For more than 30 seconds, General Murphy froze as he stared at the young man in silence, then he threw his head back and burst into loud laughter.
"What the hell? So f*cking hilarious!" He slapped his leg in amusent, laughing hysterically.
"What a lad!" He wheezed in laughter. "I wish Sylvari heard that directly, just thinking of the expression that’ll be on his face is pure gold!"
"Boy, you have high codic talent!"
Leon didn’t react to the General’s laughter at all as he let him laugh.
He maintained an expression of pure stoicism on his face, coldly staring at the C Rank Ascended in a nonchalant manner.
General Murphy laughed so more but seeing the calm and nonchalant look on the man’s face, his face turned weird. "Wait, are you for real? That was not a joke?"
He rubbed his chin in thought. "Did you really create that trap? But you’re just an E Rank Ascended".
"I’m the greatest E Rank chanist alive". Leon said calmly.
Hearing that, General Murphy froze, then he chuckled and grinned. "Lad, you may just be more shaless than I am".
Leon didn’t answer as he calmly stared back at the General in a stoic manner.
Seeing him like this, General Murphy beca silent as he carefully scrutinized this man, then after a few seconds his face turned even weirder. "Sylvari already looked foolish enough that he fell for a trap created by D Rank Ascended".
"But if you’re really the one who set the trap, then the truth..." he chuckled. "Damn! Now I feel bad for him," he laughed. "He’s likely going to die from sha and embarrassnt when he learns the truth!"
General Murphy laughed hysterically till he wheezed again, but then, this C Rank Reality Sculptor’s glowing golden eyes suddenly turned sharp as he focused on the chanist.
Bzzz!
His dense ADE flared just slightly, yet Leon felt his whole being swell up with dread as his heartbeat instantly accelerated.
Despite his inner reactions though, in the face of this demigod, Leon maintained a nonchalant and unbothered look on his face like even a world-ending Apocalypse couldn’t faze him.
Instead of showing fear, Leon only tilted his head slightly as if asking ’What? You want to kill ? Go on, let’s see you try’.
General Murphy’s eyes narrowed as his face finally beca serious. "Young man, your outco will be worse than this man currently under if you’re bluffing with , choose your next words very carefully".
From the psychological profile that he had of the General, Leon knew that he was not bluffing and yet, he remained unfazed.
He stared the General in the eyes. "You watch your next actions carefully too".
"..."
General Murphy blinked.
Leon continued calmly as his eyes shifted towards the battered and injured Major Kai. "If you don’t step off him right now, I may just change my mind and decide not to take you to Ren Nora’s hideout again".
He grinned in a crazy manner. "Want to bet?"

"....."
General Murphy despite his centuries of experience as a C Rank Quantum Shaper and how good he was with words, he was dumbfounded and speechless.
Silence reigned for a few seconds as stunned, the C Rank Ascended just stared at the E Rank chanist incredulously.
It took a few seconds before he managed to regain his composure.
General Murphy rubbed his neck and chuckled, then he released Major Kai and stood up. "What an interesting lad".
Staring at the chanist, his eyes glinted with curiosity.
The mont the General released Major Kai, the Major fought through his pain as he strived to look at the chanist then he growled. "Leon, what are you doing? You’re breaking our agreent!"
"How dare you betray us after everything???"
Tears flowed down his eyes as he struggled amid blood flowing from all over his body. "How can you? How dare you...???"
Despite the current pain of the rebel Lieutenant, Leon could feel the palpable anger and hatred coming from the heavily injured NetRunner but he didn’t even look at him as he treated him like air.
General Murphy observed this interaction in an amused manner.
The exchange between the heavily injured NetRunner and the chanist intrigued him as he focused on the young man again.
His face was still weird. "Are you really the one who trapped Sylvari? How is that even possible?"
Leon looked at him coldly. "Do you want to et Ren Nora or not?"
General Murphy reacted with a chuckle. "Your ntal resilience in front of is comndable, and I can’t help but think," he scrutinized the chanist with a smile. "Are you that ambitious?"
Leon stared back at him calmly.
"Do you intend to lead to a trap?" General Murphy smirked. "Don’t tell you have a trap created for too, are you about to lead to that trap?"
The General rubbed his chin. "Can anybody actually trap in this world? I’m really curious. Now you’re making interested boy, take to this trap!" He demanded excitedly.
Instead of answering the General, Leon turned around to lead the way but the General teleported to his side the next mont with Phase Step before placing his right hand on his shoulder.
Knowing exactly what he intended to do, Leon coldly turned around and slapped the General’s hand off his shoulder!
Smack!
"..."
"....."
General Murphy blinked, staring at his hand in disbelief as the silence between them slowly changed, turning cold, sinister, and oppressive, then...
Bzzz!
Amid the silence, gold and white ADE slowly started revolving around the General’s body even as the smile on his face turned dangerous.
He smirked. "Boy, are you courting death?"
Standing just a few inches away from the General, Leon remained unfazed as he turned his head and looked the General in the eye in perhaps the most ballsy stare down in all of history.
He said coldly. "I approached you to take you to Ren Nora myself, and I’ll also decide how I take you there myself".
He tilted his head slightly as the look on his face turned even colder as he asked in a stern tone. "Did I give you permission to touch my shoulder and try to teleport ?"
"..." General Murphy opened his mouth to talk, but then he closed it back.
Standing at such close proximity to the chanist, General Murphy felt like he was being talked down on by an Ant. He was speechless.
His chanical lips twitched, then he asked in an amused tone. "I admit, you do intrigue , but what makes you think I won’t just kill you and continue torturing him to find Ren Nora on my own terms?"
"What gives you to guts to talk to in such a manner?"
Still unfazed, Leon looked him in the eye and answered. "First, I’m not afraid of death. I don’t care if you kill ".
General Murphy’s lips twitched.
Leon continued. "Second, it’s because you already annoyed the Director-Pri enough tonight, you’ve played around and had your fun while he wanted you to be direct. You wouldn’t really want to be on his bad side, would you?"
"Afterall, you’re his subordinate". Leon stressed the ’subordinate part’.
General Murphy’s eyes instantly took on a more dangerous hue. "Boy, if I was you, I would watch my tongue".
"I don’t know if you’re intelligent or just stupid".
"Maybe I’m both". Leon responded calmly, then he turned around, ignored the threat of the C Rank Reality Sculptor and started walking, leaving his back fully exposed in a complete disregard of the General’s power.
General Murphy silently stared at the chanist’s back as his lips twitched furiously. His hands twitched, hovering between action and patience.
In the end, he exhaled and shrugged before following the E Rank chanist. ’Let see what you’re up to’. He thought darkly. ’I can always kill you later’.
Walking ahead of the General, Leon maintained a nonchalant look on his face and his strides were calm and normal but inside, he was on fire.
BADUMP! BADUMP!
His heartbeat pounded heavily like drums of war.
This was by far the greatest gamble that Leon had ever made in any situation since awakening in this world and since losing his mories.
This was his craziest gamble!
