Following Lian Shouren’s voice, Lian Jizu, Lady Gu, Lady Chiang, Lian Huahua, and Lian Duoduo also erged from the house. Lady Gu, Lady Chiang, and Lian Duoduo were all dressed up in more than just their everyday outfits, clearly having taken great care with their appearance. Lian Huahua’s attire was even more exquisite, not only was her face lightly made up with a graceful arc to her brows, but she was also adorned with hair accessories and wore a pink embroidered vest, truly appearing lovelier than the flowers themselves.
Lian Shouren, Lian Jizu, Lady Gu, and Lady Chiang stepped out the door with smiles on their faces, heading towards the main gate to welco the guests, while Lian Huahua paused at the doorway, coyly leaning against the doorfra, one hand resting on Lian Duoduo’s shoulder.
It was curious which visitor was arriving that made the Lian Family Main Wife’s household so cheerful and expectant.
As Lian Manman was pondering this, Lian Shouren and Lian Jizu had already surrounded the guest and walked in from the main entrance.
The visitor was a young nobleman, of average height, with a fair complexion, and dressed in a brocade robe embroidered with gold and silver threads, exceptionally resplendent. Even amidst the finery of Lian Shouren and the others, he still captured all the attention. He arrived at the center of the courtyard, his eyes lighting up when he saw Lian Huahua, and he quickened his pace.
Needless to say, this person must be Song Hailong. No wonder Lian Shouren and the others were so pleased, welcoming him as if he were a phoenix. Lian Manman deduced the identity of this young nobleman and couldn’t help but feel sowhat curious. There were only ten days left until Song Hailong and Lian Huahua’s wedding date. What was he doing here now? It seed like the Lian Family Main Wife had been expecting his visit.
Upon seeing Song Hailong approach, Lian Huahua glanced at him bashfully and greeted him with a delicate curtsey.
"Huahua..."
Song Hailong called out softly, hastening his steps, bypassing the others as if he wanted to go forward to support Lian Huahua.
However, after straightening herself, Lian Huahua twisted her waist and, supporting herself on Lian Duoduo’s shoulder, went back into the house.
"Hailong, haha, haha," Lian Shouren quickly followed, laughing, "That girl Huahua, she ntioned you countless tis when you weren’t here, and now that you’ve arrived, she becos shy and avoids you."
"My daughter has been taught the rules since she was little and has never deviated even slightly," said Lady Gu, shaking her head.
"It’s precisely such deanor from Huahua that earns my even greater respect," Song Hailong remarked while his gaze wandered and soon fell upon Lian Manman.
Lian Manman did not shy away, first because she was still young and often did not need to be reserved, and secondly, she was quite curious about Lian Huahua’s esteed suitor.
"Hailong, you’ve co from afar, let’s go inside and talk over so tea," Lian Shouren said as he ushered Song Hailong into the house.
"There’s no need for formalities, father-in-law,"
Song Hailong glanced again at Lian Manman and then, flanked by others, made his way to the Upper Room. Lian Shouyi, dressed in a brand-new robe, erged from the East Wing Room, bowed deeply, and hurried forward to greet Song Hailong before also entering the Upper Room.
Lian Manman thought for a mont before turning back to the West Wing Room.
"The Song Family’s Son-in-law has arrived?" Lady Zhang was startled upon hearing Lian Manman ntioning Song Hailong’s arrival.
"He brought several people with him and many gifts," Lian Manman recounted the scene she had witnessed.
"Then we should also go and et him," Lady Zhang said.
"Indeed," Lian Shouxin nodded.
Lady Zhang hurriedly searched for her clothes, intending to change and join Lian Shouxin in going to the Upper Room.
"They talk about our cousin-in-law every day, what does he look like?" Lian Zhizhi whispered as she pulled Lian Manman aside to inquire.
"His looks," Lian Manman touched her chin, thought for a mont and said, "are just average, I suppose."
"Ah?" Lian Zhizhi seed disappointed to hear Lian Manman’s assessnt, for according to the Main Wife’s family, this Song Hailong was outstanding in both talent and appearance.
"I think he’s average. It’s just that his clothes are impressive. Honestly, in terms of looks, he’s not even as good as Brother Jizu, only slightly better than Brother Erlang." Lian Manman explained.
"Oh," Lian Zhizhi nodded, "People rely on clothes."
"Exactly," Lian Manman agreed.
Song Hailong was undeniably handso, but Lian Manman had purposely described him as just average, not out of jealousy, but because the way Song Hailong had glanced at her earlier had made her sowhat displeased.
Song Hailong had captivating, peach blossom-shaped eyes. The way he looked at her was not as one would at a child but as at a woman. If he looked at a ten-year-old girl with such eyes, what about other girls?
Humph, Lian Manman snorted softly to herself.
"Get ready, let’s all go to the Upper Room to see," Lady Zhang called out to Lian Manman and the others.
