However, after Kang Yiyang entered his room and shut the door, she still pushed open her mother’s bedroom door.
Just as Cai Xiufen had positioned her pillow, she saw her treasured daughter enter the room and couldn’t help but ask, “Why co here instead of sleeping?”
But before Kang Li could speak, she slapped her thigh, “I almost forgot to tell you, your godmother is ill. She says it’s just a cold and not serious, but I think she’s obviously not in good spirits. Rember to visit your godmother tomorrow.”
Kang Li sat down on a chair and asked her mother, “Did you go sit with my godmother this afternoon?”
“You went out this afternoon, and I had nothing to do at ho, so I went around to your godmother’s house. That’s when I saw your godmother lacking energy and coughing from ti to ti.”
Mrs. Qi caught a cold the night before last after catching a chill; initially, it wasn’t severe, but yesterday she started feeling lethargic and coughing occasionally.
After taking dicine, Mrs. Qi felt so improvent, so today when Cai Xiufen visited, seeing that Mrs. Qi wasn’t feeling well, she enquired with concern, and Mrs. Qi replied: it was just a cold, but nothing serious.
Yet, to Cai Xiufen, Mrs. Qi’s complexion was pale, her speech was breathless, and she coughed intermittently; it didn’t seem like a re cold.
Therefore, she thought of informing Kang Li about Mrs. Qi’s illness to have Kang Li go to the Song Family to see her and take care of Mrs. Qi by the way.
After all, having been made godmother, now that she was ill, and as her goddaughter was at ho, there was no reason not to visit her.
“I’ll go over tomorrow morning.”
Kang Li gave her response.
Cai Xiufen, “You should indeed go and see her, your godmother is fond of you. Since you have nothing much these two days, stay by her side and take care of her for a couple of days.”
“Alright, I’ll listen to you, mother.”
Kang Li’s face wore a smile, her voice clear and sweet, falling on Cai Xiufen’s ears, exceptionally comforting.
“Oh, there’s sothing else I find quite strange, I should tell you about it.”
Cai Xiufen frowned slightly as she said, “Yesterday afternoon, the ho phone rang at least three tis. Each ti I picked up and asked who the caller was looking for, they just hung up. Now, isn’t that strange?”
Kang Li, “Mother didn’t hear any sound?”
Cai Xiufen, “No one spoke, each ti I picked up, I’d ask who they were looking for, and they’d just hang up the phone straight away.”
“Maybe it was just a prank.”
Though she said this, Kang Li didn’t believe soone was calling their ho number just for fun.
While she might think so, without the slightest clue, Kang Li couldn’t guess what was actually going on.
The mother and daughter chatted idly for over ten minutes before Kang Li returned to her main bedroom.
The next morning.
Kang Li dropped the twins at kindergarten, then took Min Rui to elentary school, and afterward, she went ho to pick up the gifts she bought from abroad before heading straight to the Song Family’s ho.
“Godmother, Xuan Xuan.”
