Lady Zhou is quite the character; in this era, the common saying is she wouldn’t step out the main door nor the second gate. If she were in the ti of Manman’s previous life, people would call her a "hobody." Lady Zhou is deeply into staying at ho. Forget Wu Lang getting married, even if the Emperor himself descended from Heaven, she might not be persuaded to leave her bed.
However, perhaps because of Lian Shouxin, especially the good words and attitude from Wu Lang and Lian Manman, this ti, although Lady Zhou refused, she didn’t say anything harsh like she usually does.
Lian Manman secretly chuckled to herself; this was good. Even if she couldn’t make Lady Zhou happy, at least she could keep things smooth, get her to say fewer unpleasant things, and avoid spoiling Wu Lang’s happy occasion, which would be wonderful.
Since Lady Zhou wouldn’t attend, Lian Shouxin didn’t bother inviting Lian Shouren and Lian Jizu.
"Since your grandmother’s not going, you should stay ho and take good care of her," Lian Shouxin said to Lian Jizu and Lady Chiang.
Lian Jizu and Lady Chiang both nodded busily, promising to take good care of Lady Zhou.

She depended on others for her living, yet when her most promising grandson in that group was getting married, she, being the real grandmother, didn’t intend to give anything. But, rembering what she contributed to Lian Zhizhi’s wedding, it’s not surprising at all.
Rather than giving Wu Lang sothing disappointing, it’s better to give nothing at all.
"Grandma, co on. My brother’s getting married, why would you need to give anything? In this world, there’s no such reason, right?" Lian Manman said with a smile, "You don’t need to give anything; just when you’re free, burn incense and pray before the Bodhisattvas and Buddhas, say a few good words for my brother, that’ll be better than anything. You are a respected elder; your prayers are more effective than ours."
Lady Zhou is an intelligent person, especially with certain things, she’s even more shrewd than the average bright individual. Lian Manman’s words were all complints, but to her ears, they sounded a bit harsh, and after thinking about it, it didn’t feel quite right. But countering Lian Manman’s words left her speechless.
"What kind of respected person am I; you don’t have to say that." After a while, Lady Zhou finally said.
"Grandma, Manman’s right; you don’t need to give anything. In a happy event, just be happy yourself." Wu Lang also chid in.
Following this, Lian Shouxin chatted casually with Lady Zhou and Lian Jizu, reminded Lian Jizu to be diligent, and to take good care of the family, then the family prepared to leave.
"I know you all are busy; if it weren’t for bringing your niece’s milk, you wouldn’t have co back." Lady Zhou remarked, her tone tinged with sarcasm.
"Mother, you can say whatever you want; you’re my mother after all." Lian Shouxin replied helplessly. Lady Zhou’s temperant has beco increasingly unpredictable; if they sit for a long ti, she’ll get annoyed. If they sit for a short ti, she’ll still be unsatisfied. As for what’s considered long or short, it depends entirely on Lady Zhou’s mood.
With this said, everyone headed out.
"Old Fourth, let them leave first. You stay here for a while; I have a word to say to you." Seeing Lian Shouxin about to leave, Lady Zhou hurriedly said.
Lian Shouxin stopped.
"Old Fourth, co here, just us speaking, it won’t take much of your ti." Lady Zhou gestured to Lian Shouxin again.
Lady Zhou clearly wanted to speak to Lian Shouxin alone.
