’Whiz--’
Gu Tong drove the car at high speed on the road, her face expressionless, as if all emotions had evaporated.
There were also few cars along the way, and Gu Tong raced down the avenue, speeding as if she were on a mission.
However...
Just then, the speeding car suddenly began to slow down.
’Screech--’
The car stopped abruptly by the bridge, without any warning, just like that.
"Damn, crazy!" The car behind her almost rear-ended her, and its driver cursed as he shouted at Gu Tong’s car window: "Damn! Don’t know how to drive? Go ho and learn, what’s with this reckless and blind driving, really unlucky!"
He cursed angrily, looking visibly furious. Seeing no reaction from Gu Tong’s car, he thought perhaps she was a novice driver who had been frightened. Since there was no collision, he glanced again at his beloved car to ensure it was undamaged, glared at Gu Tong’s car one last ti, and drove away in anger.
Gu Tong closed her eyes and leaned back against the seat, as if she were oblivious to all external sounds. She tightly gripped the steering wheel until finally, after so ti, she let out a sigh.
Scenes from the past flashed through her mind like an automated slideshow; these were the sins of her mistakes.
Actually, when Xia Xi ca to talk to her about all this...
Gu Tong felt sowhat resentful, thinking Xia Xi had too much free ti and often did peculiar things. She even thought her mory had no issues.
Little did she know, everything was an accident, all replaced by soone else.
Yet...
She could accept her past, but couldn’t accept her own evasion!
Denying past foolishness is no different from not acknowledging one’s mistakes.
Gu Tong had never been one to erase her own errors! She never believed humans were perfect, always doing the right thing!
She had once caused the Gu Family’s destruction and misunderstanding Li Yan, denying her feelings; all this was real.
Because the pain was so profound, she wanted to do everything she could to make ands. This was her truest self.
She was willing to spend a lifeti repaying but was unwilling to deny the mistakes she made!
This was Gu Tong.
Authentic, honest, daring to take on everything!
Yet, because she was so willing to take everything on, she didn’t want to believe Xia Xi’s words.
"You saying this is not right! You have such a dominant, arrogant character! No one can change it, even when faced with the toughest issues, you won’t lose your integrity! I understand this about you!
So, if you encounter sothing that doesn’t suit your character, you can speak up! Surely it’s your mory at fault; of course, I know, for soone whose mory is utterly intact, believing this would be very hard..."
Here it cos again!
Xia Xi’s words echoed once more in her mind, relentless and unshakeable.
For so reason, Xia Xi’s words caused Gu Tong’s thoughts to shift slightly, and she began to doubt her own words!
She propped herself up on the steering wheel, covering her ears with her hands, but even like this, Xia Xi’s words relentlessly swept in, ceaselessly...
"Damn it!"
Gu Tong punched the steering wheel, hitting the horn squarely.
’Honk honk honk--’
The car horn blared wildly, its chaotic sounds seemingly awakening her rational mind.
Dominant, arrogant, integrity...
Her character!
Gu Tong gritted her teeth hard, forcibly suppressing these thoughts.
How could this be?
This wasn’t her character!
She pulled herself together, once again shifted gears, and slamd the gas pedal to the floor!
Don’t dwell on things that can’t be figured out.
Why ruin your trust in yourself over one uncertain issue!
Such thoughts echoed in Gu Tong’s heart, yet even so, her expression remained grim, her face without any trace of calm.
