Luo Wensheng furrowed his brow as soon as he heard these words, “Uncle, you know what I’m capable of. If you think I can help, just say it, and let me hear it too.”
Zeng Baoliang glanced at his son sitting beside him and cleared his throat lightly, “Well, Ruiping is not young anymore and wants to find a job in the city. Could you see if your brother-in-law could help out?”
Luo Wensheng looked at his uncle, “Uncle, why don’t you talk to my brother-in-law yourself?”
Zeng Baoliang explained, “I’m not well acquainted with your brother-in-law, and there were some misunderstandings with your sister before. I’m afraid they won’t agree if we ask.”
Luo Wensheng sighed lightly, “Uncle, how about this, I’ll bring my brother-in-law in, and you can speak to him directly. Does that sound good?”
Zeng Baoliang felt a bit embarrassed, “Alright then.”
It wasn’t long before Luo Wensheng found Qin Haifeng, who was busy outside, and explained the situation to him.
When Qin Haifeng came in, he didn’t beat around the bush, “A formal job, I really don’t have the capability, but I can ask around for temp work. As for whether you can do well in the future, that’s up to you.”
Zeng Baoliang listened and said, “That’s fine, we didn’t expect to get a permanent job right away, any job is better than farming at home.”
Qin Haifeng responded, “Alright, the New Year is ing too. I’ll inquire about it before then. Have him e over again before the 7th day after New Year, and I’ll have a definite answer for you by then.”
Zeng Baoliang nodded repeatedly, “Okay, okay, then we will leave it to you, and we’ll e over again after the 7th.”
After Qin Haifeng finished speaking, he turned around and went back outside as he was still busy.
Having settled the matter, Zeng Baoliang felt relieved. Seeing quite a few people ing to help in the yard, he told his son and daughter, “Go help in the yard, don’t let others mock us.”
The son, hearing there would be news by the 7th day, all smiles, made no objection to his father’s words and got ready to head outside.
The daughter, however, turned to her father, “Dad, why don’t you ask cousin-in-law to find me a job too?”
“You are of marriageable age soon, why would you want to work outside? Who will do the household chores if you leave?”
“Nowadays, late marriages and childbearing are encouraged. I’m only eighteen this year, why can’t I find a job too?”
“Stop causing a scene. Obey and don’t embarrass us.”
Zeng Ruili, feeling her father was being unfair, stood up in a huff, “I don’t care, after the New Year I’m going to the city to work too.”
After saying that, she walked out, preparing to make a good impression which might help her cousin-in-law find her a job as well.
In the afternoon, Luo Qiao went with Big Brother, Sister-in-law, Second Brother, and her little cousin to the department store. They bought quite a lot of colored paper, asked the auntie next door, and found an aunt from the neighborhood to help cut some decorative streamers.
They decorated the bridal chamber and it became much more festive. Finally, Luo Qiao took out the balloons bought from the department store and had everyone help spell out a heart on the wall with a big “Double Happiness” character in the center. Perfect!
After dinner, having seen off the neighbors who had e to help, they started discussing tomorrow’s wedding procession. Luo Qiao said, “Uncle, I’ve arranged for two cars for the bridal procession tomorrow, a sedan and a truck.”
Luo Wensheng, gratefully, said, “Thank you, Qiaoqiao. Uncle really… Ah, never mind, anyway, thank you all.”
Luo Qiao smiled, “Uncle, we may live far apart and don’t see each other often, but remember to let us know if there’s anything. We’re family after all.”
Luo Wensheng, moved, had tears in his eyes, “I know, thank you.”
Luo Wenxiu walked over and patted her brother, “Once you’re married, you are an adult. From now on live well. We all hope that you have a good and beautiful life.”
Meanwhile, in Capital City, a large group boarded the train enthusiastically. The Luo Family’s Third Wife’s people, even Siyan who was in the military, had taken leave. Except for Xiao Ya and Jiang Youyou, the sisters-in-law who didn’t e because their children were too young to leave behind, even Geng Yanqiu, who was pregnant, boarded the train. Zhou Xiaomin had sent her two kids back to her mother’s house. Now that the kids were older and under her mother’s care, she was quite relieved.
