Lian Manman asked Yingzi so detailed questions, and Yingzi answered them one by one. As Manman inquired, she also discreetly scrutinized Yingzi. By the ti Yingzi finished speaking, Manman was internally convinced almost completely.

The second point was what Lian Manman was more concerned about.
Lady Gu wanted to maintain her position as the proper wife, while Yingzi aid to replace her. From yesterday’s conversation between the two, selling Yingzi alone did not seem enough to make Lady Gu capitulate. Lady Gu did not acknowledge it at the ti and hinted that if Yingzi was indeed sold, her experiences during these days must have been unbearable, making it impossible for her to beco anyone’s proper wife. Not to ntion the proper wife, even being taken in again by the Old Lian Family as a concubine for Lian Shouren would be in question.
It was Yingzi’s other remark that flustered Lady Gu.
Yingzi had another hold over Lady Gu, and this leverage greatly intimidated her.
If what Yingzi said was true, then Lady Gu’s private eting was ant to negotiate and keep Yingzi silent. And Yingzi, despite gaining the upper hand, agreed to et out of anxiety, hoping Lady Gu would not dwell on her experiences during these past few days.
"Yingzi, it’s not that I don’t believe what you said." Lian Manman thought for a mont and then spoke to Yingzi.
Her words obviously suggested she didn’t believe Yingzi, causing Yingzi to beco sowhat anxious.
"Manman, what I said is all true. If I lied even once, let the heavens strike down with lightning," Yingzi pledged without hesitation, "I just pushed her lightly, and she died. It wasn’t my fault..."
Lian Manman gestured to Yingzi, signaling her to stop speaking.
"Yingzi, your words make so sense, but one thing doesn’t seem clear: Why did Duoduo’s mother want to kill you? You two were contending, yet she might not necessarily lose to you." Manman said.
Honestly, Yingzi’s desire to beco the proper wife was extrely unrealistic.
"She wanted to silence , to shut up. She died not because I killed her, but as retribution." Yingzi said loudly.
The surrounding onlookers began to discuss it. Compared to the idea of silencing, the tenant farrs were more concerned with Yingzi’s latter statent about retribution. There’s no way around it; in those days, people deeply believed in such things.
"Do you know what it was she wanted to silence you about?" Manman asked, "Is there sothing we don’t know?"
"Manman, if I say it, will you guarantee I’ll be fine?" Yingzi seed to have cald down a bit and even tried to negotiate with Manman.
"If you speak the truth, she died of retribution, not by your hand, then of course you’ll be fine." Manman said calmly.
"You dare ask Manman to protect you? Do you deserve it?" Manman’s words were tactful, but Wu Lang was not pleased. He said coldly to Yingzi, "You admitted you pushed her, and she died on the spot. You are a murderer. Should we tie you up and take you to the Yan, afraid you’ll keep silent?"
Yingzi glanced at Manman, then at Wu Lang.
"I’ll speak, I’ll speak."
Everyone quieted down, eager to hear what Yingzi had to say.
"She wanted to kill because I have leverage over her," Yingzi said.
"You killed my mother, you repay my mother’s life," Lian Duoduo, who had been quietly watching, suddenly went wild, attacking Yingzi with punches and kicks, and even tried to bite her.
Wu Lang waved, and Han Zhong’s wife instantly brought people forward to pull Lian Duoduo aside and restrain her.
Lian Duoduo, restrained hand and foot, could not move and began to scream loudly.
"If you’re capable, keep screaming like that. I’ll take Yingzi elsewhere, or take you away. Whatever Yingzi has to say, she will say. Can you keep screaming nonstop?" Lian Manman calmly walked up to Lian Duoduo and whispered in her ear.
