Even after getting home, Luo Qiao was still thinking about Professor Guo’s words. Lu Yichen noticed that something was off with her, but since she seemed unwilling to talk, he tactfully refrained from asking too many questions.
However, the next day at work, he went ahead and called Yang Jiancheng, “Master, this is Yichen.”
“Yichen, are you calling about Luo Qiao’s matter?”

“Professor Guo has a project, and the school wants her to join, but the project is quite demanding, and the superiors require results before the end of the year. Hence, she can only rest one day a month. She’s hesitant because she’s worried about not seeing the children for an extended period,” explained Yang Jiancheng.
Lu Yichen now understood, “Master, thank you for telling me this. I respect her decision.”
To tell the truth, he was somewhat reluctant for Luo Qiao to join the project—he didn’t want to be away from her for so long. However, he respected her choice, especially considering that the research project required someone with her talents.
In the following days, Luo Qiao returned home early to spend time with the children, and both Rong Daniang and Elder Rong noticed her unusual behavior.
That evening at dinner, Luo Qiao finally spoke up, “I have something to tell everyone. I’ve received my master’s degree certificate, and from this term, I am starting my Ph.D.”
Rong Daniang smiled and said, “That’s wonderful, Qiaoqiao is truly impressive. Tomorrow I’ll prepare some good dishes to celebrate; this is a big deal.”
Luo Qiao chuckled, then scratched her head before continuing, “There’s a project that the leadership at the research institute wants me to join. The thing is, I can only e back once a month. After thinking for a few days, I’ve decided to join.”
Lu Yichen reached under the table to hold Luo Qiao’s hand, “You’ve finally said it. Although I also don’t really like the idea of not seeing you for so long, haven’t I always said that I will support whatever you decide?”
Luo Qiao replied with a smile, “But this means I won’t be able to e home to acpany Yanyan and Yueyue every day.”
Lu Yichen responded, “That’s okay. I will talk about you with them every day; they won’t forget you, and you can still e back one day every month, right?”
Once the decision was made, Luo Qiao informed them. She had to start on the project the next day—it was urgent. Nevertheless, Luo Qiao made it clear that she had to attend the uping wedding of her younger cousin on the sixteenth.
She even cheekily told Professor Guo that the wedding day couldn’t be counted as her one day off for the month. Knowing that her twin daughters were not even a year old yet, Professor Guo agreed with a laugh.
That night, after the two of them returned to their room and settled the little ones, they talked for a long time, talking turned to burning passion, and then a storm of lovemaking ensued…

Eventually, Geng Yanqiu moved out of the big courtyard.
Today was Luo Siyuan’s day off, and as he was leaving a friend’s house, intending to visit his grandparents, he spotted Geng Yanqiu carrying many bags. Without saying much, he took them off her hands and asked, “What are you doing here?”
“What a coincidence, I’m moving out.”
“Why didn’t you ask someone to help you?”
“I didn’t have much stuff, and this was the only trip. The car dropped me off at the end of the alley; it’s hard for cars to turn around here, so I didn’t let it e in.”
“Then why didn’t the driver help you bring your things in? Why subject yourself to such hardship?”
“He has to go back to take people to the hospital; I didn’t want to delay him for too long, in case he’d get scolded for going back late.”
Indeed, their cousin Geng Yanrong had attempted suicide in the detention center and was released on medical parole yesterday. That very morning, his great aunt had started making soup, so he couldn’t let the driver get scolded for being late because of him.
Luo Siyuan helped Geng Yanqiu bring in her belongings. Seeing that the courtyard had not been tidied, he started cleaning it up spontaneously. He worked through to noon, after which they quickly made some noodles. Once they finished eating, they continued tidying up.
It wasn’t until after five in the afternoon that they finished straightening up the courtyard. Geng Yanqiu wanted to treat him to a meal outside, but Luo Siyuan declined, telling her to stay in and rest while he went out and brought back some dishes.
He then said, “I won’t join you for dinner. I told my grandma that I would e back, so I’ll get going.”
The truth was, he was covered in dust, which was irritating him badly, so he quickly freshened up a bit before heading out.
Before leaving, he didn’t forget to instruct, “Make sure to lock the courtyard door. Have your meal first; don’t let it get cold.”
Geng Yanqiu responded softly, “Got it. You worked hard today.”
Luo Siyuan casually threw out the trash at the entrance and said, “Don’t mention it. Lock the door, I’m off.”
Geng Yanqiu watched the receding figure with a warm feeling in her heart.
Time flew swiftly, and soon it was the day before Lu Yiting’s wedding. After finishing her experiments and submitting the data, Luo Qiao packed up her things to leave. The day before, Lu Yichen had called to say that Big Brother and his wife would stop by to pick up Rong Daniang, Elder Rong, and the two kids on their way.
