Lian Manman really wants to tell Lian Yeye that she’s already done quite well. Lian Yeye, is actually still just a little girl; she hasn’t even celebrated her thirteenth birthday yet. At her age, she should be living worry-free under the wings of her parents and family, with the so-called serious troubles being nothing more than a spat with friends or her New Year’s dress not being as pretty as the neighbor’s kids.
Regardless, she shouldn’t be standing here, using her small fra to face the pressure of the big family, trying hard to support her family of three.
"The child of a poor family grows up early"—this poverty isn’t rely the narrow material poverty.
"We have to move away, that’s the only demand. If you don’t agree, I’ll keep chopping and let our family of three stay in this room and freeze to death overnight. Or, soone can co and kill with the axe." Lian Yeye straightened her small body even more, shouting loudly, almost to the point of yelling.
"Include my dad and mom, either we move or you can kill !"
At this point, the thought that Old Master Lian had of having Lian Shouli and Lady Zhao step in to persuade Lian Yeye was extinguished.
Lian Yeye was prepared to risk her life, even if Lian Shouli and Lady Zhao disagreed with moving, Lian Yeye would risk her life.
"Yeye..." Lady Zhao started to cry softly.
Lian Shouli’s face was blank, unsure of what he was thinking. Old Master Lian’s face was grim, at a loss.
In this courtyard, most of them were adults; if they went to snatch the axe from Lian Yeye, they probably could succeed. But no one moved.
Lian Yeye was too fierce today. In the Lian Family, a child accidentally breaking a bowl was a huge cri, yet Lian Yeye dared to dig up the kang and chop the windows. Among those present, who else would dare to do such a thing? It’s not only in the Lian Family; all tenant farrs treasured their belongings. Doing such a thing ant being truly willing to risk everything.
Moreover, Lian Manman’s words had been spoken earlier: if anyone really went to grab the axe and during that ti Lian Yeye in a frenzy hurt soone, it would probably be futile; but if Lian Yeye herself ca to harm, that would be a major issue.
Lian Manman stood there, her gaze swept over the faces of the Lian Family mbers one by one. The human heart is quite complex. Even the kindest person might have a trace of ill will appear in their mind. And even the most evil person might have a mont when a good thought flashes through.
So, when facing a little girl who’s willing to risk her life, with a humble, inherently reasonable request, what might the Lian Family mbers think?
Respect? Compassion? Anger? Mixed emotions? Indifference?... Contempt? Ridicule? Malicious joy?!
Lian Manman’s gaze finally rested on Lady Gu and Lian Duoduo. The mother and daughter were standing in the least conspicuous corner, perhaps not expecting anyone to notice them at this mont, so their expressions were without disguise.
Lian Manman’s gaze beca deep.
Lady Gu then turned her head, directly eting Lian Manman’s gaze. Lady Gu seed startled, swiftly adjusting her expression while one hand pressed against her chest.
Lian Manman quietly snorted, withdrew her gaze.
"...The spoiled brat, Old Three, look what you’ve made the child beco? Can’t you say sothing? Just say sothing, if she dares not listen to you, she might defy the heavens!" Lady Zhou leaned against the door fra, probably impatient, raised her eyebrows and loudly spoke.
Before Lian Shouli could speak, Lian Manman started crying.
"Yeye, Yeye, you can’t let anything happen to you." Lian Manman sobbed while speaking, "If anything happens to you, what will your dad and mom do? You’re their only child. The wife of He Laoliu wronged your dad and wanted to take your mom away. You were the only one who went to scratch her, to vent anger for your dad and mom. Your dad almost jumped into the icy pit; it was you and your mom who cried the hardest. It was you who brewed dicine for your dad in the late night and stayed up all night taking care of him..."
Lian Manman said while sneakily glancing at Lian Shouli and Lady Zhao.
Lady Zhao was already sobbing uncontrollably, muttering "Yeye, Yeye’s dad" repeatedly, while Lian Shouli stood there, his expression sowhat like he was sleepwalking.
"Ah..." Lian Yeye shouted, turned around, and again swung the axe toward the window in a frenzy.
"Yeye, stop chopping." Lian Shouli suddenly seed to awaken from a dream and spoke with a hoarse voice.
Lian Yeye’s movents abruptly halted. The axe was struck on the window but not pulled back; she turned her head to look at Lian Shouli and Lady Zhao.
Lian Shouli took Lady Zhao and moved away from Old Master Lian, step by step, to outside the West Wing Room window, beside Lian Yeye.
"Yeye, stop chopping. We’re moving, moving right away." Lian Shouli looked up at Lian Yeye and said.
Lian Yeye stood on a stool, much taller than Lian Shouli.
"Dad, are you serious? You’re not fooling , right?" Lian Yeye asked, sowhat in disbelief.
"Dad is serious. We’re moving, we’re moving right now." Lian Shouli said again, with a faint smile appearing on his otherwise wooden face.
Lian Yeye burst into tears, her hand loosened, and the axe fell with a clang onto the windowsill and then to the ground, nearly hitting Lian Yeye’s leg. Her legs gave way, and she fell from the stool. But she didn’t hit the ground, as she was caught by Lian Shouli.
Lian Shouli held the crying Lian Yeye in his arms, reached out a hand, and gently stroked Lian Yeye’s head.
