For the first ti ever, Old Master Lian wanted to take dicine voluntarily in front of Lian Shouxin and Lian Manman, and for the first ti in front of everyone in the old house. Old Master Lian’s personality, in many ways, is just like a traditional farr. Especially in terms of seeing a doctor and taking dicine, he’d never call for a doctor or take dicine unless he absolutely had to.
All along, it was the family who arranged and even forced Old Master Lian to see a doctor and take dicine, and he always resisted. But now, he actually asked Lady Zhou to prepare dicine for him, so the conclusion everyone reached was crystal clear.
Old Master Lian’s health is failing, even he feels it. Although, earlier when Lian Shouxin and the others walked in, Old Master Lian said he was fine.
"Dad, how do you feel? I’ll send soone to call Doctor Li right away," Lian Shouxin hurriedly said.
"Getting old, I just can’t hold up like I used to," Old Master Lian sighed, "It’s nothing serious, just the old ailnt. We haven’t even passed the end of the first month yet, no need to trouble Doctor Li. The dicine we got last ti is still here, it suits my condition. I’ll just take that dicine."
Old Master Lian was clearly acknowledging that his old ailnt had flared up again.
"It’s just today, this incident, a rush of anger." Old Master Lian continued, "...the family... is worrying."
This sentence was undoubtedly hinting at the cause of his illness. The reason he got sick was because soone or sothing in the family was troubling him. There was no need to ask more about who or what.
Lian Shouyi, Lady He, and Si Lang remained silent.
"Dad, your health is no small matter, I’ll still send soone to get Doctor Li to check on you. Only then can I be at ease," Lian Shouxin insisted.
"No need, Old Fourth, listen to , I said no need. I understand my own illness... After I take the dicine and rest a bit, my heart will be at ease and I’ll be fine," Old Master Lian waved his hand.
Old Master Lian’s words clearly ant that as long as Lian Shouyi, Lady He, and Si Lang could be a bit more sensible and not irritate him, he’d get better. Otherwise, his condition would worsen.
"Your dad is just upset." Lady Zhou didn’t leave imdiately with the dicine packet, and when she heard what Old Master Lian said, she imdiately chid in, "Ti and again. Thinking he’s still young, when will you stop causing a fit of anger, until one day he chokes on it, who’ll feel happy then."
Saying this, Lady Zhou glanced at the three mbers of Lian Shouyi’s family.
"...Old Master’s health is most important, everything else should take a back seat. Everyone needs to be quiet and not make Old Master worry or get angry. Otherwise, there’ll be regrets when it’s too late to make ands," Lian Shouxin, after thinking about it, said seriously.
Lian Shouyi, Lady He, and Si Lang still didn’t speak up, but Lian Shouren and Lian Jizu quickly expressed their intentions to listen to Old Master Lian in everything and to take good care of him.
Old Master Lian sat on the brick bed and gently sighed in relief as Lady Zhou left with the dicine packet to prepare it.
"Old Fourth, about Si Lang’s matter, we can’t just let it go like this, right?" Lian Shouyi said.
"Fourth Uncle..." Si Lang also looked at Lian Shouxin.
"Listen to Old Master’s advice, first call everyone together and figure it out, then decide the next step," Lian Shouxin said after a mont of thought.
The room imdiately fell into silence.
Anyhow, the matter finally settled down for the ti being. Lian Shouxin stayed a while longer, chatted briefly with Old Master Lian, then stood up to say goodbye.
Lian Manman also pulled Lian Yeye off the brick bed.
"Dad, let’s head back," Lian Yeye called to Lian Shouli.
Lian Shouli had been in the room all along, but from start to finish, he didn’t express any opinion. Of course, no one in the room asked his thoughts either. Before Lian Shouxin arrived, he had played the role of peacemaker. But once Lian Shouxin ca, he was no longer needed. Even Old Master Lian and Lady Zhou, who had sent for him, never glanced at him again.
"Ah," Lian Shouli agreed, standing up, then slowly sat back down. "You go ahead, I’ll stay a bit longer."
"Third Brother, let’s go together, it just so happens we’re headed the sa way," Lian Shouxin called out to Lian Shouli.
"No need, you go first, I’ll just..." Lian Shouli said, instinctively glancing at Old Master Lian, then uncertainly added, "I’ll just have a word with our dad."
"Alright then," Lian Shouxin said, seeing Lian Shouli preferred to stay, and didn’t press further. "I still have things to do, so you keep Old Master company."
