There was no demand for Lian Shouli to stay, nor were there any insults directed at him by na.
Old Master Lian stopped in his tracks and turned around to wave at Lady Chiang.
"Go, help your grandmother inside... haven’t you caused enough chaos!"
Lady Chiang agreed, turned back, and slowly helped Lady Zhou walk back inside. Even when everyone had reached the main gate, Lady Zhou’s cries and curses continued to echo from the Upper Room.
Outside the gates of the Lian Family Old Mansion stood a cart, a new family asset prepared by Lian Shouli this year. On the cart were the bedding and luggage of Lian Yeye’s family, tied tightly, along with three or four bundles, plus a large package neatly tied with Lian Shouli’s woodworking tools.
Apparently, Lian Yeye had already packed the belongings for the three of them before breaking the windows and digging out the kang, pushed them out of the courtyard gate.
Old Master Lian stood at the door with a sigh.
Lian Shouxin, along with Wu Lang, Lian Manman, and Xiao Qi, also bid farewell to Old Master Lian.
"Father, we’ll go with Third Uncle to help them settle in." Lian Shouxin told Old Master Lian.
"Okay, I won’t say anything more. I trust that you brothers have a good relationship." Old Master Lian nodded and said.
Lian Shouli pushed the cart, with Lady Zhao and Lian Yeye assisting on the sides, and Lian Shouxin and the others followed behind, heading towards the village entrance.
They encountered villagers on the way, and seeing them in this manner, inquired about it. Lian Shouli honestly replied that they were moving. Folks exchanged a few words but didn’t ask further.
After walking so distance, Lian Manman looked back and noticed that Old Master Lian was still standing at the door of the old mansion, not having gone inside.
"Grandfather seems a bit out of it today," Lian Manman whispered to Wu Lang, "Normally, he would have chatted at length with Father, asking him to look out for Third Uncle and such."
Even though they knew he didn’t need to say it, Lian Shouxin would wholeheartedly assist Lian Shouli’s family, but Old Master Lian would never omit even a single word. Today, his abruptness was very unusual.
"Too many words can seem insincere," Wu Lang whispered back, "Grandfather’s handling of Third Uncle’s situation is lukewarm, his heart must be uncertain. Yeye making such a fuss, what could he do but agree to Third Uncle moving out? Saying anything else would indeed be forcing Third Uncle’s family to their doom."
Indeed, the situation was laid out clearly, even Lady Zhou ended up only crying and cursing by herself, without insisting on keeping Lian Shouli.
Once out of the village entrance, Lian Shouxin first took Lian Shouli’s family back to his own ho.
"Have a drink, warm up, there’s no rush with the moving, we have plenty of people, it’ll be settled in no ti."
In the front hall, Lady Zhang, Lian Zhizhi, and Zhang Caiyun, having heard the news, had already prepared hot tea and snacks. Lian Yeye was insistently placed inside the kang by Lady Zhang, with hot tea and snacks piled up in front of her.
Clearly, Lady Zhang had heard from the servants about what happened at the old mansion and felt deep compassion for Lian Yeye.
With Lian Shouli’s family of three moving out, the matter of building a house could wait; the first issue to solve was their accommodation.
"Stay with us, I’ll have a room prepared for you in the side courtyard." Lady Zhang said, "You don’t have to worry about anything else, just move in."
Lian Shouli, Lady Zhao, and Lian Yeye discussed it briefly but did not agree.
"Let’s stick to the original plan, we’ll first stay at the old shop,... it’s also convenient for to do woodworking there." Lian Shouli said.
Lian Manman’s family, familiar with Lian Shouli’s deanor, didn’t insist after hearing his decision.
"The old shop would work, the new shop also has rooms in the back courtyard, and since the Pickled Vegetable Workshop is still running, that’s fine too. These places all have stoves and other necessary items. Third Uncle, Aunt, and Yeye, you can choose whichever you like." Lian Manman said.
Lian Shouli’s family of three discussed a bit more and decided on the Pickled Vegetable Workshop.

"Third Brother, don’t rush to work; take more ti to rest and recuperate. That’s the most important thing." Lian Shouxin advised Lian Shouli.
Lian Shouli nodded in agreent.
Moving out from the old mansion, although Lian Shouli seed weary, there was a newfound vigor about his deanor and appearance.
Seeing this change, Lian Manman felt happy for Lian Shouli, for Lady Zhao, and especially for Lian Yeye.
After eating a bit and resting enough, everyone headed to the yard of the Pickled Vegetable Workshop. Besides the items on Lian Yeye’s cart, Lady Zhang had soone accompany Lady Zhao back to the old mansion to gather more small items, and also brought so things from her own ho to help Lady Zhao organize the new place.
Lian Manman gave her new set of bedding to Lian Yeye, congratulating her on finally moving out of the old mansion, starting anew as an independent family.
With the new ho sorted out, Lian Shouli hurried to discuss with Lian Shouxin about finding a plot for building a house.
"Once spring cos and the ground thaws, I’ll focus on building the house first." Lian Shouli told Lian Shouxin.
Having planned for building a house for a long ti, the Lian Shouli family had their eyes on several sites, two of which were in the village, just on the back street, very close to the Lian Family Old Mansion. Another site was diagonally across from Manman’s Family’s new ho, separated by a dirt road.
Several families had already moved there.
If it were before, Lian Shouli would probably have chosen a site on the back street in the village, but now, after Lian Yeye ntioned wanting to live closer to Lian Manman, Lian Shouli agreed and chose the latter site.
