As it happened, the rear window of the black sedan was half-open, and Kang Li saw the elderly gentleman inside. He was montarily startled before tentatively calling out to him.
The next mont, the sedan slowly ca to a stop.
"Xiao Kang, Little Luo! Hello!"
The rear door opened, and an elderly gentleman with gray hair wearing a brand new military coat stepped out of the car. Upon seeing Kang Li and Luo Yanqing, he imdiately greeted them warmly.
"Hello, Uncle Loh, I’m Kang Li, and this is my beloved, Luo Yanqing."
Kang Li smiled and said, "Co on, let’s head to the house."
Seeing the old lady in the car holding a child preparing to get out as well, Kang Li quickly stopped them: "Auntie, you and Xiao En stay in the car to avoid the child catching cold."
The elderly gentleman Kang Li referred to as Uncle Loh was none other than Old Man Loh, with whom Kang Li and his wife had once crossed paths.
In the car sat Old Man Loh’s wife, Old Lady Li, and the child, Loh En, who Kang Li and his wife had sent to Langcheng Welfare Institute more than two years ago.
The child was the elderly couple’s young great-grandson.
Kang Li and Luo Yanqing led Old Man Loh ahead, with the driver slowly following the three, while in the car, apart from Old Lady Li, the grandson, and the driver, there was also a middle-aged man in the front seat, who had accompanied the vehicle specifically to bring the elderly couple back from Aoli Village.

Inviting Old Man Loh and his wife into the living room, Cai Xiufen’s smile never left her face.
"Xiao Kang, the reason we’ve co to visit, apart from expressing our gratitude for the help you’ve given our family, is humbly to ask if our poor young great-grandson could have the honor of calling you and Little Luo his godparents. What do you two think about this?"
After settling in the living room and chatting leisurely for a while, Old Man Loh casually ntioned the purpose of their visit.
On the side, Old Lady Li, in conversation with Cai Xiufen, paused upon hearing Old Man Loh’s words, turning alongside Cai Xiufen to look at Kang Li and Luo Yanqing.
"We don’t want to put you in a difficult position. Please feel free to speak your minds. I know it’s presumptuous of to suggest a godparent relationship without discussing it with you two first. If you feel..."
Before Old Man Loh could continue, Kang Li smiled and said, "It’s not that we’re in any difficult position. It’s just that, as you know, my beloved’s work ans he might not be ho for at least two or three months at a ti,
and as for , though I’m not working, I just took the college entrance exam yesterday. If all goes well, I’ll be enrolling in college next Spring Festival. Even if we take Xiao En as our godson, we won’t be able to give him much attention or care, and I fear that won’t be good for Xiao En either."
Upon hearing this, Old Man Loh imdiately laughed and said, "Then it’s settled! From now on, Xiao En is the godson of you and Little Luo! As for your concerns, it’s really nothing. Even biological parents can’t always be with their children. In the future, when Xiao En grows a bit, during every sumr and winter break, I’ll send him over to play with his siblings,
and if you ever travel to Hu City or pass by, you can always drop by our place, without needing to do anything special for Xiao En, or take ti just to be with him."
