Night fell, and the city lights gradually flickered to life.
“I… I don’t have a single drop left…” On the bed, Irene spoke weakly. Her small face was pale, and her entire body looked as if it had been completely drained. In fact, she truly had been drained.
Not a single drop of sacred power remained within her body. Every last bit of it had been infused into those four fragnts.
“Thank you for your hard work,” Yae-hi said gently while placing the glittering Holy Spirit Shards into her spatial ring.
At that mont, Irene felt the overwhelming urge to jump up, grab her, and bite her fiercely. She had worked herself to the bone, and all she received was such a bland, painless remark. It nearly drove her mad with frustration.
As if hearing the complaint in her heart, Yae-hi glanced over and said with a smile, “How about I give you another full-body treatnt? It will remove all your fatigue.”
“N-no, don’t!” The mont Irene recalled that embarrassing scene, she gathered the last bit of strength she had and shouted.
“I see. I was planning to give you a little benefit,” Yae-hi said as she condensed a slender green needle in her hand. “Since you don’t like it, then just recover slowly.” Before her words had even finished, the green needle shot out and struck Irene with perfect accuracy.
Irene imdiately felt a faint prick of pain. But it was quickly replaced by the overwhelming pleasure brought by the influx of life energy. That sensation, like ascending to the heavens, was so intoxicating that it was impossible to resist.
“You can’t… ah~ don’t… the gods are watching from above…!” Finally, under the intense stimulation of the life energy, Irene ascended into bliss. A mont later, her mind drifted blankly, and her eyes slowly closed as she comfortably slipped into sleep.
Seeing this, Yae-hi could not help but twitch at the corner of her mouth. She thought to herself, ‘I was only replenishing your energy. Do you really have to make it sound that lewd?’
After tucking Irene in with the blanket, Yae-hi let her rest in the room for a while before preparing to leave the church.
Unlike when she had slipped in earlier, Yae-hi now moved with extre caution. After carefully surveying the surroundings, she leapt upward. Using her spatial power, she moved through the air like a dragonfly skimming the surface of water.
“That bishop seems a bit lacking,” Yae-hi said calmly as she landed on the ground and glanced back at the church. Just monts ago, she had deliberately released a trace of energy fluctuation to test the area. Yet she received no response whatsoever.
Thinking about it, though, that was normal. The church was enormous and filled with personnel. Failing to notice such a faint fluctuation of power was hardly surprising.
“I may have overestimated him.” A faint, wry smile ford at the corner of Yae-hi’s lips. ‘Even among those of the sa Legend rank, there are differences. This person clearly isn’t on the sa level as Lili.’
After leaving the church grounds, she entered a deserted alley and suddenly spoke, “Co out.”
In the next instant, a dark figure darted into the alley. The woman quickly dropped to one knee and said, “Rosalina greets her master!”
The newcor was none other than Rosalina, the interrogator from the underground grand prison.
“You were looking for ?” Yae-hi turned around and asked. She was not surprised at all that Rosalina had found her. After all, the fragrance on her body served as the perfect guide for Rosalina. She simply had to follow the scent.
Of course, that only worked if Yae-hi happened to be active near the church. Otherwise, it would not have been so easy to find her.
“I happened to be moving around this area. When I caught the scent of Master, I ca to greet you,” Rosalina answered honestly.
“Mm. That was thoughtful of you.” Yae-hi nodded. Ever since Rosalina had helped her escape Jade City, Yae-hi no longer regarded her as an outsider.
“Also, recently the Holy Empire has sent many powerful clerics here. It seems they are plotting sothing. I felt it was necessary for Master to know this information, so I ca out to try my luck.” Rosalina had not expected that she would run into Yae-hi so soon after leaving. Her luck today was truly excellent.
Hearing this, Yae-hi’s expression imdiately changed. “What else do you know?” Regarding the people from the Southern Grand Church, both she and Irene only had a general understanding. They lacked deeper intelligence.
Now that Rosalina had co looking for her, it was the perfect opportunity to ask for more details and gain a clearer picture of the situation.
“Master, it’s like this…” Rosalina began, recounting in detail all the information she knew.
Most of it was roughly the sa as what Yae-hi already knew. However, it was the first ti she had heard that Bishop Gurant had gone to et Richard for a secret discussion after returning for a second audience.
“So Richard is truly determined to sell out his country.”
“I heard that His Majesty intends to establish the Church of Light as the official state religion,” Rosalina said.
“They’re actually going that far!?”
Yae-hi exclaid in surprise. A state religion was not sothing that could be established lightly. Once recognized as the official religion of the nation, the Church of Light would gain imnse authority and influence.
“That’s only what I’ve heard. There’s still no way to verify it for now,” Rosalina replied.
“You can stand up first.” Yae-hi composed herself and reached out to help Rosalina to her feet.
The latter looked both startled and honored, her heart instantly overflowing with happiness.
“No matter what, the fact that they are our enemies hasn’t changed.” Yae-hi withdrew her hand and casually brushed her long black hair aside. The graceful, effortless gesture was so charming that Rosalina found herself staring blankly at her.
“You’re still working at the grand prison for now, right?” Yae-hi asked.
“Yes. I believe staying there allows to gather intelligence for you more easily, Master,” Rosalina answered respectfully.
“You’ve done well.” Yae-hi patted her on the shoulder in praise.
At once, two rosy clouds blood across Rosalina’s slightly pale cheeks. Her heart was instantly filled with happiness. It was only an ordinary word of praise, yet it excited her so much she felt as though she might ascend to heaven.
“Keep a close eye on the church’s movents for . If anything major changes, imdiately send a trusted subordinate to Aoma Village to find the ‘Lord Angel’ there,” Yae-hi instructed.
“Yes, Master.” Rosalina nodded. “By the way… Master, that Angel wouldn’t happen to be you, would it?”
“……” Hearing that, the corner of Yae-hi’s eye twitched slightly. She thought to herself, ‘How did you guess so accurately!?’
As if noticing her confusion, Rosalina continued, “Recently, rumors have been spreading in the city that the Lord Angel of Aoma Village possesses miraculous powers and can produce erald-colored holy water and the like.
“So I naturally thought of you, Master. And earlier you appeared near the Mangrove Forest. The only place that allows rapid travel between Jade City and the Mangrove Forest is the imperial docks.
“Previously, because of the plague outbreak there, no one dared to approach that area. But for soone like you, Master, who possesses such miraculous powers, that place would actually be the safest.”
After hearing her explanation, Yae-hi felt a tingling numbness spread across her scalp. ‘Just from that little information, she deduced the truth… Luckily Rosalina isn’t my enemy!’
“I was only able to guess so quickly because I know what kind of power you possess,” Rosalina added.
“That makes sense.” Yae-hi nodded lightly, finally feeling relieved. Her life energy was the key piece of the puzzle. And very few people even knew that she possessed such miraculous healing abilities. There was nothing to worry about.
“By the way, how is the Seventh Princess doing?” After calming her thoughts, Yae-hi changed the subject.
“Her Highness the Seventh Princess is currently under house arrest. Aside from not being allowed to leave, she should be doing fine,” Rosalina replied uncertainly.
“As long as she’s safe, that’s enough.” Yae-hi smiled faintly. “It’s getting late. I still need to return to Aoma Village, so I won’t stay any longer. Take care of yourself. Whatever you do, don’t let anyone discover the connection between us.”
“Yes, Master!” Rosalina lowered her head and responded respectfully. By the ti she raised her head again, Yae-hi’s figure had already vanished without a trace.
