Lian Huahua had been sick for a long ti and was further traumatized by Lady Gu’s death, so her passing did not co as a surprise to anyone. Moreover, Lian Huahua had mostly lived in the town and county, spending very little ti in Thirty Mile Camp. Since her marriage into the Song Family, she hadn’t returned to Thirty Mile Camp even once for a formal visit, so the locals’ impression of her was already very faint.

During the Qingming Festival for tomb sweeping, Old Master Lian sent Erlang to inform both Lian Shouxin’s family and Lian Shouli’s family to go together.
Early that morning, Lady Zhang, with Lian Zhizhi and Lian Manman, had already prepared the paper money, placing it in a basket for the servant, Xiao Fu, to carry. After the family finished breakfast and seeing the ti was right, Lian Shouxin left with Wu Lang, Xiao Qi, and Xiao Fu, who accompanied them to serve.
Lian Shouli’s house was not yet fully built; because everyone went to sweep the graves on Qingming Day, they simply stopped work for a day. After preparing their paper money, the Lian Shouli family headed to the old house after breakfast.
At the old household, Lady Zhou, along with Lady He and Lady Chiang, also prepared a basket of paper money. Old Master Lian, Lian Shouren, Lian Shouyi, Lian Jizu, Erlang, Si Lang, and Liulang were all dressed and ready.

Old Master Lian paused in his steps.
"Let’s take a break," Old Master Lian said.
The others stopped along with him. In the past, Old Master Lian would have hurried over, but now..., stopping here was to avoid running into Scholar Wang and his son.
