Now reading: Chapter 218 - 113 Who Bought the Land2 from Reborn as a Landlord, a Romance novel by Weak Yan.

"We still need fifteen taels of silver," said Lady Zhang.

"Um, mother, that’s exactly why I ca back, to get the money. The twenty taels of silver that Master Shen Liu gave last ti haven’t been touched; they should fit perfectly with this amount," Lian Manman said.

"Right, right."

Lian Manman then took off her shoes to climb onto the kang, fetched the wooden box where she kept money from the cabinet she shared with Lian Zhizhi, took out the key from sowhere close to her body, unlocked the wooden box, and pulled out fifteen taels of silver. After thinking for a mont, she took a few more pieces of broken silver before relocking the wooden box and putting it back in its place.

Lady Zhang had already taken a large handkerchief and wrapped up the fifteen taels of silver to place in the basket, while the few pieces of broken silver were put by Lian Manman into her own purse.

"Let’s not tell anyone about us buying the land..." Lian Manman said to Lady Zhang and Lian Zhizhi, "Once everything is settled, then we can just tell my father."

Lady Zhang and Lian Zhizhi imdiately understood and nodded their heads.

"I’ll go with you too, and let your sister watch the house," said Lady Zhang quickly changing into a different shirt. Buying land was a serious matter, and Lady Zhang, not at ease, insisted on overseeing the process.

Thus, leaving Lian Zhizhi alone at ho, Lian Manman and Lady Zhang took the silver and left for Zhao Family Village. When they arrived, Lian Shouxin was asuring the land with Wu Yugui and Zhao Jin, using rulers to mark the boundaries of the property with several stones, while Wu Lang and Xiao Qi were also there to help.

After confirming the asurents with Zhao Jin’s land deed, finding no discrepancies, everyone then headed together towards the town to draft the contract for the land purchase, appointing Shopkeeper Wu as the middleman.

The person responsible for drafting the docunt was Mr. Jin from the Yue Lai Hotel.

"The deed of sale signaling the purchase of dry land by Zhao Jin, who wishes to move to the county town and is further unable to farm the land, now decides to sell his ancestral dry farming land situated at Zhao Family Village, east to thus and thus, west to thus and thus, south to thus and thus, north to thus and thus, totaling twenty-five mu... willingly makes an outright sale to..." Mr. Jin wrote this much and then looked up to ask for the buyer’s na.

Lian Manman, who had been standing beside the table, imdiately responded straightforwardly, "Lian Manman."

"Lian Manman? Young lady, is it you?" Mr. Jin was surprised.

Lian Manman nodded emphatically, "Yes, it’s ."

Woo Zhonglian, Shopkeeper Wu, Wu Yugui, and Mr. Jin all had very calm expressions on their faces. They had realized that this young lady from the Lian Family had an extraordinary status at ho, which was sowhat, no, quite unusual. However, so families do spoil their children, and anything is possible. As they were all experienced in worldly affairs and prudent individuals, they showed no surprise, regardless of their internal thoughts.

Wu Lang and Xiao Qi, who were standing with Lian Manman and heard her give her own na, didn’t think much of it. They were already accustod to the fact that all the money they earned was managed by Lian Manman. Whenever there was a need to spend money, Lian Manman would consult their opinions. Keeping the money with Lian Manman was very safe.

Lian Shouxin and Lady Zhang exchanged a glance, feeling sowhat abashed as a couple.

"In our family, it’s our girl who calls the shots," Lian Shouxin said with a smile.

"Yes, just write Manman’s na," Lady Zhang nodded as well.

Lian Shouxin and Lady Zhang were well aware that most of the money for the land purchase, although they contributed their efforts, mainly ca from the earnings of the children, especially Lian Manman. In their eyes, Lian Manman had changed a lot since her narrow escape from death, particularly in regards to money. Lian Manman tried every ans to earn money, and the earned money had to be kept by herself, not allowing others to touch it. The money box was hidden in the cabinet and locked, with the key always kept on her person.

At the sa ti, Lian Manman was not stingy with her own people; the various expenses at ho could be said to have co entirely from Lian Manman’s small treasury.

The couple sotis wondered how their little daughter could be like this and recalled the reasons: Lian Manman was eager to earn and hold onto money because she lacked a sense of security in her heart. She did not want to be sold again. She believed that having money ant she wouldn’t be sold.

Whenever they thought about this, the couple inevitably felt both sha and heartache. For this reason, they let Lian Manman take charge of the money and decisions at ho.

Now, Lian Manman had made it clear that she wanted her na on the land deed.

What could they do!

Having made their position clear, Mr. Jin continued writing without any hesitation.

"...willingly makes an outright sale to the tillage of Lian Manman. The transaction is settled with no arrears. Apart from the nominal silver for drawing the deed and the cost of als and drinks, for the dry land, the sum for the inherent value of the dry land is xxx, paid by the Lian surna through the public treasury, not involving any affairs of the Zhao surna. In case any kinsn of the Zhao surna dispute this, Zhao Jin alone shall bear the responsibility. For fear there is no evidence in the future, this deed of sale for dry land is established to serve as perpetual proof."

"Executed on the day of xx in year xx. Seller of the actual dry land Zhao Jin, along with cousin xx and; relative xx; in good relationship with Wu xx...; scribe Mr. Jin xx."

Lian Manman brought out the eighty taels of silver she had stored at the hotel’s cashier, as well as the fifteen taels of silver she had brought from ho. Everyone checked the quality and weight of the silver, finding it all to be premium and full asure, naturally leaving everyone thoroughly satisfied. The seller, Zhao Jin, in the company of two fellow villagers he had brought, Shopkeeper Wu, and Mr. Jin all signed or stamped beside their respective nas. Thus, the contract for sale of the land was finalized.

Lian Manman, seeing her na on the docunt, couldn’t help but smile, her eyes curving up with joy. From now on, she would have twenty-five mu of land in her na. Even if this didn’t quite qualify her as a little landlord, at least she could be considered to have a modest property. She no longer had to worry about being sold or going hungry.

"Now that the White Deed has been executed, do we need to exchange it for a Red Deed?"
