Inside the grand hall of the [City of Chaos], Yaeger and Vera 17 had taken their seats on an ornate, luxurious sofa. In front of them, Vera 18 gracefully bent at the waist and began pouring tea into delicate cups.
“Master, please enjoy the tea.” After pouring four cups, she respectfully offered the first one to her master.
After Yaeger accepted her cup, Vera 18 handed the remaining two to Little Blue and Vera 17. Naturally, her deanor had beco noticeably more reserved than before.
“This is good tea,” Yaeger remarked, taking a sip of the fragrant brew.
“I’m so glad you like it, Master!” Vera 18 bead with delight.
‘The two days I spent learning how to brew tea finally paid off!’
Indeed, her hard work hadn’t gone to waste.
“Well, well. Didn’t you used to despise Master? And now you’re trying so hard to impress her. Number Eighteen, you’re so fickle,” Little Blue said with a smirk.
“N-No! I’ve always respected Master—right from the start!” Vera 18 stamred, cheeks turning red. Her forr resentnt toward Yaeger was long gone. Bringing it up now only filled her with embarrassnt.
“That’s enough, Little Blue. Stop teasing Number Eighteen and focus on the mission.” Yaeger flicked her forehead lightly as she spoke.
“Ouch! Why are you the one bullying now, Master?” Little Blue clutched her forehead dramatically.
“Heh. Do you want to beat you up?” Yaeger narrowed her eyes and smiled mischievously.
At her master’s expression, Little Blue instantly dropped her act and sat up straight. “Nope! Serious mode activated!” she declared with a suddenly stern face. Oddly enough, the shift in her expression made her look rather adorable.
“When are Vera One, Two, and Three arriving? Are they using the sa deploynt as last ti?” Yaeger asked.
“Yes. Two S-ranked Transcendents are heading to the Ability Managent Departnt’s apartnt to deal with Ronald Tian. anwhile, Vera One, Two, and Three, along with ten AA-ranked Transcendents, are en route to Jade Flower Garden to confront you, Master. They’re set to begin the operation at 11 o’clock,” Little Blue reported.
“Mylene’s with Old Man Tian—they’ll manage. But our side’s more complicated. I can’t use the scrapyard lot anymore, and I can’t exactly lure them to that abandoned building either, can I?” Yaeger muttered, slightly annoyed.
She didn’t want to cause any major commotion near Jade Flower Garden. After all, she planned to live there again once she returned to her male identity.
“I don’t think it’s feasible,” Little Blue said seriously. “That building’s too far from Jade Flower Garden. It’d be nearly impossible to lead them there without attracting attention.”
“Agreed. But there’s no ideal battleground nearby. Fighting thirteen AA-ranked Transcendents is bound to draw attention. It’d be suspicious if no one noticed.” Yaeger leaned back into the sofa, crossing her legs in thought.
“Master, doesn’t Little Blue have that teleportation ability? Why not just force them here and wipe them out in one strike?” Vera 17 suggested suddenly.
“She’s right,” Vera 18 added.
After spending enough ti in the [City of Chaos], the two had grown accustod to its countless mysteries—as well as the strange abilities of both Little Blue and Yaeger herself.
Soon enough, they’d start thinking this was completely normal—nothing surprising at all.
Upon hearing those words, Little Blue and Yaeger sat upright at the sa ti, fixing their eyes on Vera 17 and 18. The sudden attention made the two feel incredibly uneasy.
‘Did we say sothing wrong?’ Just as that thought crossed their minds, Little Blue and Yaeger exchanged glances.
“Is that doable?” Yaeger asked, breaking the silence.
“It’ll use up more energy… but yes, it’s possible,” Little Blue replied with a nod.
Right after that, the two turned and simultaneously patted Vera 17 and 18 on the head.
“Excellent. You two are truly outstanding assistants!” Little Blue said with a bright smile.
“Yes, this is a solid idea,” Yaeger added, smiling. She had been so focused on practical strategies that teleportation hadn’t even crossed her mind.
“Hehe~” Vera 17 and 18 squinted contentedly, smiling in bliss.
Yaeger pulled her hand back and leaned into the sofa. Little Blue mirrored her a mont later. The mont the head pats stopped, the two Veras looked visibly disappointed. Still, aware of the current seriousness, they quickly straightened up and composed themselves.
“Little Blue, can you construct an arena inside the City of Chaos?” Yaeger asked.
Little Blue nodded eagerly. “Absolutely! The [City of Chaos] has outstanding transformation capabilities!”
“I see. Then create one for —with a barrier. No one leaves once they enter.” Yaeger smirked as she gave the order.
However, there was sothing unsettling—almost sinister—about that smile. All three of the smaller girls imdiately felt a chill run down their spines. They knew all too well—this was how their master looked when she was planning sothing wicked.
“I-I’ll get right on it!” Little Blue stamred, clearly flustered.
“We-we’ll help too!” Vera 17 and 18 chid in unison.
Yaeger couldn’t help but chuckle as she watched the trio practically flee the main hall. At the sa ti, a soft sense of peace settled over her. ‘Is this… what it feels like to have a ho? It’s nice.'
At that mont, inside the Ability Managent Departnt’s apartnt… Mylene slowly opened her eyes and sat up, then rose from the bed with a faint yawn.
“I finally grinded to Level twenty-nine… I didn’t let Sister down.” She let out a soft sigh, weariness showing on her face.
Just then, her phone buzzed on the nightstand, emitting a high-pitched notification tone. Mylene picked it up and unlocked the screen with her stylus. A new ssage had arrived.
Nangong Lin:
Mylene, are you free right now?
“Why is she contacting so late?” Mylene tilted her head, puzzled. She didn’t consider herself especially close to Nangong, but they weren’t strangers either. So, she responded without hesitation.
Mylene Tian:
I’m free. Did you need sothing?
A response ca back almost instantly—within two seconds. Only soone who’d been single for at least twenty years could type that fast.
Nangong Lin:
Glad to hear it. Co to the Rosen Hotel—we’ll have supper together.
Mylene Tian:
Will Sister be there too?
Nangong Lin:
I didn’t invite Princess. The Empire’s branded her a fugitive, so I imagine she’s… preoccupied.
Mylene Tian:
That’s fine. I’ll co.
Still, a small wave of disappointnt passed over her—she had hoped her sister would be there. Even so, she wasn’t about to miss a chance to strengthen her bond with a potential friend.
‘Ah… so this is what it feels like to live like a normal person. It’s wonderful.' Mylene had always yearned for the simple joys of an ordinary life—one free from chaos or responsibility. Such peace could only be found in the lives of normal people.
If Yaeger heard her thoughts, she’d probably facepalm in disbelief. ‘You seriously think soone like Nangong Lin is even remotely normal?’
To be fair, in terms of combat ability, people like Nangong Lin were ordinary. Actually, they were probably weaker than the average person.
“It’s a sha Sister won’t be there.” She glanced at the clock—it was 9:30 PM. “It’s still early. I should be back before eleven and in bed on ti.”
With that, she slipped into an adorable dress and left the apartnt, making her way to the Rosen Hotel.
Ti flew by. It was now 10:55 PM.
In the underground parking lot of a nearby hotel, Vera 1, 2, and 3 stood alongside their assembled Transcendents, fully prepared for the mission.
Five sleek, black luxury sedans were lined up before them.
“The target’s still inside the apartnt. Let’s move,” Vera 1 ordered.
Everyone climbed into their designated vehicles, and the convoy silently pulled out of the lot. At exactly eleven o’clock, the hunt would begin.
