"Opening a shop should not be a problem." Sixth Master added.
This statent seed to be without context, but Lian Manman couldn’t hide her joy. Others might not get it, but Lian Manman certainly rembered the words spoken earlier. Sixth Master’s words showed that he was satisfied with Lian’s Roast Duck.
Mr. Loo knew why Lian Manman and the others were here today, so he stood up at the right mont, using the pretext of admiring an ancient painting, to lead Master Chu, Shen Jin, and Shen Qian away, with Xiao Qi accompanying them.
At this mont, only Sixth Master, Wu Lang, and the Lian siblings were left in the hall.
"Sixth Master." Lian Manman stood up, took out a prepared Docunt Contract from her sleeve, and gently placed it next to Sixth Master’s hand. "From now on, I hope Sixth Master will look after our shop."
Sixth Master glanced at Lian Manman, raised an eyebrow, then picked up the Docunt Contract. The contract was simple, and with one glance, Sixth Master understood. Lian Manman had given Sixth Master a twenty percent dry share of Lian’s Roast Duck Shop.
A twenty percent dry share, aning one-fifth. Without needing to do anything, Sixth Master could receive one-fifth of the shop’s profits every month.
"Who taught you this?" Sixth Master flicked the contract paper with his finger, then looked up at Lian Manman and asked, "Who said sothing to you?"
Lian Manman was montarily taken aback before understanding Sixth Master’s implication. Sixth Master suspected soone from the Shen Family had tried to fish for favors from her family, secretly sending ssages.
"Sixth Master, no, no one taught us anything, and no one hinted at anything. We are clear about how Sixth Master treats us, and the truly trustworthy people at your mansion can see that clearly. With Sixth Master around, who would dare to target us?" Lian Manman quickly explained with a smile, "Sixth Master, don’t get upset. Doing this is customary, speaking of business as business... Of course, Sixth Master doesn’t need this, but our gesture cannot be lacking, it is intended as a reward for your servants. In the future, we will inevitably trouble them, and Sixth Master also knows the saying, ’Army provisions move before the horses and soldiers.’"
"You are not businessn." Sixth Master stated word by word.
"Of course." Lian Manman was startled again, but quickly regained her composure. The phrase speaking of business as business only referred to this particular affair. Nowadays, any family with so wealth has both land and shops. Such major affairs, involving people like Sixth Master, would require any household to have the head personally handle it.
Sixth Master stood up from his chair, walked to the desk nearby, and slowly rolled up his sleeves.
"Prepare the brush, ink, paper, and inkstone." Sixth Master said calmly as he rolled his sleeves.
There was no one else nearby, only Wu Lang and Lian Manman, and Sixth Master’s tone didn’t sound as if he were commanding anyone.
Wu Lang and Lian Manman exchanged a glance, and Wu Lang stepped forward to lay the paper flat while Lian Manman prepared the ink. Sixth Master used the finest Hui ink, and as the ink was gradually ground, its fragrance lightly filled the room.
By the ti Lian Manman finished preparing the ink, Sixth Master had already selected a wolf brush from the pen rack. Standing at the desk, he focused for a mont, then dipped the brush heavily in ink and completed a stroke in one go.
The paper prominently displayed the words "Shunde Store," full of boldness and vitality.
After finishing the writing, Sixth Master did not imdiately put down the brush. He turned to look at Lian Manman. At that mont, Lian Manman was gazing at Sixth Master’s writing; it was her first ti witnessing it. Originally thinking that Sixth Master, trained in martial arts and entering the officialdom early, might be lacking in literary skills, Lian Manman realized she was wrong after seeing these characters.
Both Wu Lang and Shen Qian’s writing were not as solid as Sixth Master’s. Though Master Chu and Mr. Loo were talented scholars, excellent in calligraphy, even their writing lacked a bit of the muscle and vigor seen in Sixth Master’s.
Lian Manman was both surprised and admiring. The closer her interactions with Sixth Master, the more strengths she discovered in him. Lian Manman once again realized that Sixth Master was not rely a pretty face, nor were his achievents solely due to his family background.
Being so young yet achieving what he had, Sixth Master was naturally gifted. But beyond talent, Sixth Master must have exerted unimaginable effort.
Looking at the words "Shunde Store," Lian Manman felt even more admiration and appreciation for Sixth Master in her heart.
The lamp’s glow seed to cast a warm golden layer over Lian Manman’s face, making her expression softer, and her black eyes even brighter. It was this scene that Sixth Master saw when he turned to look.
Beautiful as jade, and a warm, lively jade at that.
"Sixth Master is truly a gifted genius!" Lian Manman couldn’t help but exclaim, this ti genuinely from the heart, almost blurting it out.
Seeing the joy and admiration reflected in Lian Manman’s eyes, Sixth Master was quite pleased. He slowly set down the brush, and when retracting his hand, nearly brushed against Lian Manman’s head.
Looking at Lian Manman’s hair bun, Sixth Master’s hand extended as if with its own will, gently reaching out.
Lian Manman was still studying Sixth Master’s writing, completely unaware. However, just as Sixth Master’s hand was about to touch Lian Manman’s hair bun, he finally ca to his senses.
It was right then that Wu Lang lifted his head, looking at Sixth Master with admiration.
Sixth Master retracted his hand, rolling down his sleeves once more.
"Sixth Master, is this plaque for us?" Wu Lang asked Sixth Master.
Lian Manman also lifted her head, her eyes bright as she looked at Sixth Master.
Sixth Master nodded.
Wu Lang and Lian Manman were filled with joy.
