According to information Yaeger learned after returning to the city, Nectar had been waiting in the comrcial district for a long ti. They t each other but didn't speak, and crossed paths.
Yet, before long, they t up in an alley. Then, they reached a place near the hotel using a hidden underground passage.
"You're here." The mont Yaeger approached the room, she heard Alicia's alluring voice.
Squeak!
The door opened automatically and a pleasant aroma assaulted her senses.
Yaeger went inside while Nectar waited outside.
"Alicia, just lie down." Yaeger imdiately spoke after seeing the beauty on the bed trying to rise up.
Hearing that, Alicia laid down obediently. "Then please excuse my rudeness."
"I'm here today to tell you good news and bad news. I'm sure you already know the good news, right? That's right. I reached Platinum rank ahead of schedule."
Yaeger sat on the bed without hesitation, tidying up Alicia's bed sheets with her hands.
She looked worse when compared to two days prior. Unique black patterns had appeared on her pale white skin. This was the sign that the curse was about to activate. Her ti was running out.
"Thank you." Alicia smiled softly. "You really surprise every ti."
As she spoke, she took her hands out of the quilt and gently placed it on Yaeger's back, it was chilly.
"Next, will we enter the underground maze just like we originally planned?" Yaeger asked.
"Yes. I'll do it earlier. It takes ti to open the maze. If there are no accidents, it will open tonight. However, you can't enter the newly opened maze because it's filled with harmful gasses. It'll take so ti for it to dissipate."
Alicia said.
"Yes." Yaeger nodded. It seed like their plan of descending into the maze wasn't expedited due to her increase in level.
After so thought, she knew that was normal. Places like these that were sealed away for many years would require so preparation before they were safe to enter.
"By the way, Alicia, how long will the trial take?"
“One day. Even if you fail the maze trials, you can only remain inside for one day at most." Alicia said softly.
‘That's a bit long. I'll have to pay attention to my fatigue.'
Yaeger had no intentions of being booted out of the ga at the final mont by Sister System, and essentially had her plans ruined.
Of course, the ti-limit might be one day, but that didn't an that she would only succeed after staying for an entire day.
“So, what's the bad news?” Alicia asked.
Yaeger mulled it over and spoke after gathering her thoughts. "Soone spreading a plague by the docks."
Hearing those words, Alicia's pupils shrank to the size of pinholes. "What's actually happening there?"
"Here's what happened…" Yaeger explained the sequence of events in detail.
The more she listened, the worse Alicia's expression beca. Just as Yaeger had predicted, this ordeal was ticulously organized and planned. There was a deep dark shadow behind it.
"Causing artificial disasters. These people really…" Alicia mumbled to herself. Suddenly opening her eyes, she ca to an epiphany. "I see, I see. I know what they're aiming for!"
"You do?" Yaeger was surprised. As a transmigrator, she knew the dungeon, [Rise of The Undead], would spread massive catastrophes all across the continent. Yet, she had no clue about the implications on a deeper level.
“How much do you know about history?” Alicia asked.
After so thought, Yeager shook her head. "Not that much."
In a past life, she had been grinding the ga for progress. She had no ti to learn about the history of this world.
The knowledge she knew were practically things that she learned from a reading quest introductions.
"In this world, there are six recorded eras. Black Iron, Bronze, Platinum, Jade, Black Crystal, and Diamond. Black Iron, Bronze, and Platinum were collectively known as the Barbaric Era. Jade, Black Crystal, and Diamond were collectively known as the Mythic Era.”
“Before these 2 great eras, there was undoubtedly another era that was glorious beyond equal. Which was the Archeozoic Era.”
“Most of the magical knowledge on the continent today was developed from Archeozoic Heritage. This is unrelated to the story we're talking about, so I won't ntion it. Back to topic. Have you ever seen God?" Alicia stared at Yaeger seriously.
The latter eventually shook her head after a mont of silence.
It was definitely wrong to say there was no God in this world. However, 99.9999% people would shake their heads if they were asked if they ever saw God.
This was an era where God didn't exist!
"According to historical records, God is present in the later stages of the Barbaric Era and the earlier stages of the Mythic Era. They lived in this world and their race is called the Eternal Race.”
“In addition, the Eternal Race's nesis, the Demon Race also exists in this world. During that era, the power of the divine was everything. Most humans were servants of Gods." At this point, Alicia paused slightly.
Yaeger's expression changed slightly. This was unquestionably the first ti for her to learn about these things.
"Do you know of the Power of Faith?" Alicia continued.
"I don't know." Yaeger replied truthfully.
“To be honest, I'm not very sure myself. Because I've never seen it." Alicia smiled naughtily. "It was said that the Power of Faith is energy that Gods collect from their believers. It can bring them lots of benefits."
"Gods themselves were existences powerful beyond equal. Why would they require faith?" This question was always on Yaeger's mind.
“I'm not sure about that either. But still, will anyone say no to more power? Assuming that there are two Gods with equal base strength, but one of them has the Power of Faith. Then, that one will be stronger and pose a threat to the other one. If they fight, the latter has a higher chance of dying."
"Gods can die too?" Yaeger asked in surprise.
Alicia nodded softly. "They can. Typically, gods are just living beings who are greater existences when compared to humans. They all have long lifespans and powerful strength.”
“But, they will die when they are killed, just like humans. Only those gods who have reached the pinnacle are the exception to that rule." Alicia paused at this mont and then spoke, "they can die. This is why they desire strength greatly.”
“Compared to improving themselves through cultivation, it's obviously faster for them to improve through the Power of Faith. So, Human Ranches ca into existence. When divine power was at its zenith, each God had countless believers.”
“They are called believers, but in fact, they are similar to the sheep and cows we keep around. Feed them and we'll get milk, at, and leather in return. That's right. At that ti, Gods were keeping humans as cattle.”
“Of course, the Demons were doing similar things. The difference was that they gathered power by causing fear and desperation. In the end, the Power of Faith is a kind of ntal power. Which is the sa as fear and desperation."
Alicia stared at Yeager after speaking.
The latter's expression changed rapidly. She seed to be working hard on digesting the information.
Soti later, Yaeger eventually said, "this is definitely hard to swallow."
"Hehe, what I said earlier was just my personal opinion. Don't mind it." Alicia smiled.
"I don't really mind." Despite that, Yaeger felt unease in her heart. She had a hunch that her rebirth had sothing to do with these Gods and Demons.
Perhaps, her rebirth was nothing but a prank they pulled on her.
After all, to Gods and Demons, humans were nothing but cattle and toys.
