In that instant, a powerful surge burst from Alicia’s body, making the cavern tremble ever so slightly.
Lili looked toward Yae-hi with a hint of concern, only to realize that the latter was completely unaffected. Looking back at Alicia, she also appeared perfectly calm.
‘They’re fine… thank goodness.’ She pressed a hand to her chest and let out a quiet breath.
As the saying went, once bitten by a snake, one feared even a coiled rope for years. Even now, she still felt lingering dread, worried that sothing might go wrong. Fortunately, her Little Hi was as steady as ever.
Alicia looked tranquil on the surface, yet inside her emotions surged like a churning sea. ‘Amazing. Such intricate control over energies… this is the first ti I have ever felt sothing like this!’
At this mont, two distinct energies were circulating rapidly within her body. One glimred green-blue. The other glowed earthy yellow. They were earth energy and Yae-hi’s wood energy. The two powers ford dual vortices, swirling repeatedly before twisting together like a two-colored braid. Finally, they blended into one, becoming a large orb of interwoven green and yellow light.
‘This is truly miraculous!’ Alicia viewed her body from within and couldn’t help but marvel. But the next scene shook her even more. That spinning sphere of dual color suddenly released countless threads, which swiftly and cleanly rged into her limbs and bones. They felt like spring rain falling on fertile soil, soothing and refreshing.
‘Amazing… feels so good… this feeling is completely different from my own thod. This nourishes gently and silently, whereas mine is more like rough devouring!’ The forr caused no harm at all, while the latter damaged the body and wasted energy.
Alicia clearly sensed that Yae-hi was weaving every strand of power seamlessly into her entire body. Exquisite was the only word for it.
Just then, Yae-hi’s hands began to glide across her body. The earth energy and wood energy seeped through her from outside to inside and inside to outside, nourishing Alicia bit by bit. It felt so good it made her very soul tremble.
If Yae-hi hadn’t instructed her earlier to rember the flow of the energies, Alicia would have already ascended straight into bliss. Suppressing the urge to soar, she focused intently on morizing everything.
Gradually, she began to sense a kind of profound, indescribable mystery. As ti passed, most of the earth energy inside the cave had already been depleted.
“You can try imitating my previous thod now.” Suddenly, Yae-hi spoke.
“Yes.” Alicia nodded lightly, then imdiately began her attempt.
Yae-hi withdrew her hands, exhaling a long, murky breath. Her face was filled with exhaustion. With her current strength, manipulating the forces inside Alicia’s body was still sowhat strenuous.
After all, Alicia was a Legend-ranked figure; her physique had long surpassed the human realm by several layers, making the difficulty far higher than Yae-hi initially expected. Still, despite the hardship, the benefits were imnse.
Understanding the internal structure of a legend-rank body like this would greatly aid her future breakthroughs. The difficulty would decrease by a considerable margin.
‘A pity that I still cannot grasp the deeper mysteries of the legend rank.’ Human desire was never easily satisfied, and Yae-hi was no exception.
She gave a wry smile, then looked toward Alicia. The girl’s brows were lightly furrowed, her complexion pale, as if she had encountered a problem. Yae-hi made no move to help. It wasn’t because she was unwilling, but because she believed Alicia’s talent was more than enough to overco such difficulties.
And sure enough, in less than ten seconds, her expression softened and even curved into a faint smile.
‘No wonder she’s the one-in-a-million genius of the Jade Empire.’ Through her perception, Yae-hi could see Alicia repeating her earlier technique. Although still clumsy and rough, with more ti and practice she would surely grow proficient.
‘With this thod, her recovery ti will definitely shorten. All that matters is whether Alicia can fully master it.’ This recovery thod was sothing Yae-hi created after fully understanding Alicia’s body. It was a complete original.
Even she herself could not use it. Their physical traits were simply too different. But even if she could use it, she would not. Because this thod was derived from the Green Emperor’s Longevity Manual, and the two simply did not belong to the sa level at all.
After watching for a mont and confirming that everything was normal, Yae-hi stepped down from the bed. At once, Lili stood up quickly and yielded the only chair in the room.
The mont Yae-hi sat down, a small figure imdiately plopped onto her lap. The little head, tied with golden twin tails, leaned firmly against her.
“Reserved,” she whispered.
Hearing that, Yae-hi couldn’t help rolling her eyes. So she really was treating her like a living chair?
“Was everything solved perfectly?” Lili asked softly.
“Mm. If nothing unexpected happens, in a few days Alicia should be able to recover—no, she should finish absorbing the inheritance power inside the Inheritance Jewel. Her strength should improve quite a bit compared to before.” Yae-hi lowered her voice as she spoke.
“That’s wonderful.” Lili clenched her small hands, relief warming her expression. Only at this mont did she truly relax. Imdiately after, a wave of drowsiness washed over her. Drawn in by the dream demon’s subtle influence, she slowly closed her eyes. Her consciousness sank deeper and deeper until she finally drifted into sleep.
Hearing that steady, gentle breathing, Yae-hi paused in surprise before realizing that Lili had fallen asleep.
‘She must be exhausted.’ Thinking about how she had been running around nonstop for Alicia since last night, with both her mind and body stretched to the limit, Yae-hi felt a twinge of heartache.
And, just a little, she felt touched.
‘So this is what having family feels like… it’s nice.’ As an orphan, the thing she had always longed for most was a ho. A ho with family. ‘Once things settle down here, I should return to Goose City to visit my parents’ graves.’
Though her mories of them had grown almost completely blurred, the proper filial duty was sothing she still intended to fulfill.
‘I should also visit the orphanage. I didn’t manage to reach them on the phone last ti, and I’m still a little worried.’ For now, she still couldn’t return to her male form, making it hard to call them again. Besides, she simply couldn’t step away at the mont.
“Zzz Zzz Zzz…” Listening to the peaceful breathing against her chest, Yae-hi let out a quiet laugh. She then held Lili gently to keep her from slipping over.
On the other side, Alicia was progressing smoothly, greedily absorbing both earth energy and wood energy as they nourished her body. Feeling bored, Yae-hi held Lili with one arm and opened the ga interface with the other, browsing the forum.
But as soon as she entered, she saw a flood of posts filled with sour players criticizing her. After reading through a few threads, she finally understood the whole situation. “I didn’t cheat,” she whispered.
‘The system did.’ She added that silently in her heart. Of course, that was just her own little joke. ‘Being reborn is my own ability too, what’s there to be jealous about?’
She couldn’t be bothered with these sour grapes and their so-called accusations. Continuing to scroll, she found the rest of the posts equally sour, the acidity almost stinging her nose.
She closed the forum with a flick of her hand. Yae-hi suddenly rembered Little Fairy and Yunuen. ‘I wonder if those two have been leveling properly.’
…
At that mont, several hours’ travel away from Jade City, deep within a swamp, Yunuen and Little Fairy were locked in a fierce battle.
