......************......**********

Lady Gu was so ashad by Lady Zhou’s scolding that she wanted to commit suicide by running into a pillar. Lian Huahua, Lian Duoduo, and Lady Chiang were all by her side, unable to just watch her crash into the pillar, so they all tried to stop her; they grabbed and embraced her, and the mothers cried together in a heap.

"Let die, what face do I have left to live..." Lady Gu continued to struggle, insisting on hitting herself against the pillar.

"Mother, don’t leave ," cried Lian Duoduo.

Lady Chiang and Lian Huahua also wept bitterly. Niuniu was still young and had never seen such a scene, and at this ti, she too began to cry aloud.

The room was in utter chaos, and even Old Master Lian’s eyebrows were furrowed tightly.

"You still have the face to seek death; did I scold you unjustly? Who are you trying to scare? All of you, move aside, let her die," said Lady Zhou, seemingly able to maintain her composure.

Upon hearing Lady Zhou say this, Lady Gu cried even louder.

"Father, mother, over the years, I dare not claim to have contributed, but I have suffered..."

"You talk about contributions and suffering, you have so nerve. Just look at what you’ve turned the children into; the Old Lian Family was simply unfortunate to have brought you into our ho," Lady Zhou spat contemptuously, "Ever since you ca into our ho, you carried yourself like a spoiled young lady, unwilling to serve and your father, and you even instigated my eldest son to move away to live in town. Out of our sight, you began your mischief. Now, you’re hoping we die sooner, trying to kill us off..."

Lady Gu knelt on the floor, and Lian Huahua, Lian Duoduo, and Lady Chiang also knelt down, with Lady Chiang continuously trying to comfort Niuniu, appearing very pitiful.

Old Master Lian puffed fiercely on his dry pipe, remaining silent the whole ti.

"Old Master, what do you think we should do about this?" Lady Zhou asked Old Master Lian.

"We’ll discuss it when the eldest and the second son co back."

Lady Gu and the others knelt on the ground for a long ti without a word from Old Master Lian or Lady Zhou, not daring to get up.

Finally, it was Old Master Lian, upon hearing Niuniu crying so hard she could barely catch her breath, whose heart softened, and he glanced at Lady Zhou.

"Everyone, go back. Stay quietly in your rooms. If you dare to cause any more trouble, I will have all of you kicked out of the Lian Family," Lady Zhou scolded.

Everyone bustled out, even Lady He who, although she had the marriage of Erlang on her mind, dared not speak at this ti.

...

Lian Huahua and Lian Duoduo helped Lady Gu return to the west room, followed by Lady Chiang who then shut the door behind them.

Lady Gu sat on the bed, and her crying slowly subsided.

"Mother, it’s my fault that I implicated you," Lian Huahua said, lowering her head.

"I advised you at the ti, seeing that your wedding day was near, to just endure it, but you wouldn’t listen to , and now..." Lady Gu sighed.

"It’s all Second Auntie’s fault," Lian Huahua bit her lip, "at this ti she had to co asking for money, saying she needed it for Erlang’s betrothal. What a talented man her Erlang is, picking a country girl who wouldn’t need much money, but instead, she insists on aiming high and wants to marry Wang Xiue from the town’s grocery store. She had the nerve to ask to cover one or two hundred taels of the betrothal gift..."

"Your father hasn’t been stingy with them; we’ll talk about everything after you’ve married, then we’ll see if there’s anything we can’t solve. But she just can’t wait, only good at ssing things up!" Lady Gu angrily said, then looked at Lady Chiang comforting Niuniu, and started to tear up again, "Your grandmother is angry, accusing of having ill intentions towards your uncle. I have been so wronged. If I really had ill intentions towards him, would I have married my own niece to him?"

"Mother, don’t take these words to heart; I know you an well by Jizu," Lady Chiang added from the side.

"Big brother didn’t do well in his studies, that’s his own fault, how can they bla it on mother," Lian Duoduo said indignantly.

Lian Huahua quickly reached out and pinched Lian Duoduo. Lady Chiang, feeling slightly uncomfortable upon hearing Lian Duoduo’s words, turned her face away as if she hadn’t heard.

"What’s wrong with grandmother? No matter what, my father is still a scholar, and she will have to rely on him in the future, won’t she?" Lian Huahua said.

"Just my bad luck. This scolding... was bound to co sooner or later," Lady Gu spoke slowly.

"Mother, why would you say that?"

...

In the West Wing Room, after hearing what Lian Manman had relayed about the events in the Upper Room, Lady Zhang just sat there, sighing.

"Mother, this matter really makes one angry. Neither grandfather nor grandmother said a word in favor of Huahua," Lian Zhizhi complained.

"Scolding your great-aunt is as good as scolding Huahua. She is a girl waiting to be married," Lady Zhang let out a sigh, "If they spoil her reputation or scold her too harshly, how will she marry off when the ti cos?"

Lian Manman nodded. Lady Zhang was clear on this point. She believed that whether it was Lady Zhou or Old Master Lian, both understood in their hearts that in another month, Lian Huahua would belong to the Song Family. If they punished Lian Huahua severely now and sothing happened, who would suffer the most?
