Outside the lab, the two beautiful receptionists were still pressed against the stone entrance, eavesdropping intently.
“That shout was from Master Allie. She sounds pretty excited.”
“Is she at her limit?”
“I’m not sure, but she definitely sounds thrilled.”
The two glanced at each other, puzzled. So far, they hadn’t heard any strange sounds from inside.
“Ahh! So hot!” a panicked scream suddenly echoed from inside.
“It’s Black-hearted Princess!” The two instantly recognized her voice, their excitent rising.
“Master Allie’s the one in control this ti!”
“I never thought Black-hearted Princess would be on the receiving end!”
“Hehe, I bet Black-hearted Princess is getting a taste of so hot wax!”
“Mm-hmm!”
They pressed closer to the door, faces flushed, soft breaths escaping from slightly parted lips.
anwhile, inside the chamber, the scenes they imagined couldn’t have been further from reality.
“Allie, slow down! I’m about to be roasted alive!” Yaeger quickly released her aura, dousing the flas on her body.
“You told to use a dium-grade fireball,” Allie replied with an innocent look.
“But I didn’t realize your dium-grade fireball was so strong!”
Yaeger realized she had clearly underestimated Allie’s strength. Normally, a typical Magician’s dium-grade fireball barely scratched her. But Allie was far stronger—her fireball was not only painful but intensely hot.
“Would a Low-grade fireball be better?” Allie asked, extending her hand to conjure a small fla at her fingertip.
“Go ahead!” Yaeger spread her arms, striking a defenseless pose—because, in fact, she really was defenseless. This was the only way she could test the effectiveness of [Devouring Assimilation].
Bang!
Allie’s fireball shot out like a bullet, striking Yaeger directly.
“So hot, so hot!” Yaeger cried. But before the fireball could release its full damage potential, she deflected it with her aura.
“What are you doing?” Allie asked, running a hand through her silver hair in exasperation.
“Hold on a second!” Yaeger said quickly, noticing her skin was still searing from the fireball’s impact.
She quickly opened her interface to check her status. ‘Huh? I took two fireballs, so why hasn’t my fla resistance increased at all?' The numbers on her panel hadn’t budged, leaving Yaeger perplexed.
“Allie, one more ti.” She decided to give it another try.
“Low-grade again?”
“No, dium-grade.”
“You’re sure?”
“Absolutely,” Yaeger nodded.
Without hesitation, Allie cast a dium-grade fireball and launched it at Yaeger. Flas erupted, instantly engulfing Yaeger.
‘Endure it, endure it!' Gritting her teeth, she resisted the urge to disperse the flas.
With her ability to halve all magical attacks and her 50% resistance across attributes, these flas stood little chance of actually burning her skin. So, she wasn’t concerned about getting burned. And even if her skin were burned, her life energy would heal it instantly.
The flas from the fireball were intense but burned out quickly. In less than three seconds, the flas on Yaeger’s body had vanished completely.
Ding! [Devouring Assimilation] activated. Fire Attribute resistance increased by 0.1%.
The system notification chid in almost imdiately.
“Zero-point-one percent? You’ve got to be kidding ,” Yaeger muttered in disbelief at the notification. She had taken Allie’s dium-grade fireball head-on, yet her resistance increase was minuscule. It seed unbelievable.
“What zero-point-one percent?” Allie asked curiously.
“It’s nothing. Let’s keep going.” Yaeger shook her head, striking a defenseless pose once more.
Allie didn’t question further. She simply extended her hand and cast a High-grade fireball.
“Wait, Allie! There’s sothing off about that fireball!”
Outside the door, another adorable scream echoed.
“Master Allie is amazing when she’s on the offense!”
“Black-hearted Princess has such a cute scream; she’s so charming!”
“Ah, I really wish I could watch!”
“ too!”
The two receptionists sighed wistfully, pressing closer against the stone entrance to keep eavesdropping.
anwhile, the trading hall of the Imperial Auction House was busier than a bustling morning marketplace. As soon as players learned about the discount event, word spread like wildfire. Crowds flocked to the auction house, packing the interior and forming a long queue outside.
The NPCs had never seen anything like it—people were lined up from the entrance all the way down the street!
“Buy, buy, buy! Get everything!” Taurus, who had VIP discounts and privileges, waved his hand, ordering his subordinates to purchase everything in sight.
“So, this is how rich people shop? Disgusting!”
Those outside who overheard his voice gritted their teeth in frustration. Most of them were average players with limited funds, wishing they could stretch every last coin to buy more.
Discount events were rare at the auction house, so they’d all co to stock up on resources. But before they could even step inside, Taurus, the Prodigal Master of Huadu, was buying everything in sight.
“Let’s just go. We won’t get to buy anything anyway,” soone muttered hopelessly.
With that wealthy VIP inside, buying anything seed impossible.
“Yeah, let’s just leave.”
“Right, there’s no point in waiting!”
“Let’s go, everyone! Let’s just leave!”
Despite their words, only a few people actually left the line.
The reason was the pamphlet they held in their hands. It listed many materials, all available in large quantities. Even if they couldn’t get exactly what they wanted, they could still buy popular items to resell or trade with friends.
They didn’t believe even the biggest Guilds could buy out the entire stock.
Kastina watched the scene below from her office’s privacy glass, a faint smile crossing her face.
“Looks like I’ll be able to clear out the stock by today.”
These materials had initially been stockpiled because they could be exchanged for Kingdom Prestige. Yaeger had planned to sell small batches daily to keep players spending.
However, with Richard’s early return, she had to abandon her original plan and sell everything in one go. The consequences of flooding the market with so many materials? Not her problem.
“Now, let’s figure out where to source new materials for tonight’s restock.” Kastina stepped away from the window, settling back into her office chair. She glanced at the docunts on her desk, muttering to herself.
She still had one more day to rake in profits, and there was no way she’d let that chance slip by.
anwhile, in the Sage Tower lab…
“Stop!” Yaeger shouted.
Flas roared all around her, like an ocean of fire.
“No more testing?” Allie asked, lowering her hand.
“Yep!” Yaeger nodded, her face weary with exhaustion.
After being bombarded by fireballs for what felt like forever, her fla resistance had finally hit 1%. It felt like a scam!
“What a pity,” Allie said regretfully. Those rare monts when she could tease Yaeger guilt-free had ended too soon—she would miss them.
After they’d dressed and settled on the bed, Yaeger fell into deep thought. ‘Strange. Why did my Spatial Attribute resistance increase so quickly, but my Fla resistance is crawling? What’s the real issue here?'
