Irene snapped to full alert and sprang up from the bed with a sharp whoosh, conjuring a Holy Spirit Hamr in her hand, ready to strike.
At that mont, the door opened, and a figure darted inside, casually shutting the door behind them.
Irene’s eyes narrowed as she gripped the glowing golden hamr tightly. Her small hand raised, one foot stepped forward, and her petite fra leaned in preparation to launch forward.
But then, a familiar voice rang out.
“What, is this how you greet people now?”
Her body froze mid-motion. Irene forcibly halted herself, her wide, adorable eyes staring ahead.
As expected, it was that familiar, beautiful figure.
“Princess!” Delight and surprise flashed across her face. The Holy Spirit Hamr in her hand instantly dispersed into golden particles, and she lunged forward with all her might. “My novel! Hurry, hand it over!”
At this mont, Irene looked just like a poor creature suffering withdrawal, finally spotting her long-awaited dicine. She was absolutely desperate. Yae-hi tilted her body aside, dodging Irene’s flying tackle with ease.
Irene landed face-first on the floor and let out a pitiful cry. “Wuuu… why didn’t you catch ?!” She pouted, complaining.
“With the way you ca at , I’d have broken a few bones,” Yae-hi replied seriously.
Irene thought about it and found the statent not entirely unreasonable. Unlike ordinary clerics, she possessed considerable strength. If she crashed into soone at full force, she really might end up hurting them.
“You want to read the lewd novel, huh?” Yae-hi’s expression shifted into a dazzlingly stunning smile.
That smile alone sent shivers down Irene’s spine, an ominous feeling surging in her heart. She clearly rembered, whenever Yae-hi smiled like this, it never ended well!
“Oh? You don’t want to read it after all?” Yae-hi retracted her smile and turned to leave.
“Wait—no! I do! I want to read it!” Irene scrambled up from the floor and clung tightly to Yae-hi’s elegant leg.
“Oho, so you do want to read it.” Yae-hi lowered her head with a grin. That smile carried an unmistakably devious edge.
“Wh-What are you planning?” Irene asked nervously.
“Nothing much. Just a little sothing I need your help with,” Yae-hi replied with a calm smile.
“Is it really sothing small?” Irene still felt uneasy.
“Of course. When have I ever lied to you?”
“Ugh… fine, I’ll help!” Whether it was out of a desperate desire to read the novel or a bit of trust in Yae-hi, Irene hesitated briefly before nodding in agreent.
“You’re really doing a big favor.” Yae-hi lifted her up and gently set her down on the bed.
“So what is it? Just say it, I’ll smack it twice and get it done!” Irene said as she sat on the bed, her tone tinged with impatience. That latest lewd novel by Alicia, she had only read part of it last ti. Ever since, she had been constantly preoccupied with what ca next, unable to eat or sleep in peace.
“Purify these two shards for . After that, all three need to be fully recharged.” Yae-hi nonchalantly took out three Holy Spirit Shards from her ring.
Irene stared at the shards in Yae-hi’s palm, montarily dumbfounded and dazed. Then, like a threatened kitten, she suddenly jumped up and roared, “I don’t know where you got these shards from, but asking to purify and recharge them all…that’s just too much! Are you so kind of demon?!”
If not for the room’s excellent soundproofing, her voice would’ve echoed through the entire church.
“You’re noisy,” Yae-hi said, furrowing her delicate brow as she grabbed Irene’s small hand and placed the shards into her palm. “You’re a saintess. You promised to help, rember? You can’t go back on your word.” With that, she gave Irene an innocent, harmless smile.
“You really are a devil!” Irene looked like she was about to cry.
“Alright, get to work. There’ll be a reward afterward.” Yae-hi patted her head.
“Wuu… you anie!” Irene stretched out her pretty little leg and kicked Yae-hi away slightly.
“I’ll be back later.” Yae-hi walked toward the door.
“Don’t co back!” Irene hurled a pillow at her.
But Yae-hi had already slipped out. The pillow hit the door and slid to the floor.
“anie!” Irene jumped off the bed and retrieved the pillow. “Wait a sec… isn’t that troublemaker wanted? How does she still dare to co back here?” Staring at the closed door, Irene murmured with a confused expression.
Leaving the church, Yae-hi quietly made her way into the commoners’ district.
“I wonder how Princess is doing these days…” a crisp, bell-like voice rang out in a shabby little hut.
“Don’t worry, Princess will be fine,” a man’s voice replied. Rough, yet tinged with a gentle warmth.
“Big brother… is there any way we can help Princess?”
“I don’t know. We don’t even know where she is.”
“Sigh… Princess, oh Princess, I hope you’re safe.”
“Mhm, safe and sound indeed.” Suddenly, a sweet voice echoed in the room, startling the sibling pair.
They turned with alarm to see a breathtakingly beautiful figure standing before them. It was none other than Yae-hi.
“Prin—” Aurora exclaid excitedly, but quickly clamped her hands over her mouth and lowered her voice. “Princess.”
The soundproofing in this run-down house wasn’t great. If soone overheard them, it could cause serious trouble.
“Princess, why are you still in the city?” her brother Fiat asked in surprise. He also kept his voice low.
“I didn’t stay, I just snuck back in,” Yae-hi replied with a smile.
Hearing that, the two siblings were briefly stunned, but quickly regained their composure. After all, they knew full well, things like this were par for the course when it ca to Princess. Only she would dare to do sothing so bold.
Of course, that boldness ca from her sheer capability.
“No one’s been bothering you lately, right?” Yae-hi walked over and asked softly. Her tone carried a distinct trace of concern.
Hearing that, Aurora felt a wave of warmth rise in her chest. Even when Princess’ own situation was in such dire straits, she still took the ti to worry about them. So gentle. So thoughtful.
“No, on the contrary, people seem to be keeping their distance from us,” Fiat said with a helpless chuckle.
“That’s normal. In their eyes, your status has changed…you’re far above the rest of the people around here.” Yae-hi explained.
When everyone’s on the sa level, and soone suddenly rises above the rest, it naturally breeds envy and petty targeting. But once you’re far beyond them, they start to keep their distance, treating you like you’re from another world.
Yae-hi had co to understand this more deeply herself as of late.
“Princess, what have you been up to lately?” Aurora asked curiously.
“Well, that’s a bit of a long story, but I’ll keep it short…”
Since the siblings were people she could trust, Yae-hi gave them a quick rundown of recent events. After hearing everything, the two siblings couldn’t help but gasp in shock. They never imagined Princess’ escape from Jade City had been so perilous.
And to think she encountered such terrifying foes afterward…it was thrilling, but also incredibly dangerous.
“You’ve really been through a lot, Princess…” Aurora looked up at Yae-hi, her face tinged with concern.
“Princess is soone destined for great things. Of course it won’t be easy,” said Fiat.
“Enough about that. I actually ca to ask you for a favor, do you two have ti?” Yae-hi waved her hand lightly, shifting the topic.
