Yae-hi stepped out of the pool, exhaling softly as she released her energy outward. The crystal droplets that clung to her legs scattered in shimring arcs before she quickly slipped on her battle boots and fastened her mask.1

Seeing that, Angelica finally opened the warehouse door.

“Lord Angel!” Micha looked over and greeted her respectfully.

“What kind of people are coming?” Yae-hi asked at once.

“I heard there are seven of them, all in black robes. It looks like they’re carrying sothing, and it looks eerie,” Micha said.

“Are they close to the village?”

“No, there’s still so distance. The villagers patrolling outside spotted their traces and ca back to report imdiately.” A hint of unease surfaced on Micha’s face.

“I understand. Stay in the village for now and don’t go out. I’ll go take a look.” Yae-hi said.

“Yes!” everyone answered in unison.

At present, Aoma Village was still under lockdown. After that epidemic and the harassnt from players, the villagers obediently stayed in their hos. The broad streets looked especially quiet.

Yae-hi left the village at extre speed and reached the main road outside. Not far ahead, a dark mass was faintly visible. She could also hear a peculiar kind of music—half chant, half incantation.

Yae-hi beca alert at once and slowed her steps, advancing at a asured pace. The group opposite likewise kept the sa unhurried speed as they ca forward.

Before long, Yae-hi saw the true shape of that shadow. It was six black-robed figures carrying a pitch-black coffin. At their head, another black-robed figure held a black staff, writhing and capering like an epileptic as he let out eerie, garbled cries.

The six coffin-bearers moved in rhythm to his chant, performing unsettling motions.

At tis they set the coffin upon their thighs and drumd the lid in quick, cadenced blows. At tis they propped the base on their shoulders and executed strange, dance-like steps. At tis they balanced it across their backs and crawled forward like dogs.

It looked both grotesque and inexplicably comical. However, Yae-hi did not find it funny in the least. Because whenever those black-robed n perford these movents, the aura within the coffin surged without pause, radiating an exceptionally formidable pressure.

At that mont, a golden flash burst forth and three Holy Spirit Shards appeared before Yae-hi.

From the other side, the coffin shot out a beam of black light. The Holy Spirit Shards trembled violently!

“So it really is an Apostle.” Yae-hi caught the shards in her hand, her expression behind the mask growing steadily colder. She had long known these Apostles would not give up so easily, but she had not expected them to arrive this quickly.

(Good thing I stayed in Aoma Village today, or Layna and the others would be in trouble.)

If she had not been intent on resolving the epidemic early, Yae-hi likely would not have rushed to synthesize the potions today, and would have gone to look for S.K.Y. instead.

Artifacts were good, but compared to the health of her “vegetable garden,” they fell far short. After all, a whole and thriving Jade Empire was where her future truly lay.

The eerie chanting grew ever louder, grating on the ears.

“How strange. Their ritual looks a bit like the Warlock Association’s Spirit Dance.”

Yae-hi rembered that warlocks could enhance their own power through the Spirit Dance. But a group performing the Spirit Dance together to empower a single person, this was the first ti she had seen it.

So for the mont she could not tell whether the Apostle lying in the coffin had any connection to the Warlock Association. She only knew that the enemies this ti were all strong opponents.

First, each of those seven black-robed n possessed strength equal to one and a half of Lucky. As for the Apostle inside the coffin, that was even more exaggerated, their strength equaled fifteen of Lucky!

There was no doubt this was the strongest Apostle Yae-hi had encountered so far, far stronger than the ninth and tenth Apostles. It was clear that the mysterious organization had abandoned probing and was moving in earnest.

(This will be a hard battle.)

Yae-hi clenched her fists, feeling pressure like a mountain. Her Ancient Celestial Sword Formation and God Slayer2 were both on cooldown. It was impossible to unleash an ultimate skill and wipe them all out at once.

She had only three trump cards left at hand: the Sword of Eternity (Replica), the three Holy Spirit Shards, and the special effect of the Chaos Roulette.

The first two trump cards were more than enough for the seven black-robed n, but still a bit lacking against the Apostle in the coffin.

(Am I really going to have to gamble on my luck again?)

The Chaos Roulette’s effect had a low trigger rate, unusable for soone unlucky. Fortunately, Yae-hi’s Luck stat was an absurd 666, which made the trigger rate very different. Even so, she still needed to gamble.

The stronger the effect or technique, the higher the Luck required to activate it. So for Yae-hi, it was only relatively easier to trigger such effects, it didn’t an she could do so every ti. Otherwise, a few casual sword swings from her would already be enough to activate the Instant Death effect.

To gamble on luck ant taking a risk. No one would willingly take that gamble unless the situation was truly dire.

(This place isn’t suitable for battle.)

Yae-hi shifted her gaze toward a stretch of barren land not far away. With a light tap of her foot, she shot forward like an arrow loosed from its bowstring.

At that mont, the coffin shuddered, and a muffled voice ca from within, “Follow her.”

Hearing that command, the coffin bearers quickly followed after Yae-hi toward the wasteland. Even as they moved swiftly, their dance-like steps never ceased.

“Here will do.” Once far enough from the main road, Yae-hi stopped and turned to face them, the corner of her eye twitching involuntarily. Because what she saw was utterly absurd; the six black-robed figures were now lying flat on the ground, their twelve legs rhythmically kicking the coffin.

The coffin spun continuously in mid-air as if kept aloft by their synchronized kicks. anwhile, the black-robed man holding the staff raised both arms stiffly and circled the coffin in a rigid dance, muttering an endless stream of words under his breath.

It was a bizarre and comical sight, yet Yae-hi found nothing amusing about it.

“Sixteen tis Lucky’s strength…” she muttered tensely, watching as the coffin flipped mid-air, fell, and was kicked back up again. To enhance one’s power so drastically in such a short span, the horror of that ritual was beyond imagination.

“There’s no way I’m letting you complete your empowernt!” Yae-hi raised her slender hand, and the exquisite Sword of Eternity materialized in her grasp, gleaming with a silvery brilliance.

She planned to strike them all down in one blow, then deal with the one inside the coffin afterward. But at that mont, the coffin that had just been kicked skyward suddenly burst open with a heavy bang.

The lid flew off, and a dark figure shot out from within, landing on the ground in an instant and revealing her true form. It was a middle-aged woman with chestnut hair and a plump fra, draped in a black robe. Her face was covered with layers of powder several centiters thick.

At first glance, she seed plain, but the aura she exuded was chillingly dangerous, like a venomous serpent hiding in the grass, ready to strike.

“Heh… You ca here just to die? Good, very good. Coffin, co!” The woman’s lips curled upward as she raised a hand. The coffin that was about to fall was pulled toward her and slamd heavily to the ground before Yae-hi.

“I am the Fifth Apostle, consider this your welcoming gift!”

“What a heavy gift indeed.” Yae-hi gave a cold smirk as her gaze flicked toward the pitch-black coffin. “It’d be rude not to return the favor. You give a coffin, then I’ll give you a bell!”

As soon as her voice fell, the Sword of Eternity erupted in dazzling silver light, unleashing a torrent of violent energy that roared outward.

“Co, then!” The Fifth Apostle stepped forward with her left foot, arms spread wide. Sixteen tis Lucky’s strength burst forth in an overwhelming surge, distorting the very space around her.

Their powerful auras clashed violently, the collision so intense that even the black-robed n nearby could hardly stand it, they felt as if they were being crushed and twisted inside a blender.

Just as Yae-hi and the Fifth Apostle were about to strike— A young, childish voice suddenly rang out. “Out of the way!”
