightened slightly around Ella’s hand but no words ca out of his mouth.
