After school, Luo Qiao followed the others towards the dorms. She needed to drop her books off first since there was a class meeting that evening, and she had planned to eat dinner in the campus cafeteria.
They had agreed at lunchtime to have their midday meals in the school cafeteria and to eat at home only in the mornings and evenings.
Lu Yichen had suggested bringing Auntie Li over to cook for them, but Luo Qiao hadn’t agreed, considering that someone was needed to take care of things back home.
In the end, they had Lu Yichen help her find someone else, especially since the double-entry courtyard needed upkeep. Previously, it was Xu Yuqing and her brother, but now, besides school, they also had tasks from Luo Qiao; they had a lot on their plate.

Wu Hongyan, seeing everyone refute her, was quite angry. She actually liked Luo Qiao’s curtain but didn’t have the means to get one for herself. She feared everyone in the dorm would follow suit and then what would she do?
Just then, someone from another dorm came looking for somebody and saw Luo Qiao’s curtain on her bed. They went over and looked for a while, “This curtain is great, like having your own private space. I’ll get one too.”
Mao Jiangping also liked that curtain, but she glanced at Wu Hongyan frowning and didn’t dare to speak up, not wanting to upset her.
Luo Qiao put away her books in the cabinet and thought about making a small bookshelf next to her bed to avoid the hassle of searching for books. Her bunkmate was Shen Juan, and Luo Qiao asked, “Shen Juan, I’m thinking of making a narrow bookshelf to hold our books, right beside our beds. You don’t mind, do you?”
Shen Juan poked her head down from the upper bunk, “Of course not, it won’t affect me, and that spot is empty anyway. I might even benefit from it.”
Luo Qiao thought for a moment, “Then I’ll have them make it a bit taller and open the top towards the side, so you can put stuff in there too.”
Shen Juan replied excitedly, “Really? That’s so kind of you. But for the wood on top, I’ll pay for it. I can’t just take advantage of you like that.”
