Now reading: Chapter 364 – Names? from Reborn With a Magic System, a Reincarnation novel by Zorac.

With Mage Thresbane and his father engrossed in discussing the layout of the new city, Damion slipped out of the study to find Elicia. He found her relaxing on her bed with her tablet out projecting a magic seal.

{Magic seal recorded}

[Whirlwind Sphere - Active (F Rank 50 Mana) Send out a whirlwind condensed into a small sphere. Will rapidly slice your target on contact.]

The notification from the Magic System surprised Damion. He had barely glanced at the magic seal, but at least it did not take away one of his open spell slots. Since he had yet to acquire the Wind affinity, the spell would sit in the Magic System’s library of spells he could not use.

However, since he received the one notification, he decided to quickly take a look at the couple of notifications he had received early, but had not bothered to look at.

The two spells increasing in Rank was a pleasant surprise for Damion. Raising a spell to B Rank was hard enough and most of his spells were still at C Rank or lower. These two spells were ones in constant use and quite useful to him. Now that they were A Rank, they offered him a few new advantages.

Concealed Aura now could hide his magical presence from anyone A Rank and below. Which would make it a bit safer for him if he was out in the wild. True Sight rising in mastery ant he could now see the Rank of things up to 200 ters away, granting him an even earlier warning if sothing stronger than him was heading his way.

“You just going to stand there, or are you going to join ?” Elicia asked, snapping Damion out his thoughts.

Damion responded by kicking his shoes off and plopping down on the bed next her.

“Have you managed to learn Whirlwind Sphere?”

“If I had managed to learn it, then I would not be sitting here trying to morize it,” Elicia snapped.

“Right. Sorry. Should have thought of that,” Damion told her. “Mage Teft and I have made a bit of progress in our city planning. A whole group of powerful people are going to be helping us now. One of them is in talking with dad about the city plans.”

The tale has been illicitly lifted; should you spot it on Amazon, report the violation.

“That’s nice,” Elicia answered, trying to stay focused on the magic seal.

Since Elicia was not keen on engaging in small talk, which he could hardly bla her for since she was trying to learn a spell, Damion decided to lay on the bed next to her and just enjoy her presence. Soon the site would be ready and construction on the city itself would start. After that his family would move to the new city and he would not need to be worried about exposing his family’s location to nobles.

While Damion was fantasizing about life once the school and city were built, he realized that neither had a na. He and Mage Teft were building a new city and school and had neglected to ever even talk about naming them. Should he na them? Should Teft? Or maybe his father already had. If he had, Damion would not want to disappoint him by changing the na.

“What is it?” Elicia asked when she noticed Damion scrunching his brow.

“I realized we have not decided on a na for the magic school or for the city. We can’t very well just keep calling it the new school or the new city.”

“I’m sure no one will object if you decide to na it.”

“What if dad has already started calling it sothing? I don’t want to take that away from him. I an, he has designed the entire place, if that doesn’t deserve naming rights I don’t know what does.”

“Then go ask him and stop pestering .”

Not wanting to annoy the pregnant future mother of his child further, Damion sprang out of bed and headed back to his father’s study. There he found Mage Thresbane and Caleb happily discussing the layout of the city. While Damion had not morized the layout of the city while looking at it earlier, he could tell just with a glance that so serious changes had been made.

For one, the magic school now sat on an island in the middle of a large lake at the center of the city. The lake was fed by five rivers that now divided the city up into different sections. Each river t the lake at the corresponding point of one of the five towers of the school.

On the outer bank of the lake was a zone of parks and a main road that led all the way around the lake, crossing the rivers with bridges. There were three other bridges built over each of the rivers, further upstream, each with a major road circling around through the city, connecting them all. The road and bridge furthest from the lake served as the outer periter of the city and while his father had not built walls, like there were around Saung and most other cities, there was a ring of automated farms slatted to circle the city.

“I see you’ve already made so changes,” Damion remarked.

“Oh yes,” Caleb replied. “Mage Thresbane has been most helpful. It was always a problem in my mind which part of the city to start on first. But he had the idea to divide the city up into self-sufficient sectors.”

“Starting off, there won’t be a need for such a large city, so we can build one section first and then continue to build the rest as the city population grows,” Mage Thresbane explained.

“Makes sense,” Damion told them. “Have you given any thought to a na for the school or city, dad?”

“Nas? No, of course not. I’m a designer, not a nar. I’ve designed the city and school you requested. Naming things is always the providence of custor. In this case you.”

“Oh. Well, I guess we can’t go too much longer without naming it, or we’ll just end up with it called City or School.”

“I agree. Do you have any thoughts on nas?” Mage Thresbane asked.

“Seeing the island for the school has given so,” Damion said.

He had been pondering nas of magical places from Earth mythology for the last few minutes. Part of him was tempted to na his school after contemporary magic schools in Earth literature and movies, but he decided that since no one but him would get the reference, he could do a little better. In the end he decided to pull two nas of legendary places of magic and mystery from Earth. He would still be the only one to fully understand the references, but that was fine, at least this way when he thought of the nas as they related to Earth he would not face palm in the future.

“Alright, well out with it,” Caleb said.

“For the city, I think we should na it Atlantis. And for the school, Avalon Magic Academy.”
